Sadly, it was only a matter of time. The attacks in Europe were spring training, the playoffs for these psychos will be on our shores if we don't get wise real quick. Regardless of how he plays it, this will only add wind to Trump's sails. If he went to FL and visited the victims and first responders it would be gold.

Truthfully, whether unfortunate or not, this is great news. Anything bad happening between now and November is a godsend, especially a homegrown terrorist attack. People are going to start abandoning Islamic tolerance when people start getting splattered.

Inanimate objects on a killing spree, apparently. Read that fucking title again. It's the shooting that brought terror and guns to his backyard! What...the..fuck? Instead, we have "the shooting" itself, as a standalone phenomenon, a random force of nature not arising from any act of human will, that gives us the opportunity to appreciate once again just how terrible guns are and how vital it is that white males are banned from owning them.

I'm unsure about that, this isn't Germany or France, one of these motherfuckers shoots up a school, daycare, park, etc. and you're not only going to see mosques burn but Muslims targeted, a large part of American society isn't just going to stand by and watch, they're pissed and have large gun cabinets. As tragic as this is, we are lucky this was a gay club, if this was normal everyday Americans or kids we would undoubtedly see major sparks fly and I don't trust the current administration to smooth such a scenario over.

Authorities think he used those weapons to kill 50 people and injure dozens more in the attack on the gay nightclub that began just after 2 a.m. Sunday morning. Mateen was killed in a shootout with police three hours later after a SWAT team assaulted a section of the club where Mateen was holed up with hostages.

Mateen’s ex-wife said his family was from Afghanistan, but her ex-husband was born in New York. His family later moved to Florida. In 2007, Mateen graduated with an associate degree of science from Indian River State College.

In a series of Myspace photos, Mateen is seen taking selfies and wearing New York Police Department shirts in a couple of the shots. His ex-wife identified him as the man in the Myspace photos.

Mateen’s ex-wife said she was having a difficult time when she first met him and decided to move to Florida to be with him. The two married in March 2009 and moved into a two-bedroom condominium in Fort Pierce, Fla., that Mateen’s family owned.

“He seemed like a normal human being,” she said, adding that when they were married he wasn’t very religious and often worked out at the gym. She said in the few months they were married he gave no signs of having fallen under the sway of radical Islam. She said he owned a small-caliber handgun.

“He was a very private person,” she said.

According to public records, he had a permit to carry a concealed weapon and was a licensed security guard. He had worked for G4S, a security company. His ex-wife said that at one point Mateen worked as a guard at a nearby facility for juvenile delinquents.

The ex-wife said her parents intervened when they learned Mateen had assaulted her. Her father confirmed the account and said that the marriage lasted only a few months.

Her parents flew to Fort Pierce and pulled her out of the house, leaving all her belongings behind. The ex-wife she said never had contact with Mateen again despite attempts by him to reach her.

“They literally saved my life,” she said of her parents.

According to Florida court records, the two formally divorced in 2011.

After learning about what happened in Orlando, she said: “I am still processing. I am definitely lucky.”

After the couple split, a friend of Mateen’s said the young man became steadily more religious. The friend, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Mateen several years ago went on the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia known as the umrah.

“He was quite religious,” the friend said.

He said Mateen had hoped to become a law enforcement officer but that plan never panned out.

The last time he spoke with Mateen was about three weeks ago. There was no indication when they talked that Mateen intended to carry out the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. The friend said that if Mateen had sympathies for the Islamic State or other terrorist groups, he kept that to himself.

“He never spoke about that stuff,” the friend said.

Dartevious Parker, a neighbor who lived near Mateen, said Mateen had a 3-year-old son. The neighbor had also seen a woman living with Mateen and the boy. Parker said he never spoke to her, and she did not wear any religious garb.

Public records show that Mateen was living with a 30-year-old woman named Noor Zahi Salman. A Facebook profile under the name “Noor Zahi” shows two photos of a woman posing with Mateen and a small boy. When reached by phone, Salman’s mother declined to comment.

Mateen regularly attended the Islamic Center of Fort Pierce and was there as recently as two days ago, said Imam Shafiq Rahman on Sunday.

But Rahman said he did not know Mateen well, even though Mateen had frequented for several years. The imam said Mateen would pray with his father and son, and his three sisters were active volunteers at the mosque, which had about 150 congregants.

“He was the most quiet guy; he never talked to anyone,” Rahman said, gripping a loop of black and red prayer beads as he held forth in a dingy corridor adorned with images of the Arabic alphabet rendered by children who come here for religious instruction. “He would come and pray and leave. There was no indication at all the he would do something violent.” Mateen never sought any spiritual guidance from him, Rahman said.

Rahman said he had just emerged from the 2:30 p.m. prayer service during which he said he shed tears over the shooting and the mosque’s ties to Mateen.

Rahman also said that no law enforcement agents had contacted him or, to his knowledge, anyone from the mosque.

Rahman’s 20-year-old son, a University of Florida senior who declined to provide his first name, said the news of Mateen’s involvement came as a shock. “When these things happen, the first thing you do is hope that is not a Muslim who did it. Then when I saw his name, I thought maybe it was someone else with the same name. Then I saw he’s from Fort Pierce,” the son said. Still, he said, “He seemed like an aggressive person. It was just his demeanor. He used to work out a lot.”


On its website and Facebook page, the Islamic Center urged people to give blood and condemned “this monstrous attack and offer our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of all those killed or injured. The Muslim community of Fort Pierce joins our fellow Americans in repudiating anyone or any group that would claim to justify or excuse such an appalling act of violence.”

The imam said that the mosque had reached out to local police for protection out of fear of reprisals but were told there were no officers to spare with the investigation descending on the town.

The imam said it mystified him why anyone from his mosque would be radicalized and said that he has never, since his 2000 arrival at the center, had any interactions with counterterrorism investigators. “The risk that someone would go from here to ISIS seems so remote, so unthinkable,” he said.
