The Nazis were a despicable bunch, but the American war effort in WW2 might have succeeded in destroying Europe for good. I think it is best not to take too much pride in that. Ironically Eastern Europe might be the savior of Europe, which was under Sovjet control. American dictatorship of the soul clearly has been way more destructive in the long run.

Without the Land Lease, as well without the distraction which US/UK cased on the Western, as well as African front, the Soviets would be toast.

And, without the Soviet counteroffensives from the east, D Day, and the liberation of Italy would be much, much harder, if not impossible.

I saw an interview where a guy said that he and about 20 others were in the back alley way that is fenced in. They barricaded the exit so the gunmen couldn't get to them so the 20 people in the fenced area could get out of a small hole in the fence. They said they heard people banging on the exit to get out so them barricading it may have cost lives.

Academic historians all agree that the Soviet Union were the victors of that war.
