I was actually hoping that he would have Cersei arrested and executed for murdering all of those high ranking nobles.

The entire season 6 was him pining over Margaery who was imprisoned.

Every action Tommen did up until that point was to free his wife.

It really fits into the character development. Margaery was his one-itis. As much as I dislike facets of GoT writing they did build this relationship for several seasons.

Tommen was the complete opposite of Joffrey. He was Mr. sensitive soul and too good natured for his own good. He was not equipped to handle the politics of King's Landing just like Joffrey wasn't but just for different reasons.

Good question(your favourite moments of the finale)

Had a few favorite moments.
We finally got R+L=J
King Tommen suicide was great because like just about everyone else, I didn't see it coming. I thought Tommen and sweetrobin were wearing plot protection because they are frail/weak little boys.
I like they way they shot the "king in the North!" scene where Jon is crowned the king of the north. And the camera pans to Littlefinger and he is not happy. He is clearly not going to stick around to be part of Jon's army. Does he try to invade King's Landing?

I had a few "WTF" moments. Did Arya kill the entire Frey castle without Walder noticing? She had time to bake his sons into a pie and no one noticed or got word to Walder. Is their entire army dead?

And how can Arya have access to all of the faces when she is no longer by the Bravosi temple of black and white?

It would have been better if Walder had eaten one of the pies before Arya told him that he was eating his sons.

here is another picture of Tommen jumping off of the balcony

And actually, now that I think about it, I am disappointed that Jon didn't chop off Melisandre's head. It would have been very Stark of him. The whole banishment is just half assed.

The grrl power positioning for the next season is more than a little bit overdone.

Forgive me, as I haven't read the books:

the women who are leading armies:

Daenerys with her various beta orbiters and eunuch army, after having killed all of the male slavers and opposing leaders and subjugated all of the rest of the masculinity she has encountered.
The bull-dike with her eunuch brother.
The sand snakes, after having killed their King.
Cersei, after having 'been strong' enough to kill everyone and show that her son was fatally soft in comparison.
Sansa, after having killed the irreproachably evil misogynist Ramsey Bolton, just one more Jon Snow death away from the throne.
The little girl in the North who speaks like she's King Henry, and who leads all of the men in her territory.

Snow is going to be offed in the next season, after sending away the grrrl power that was the source of his life, and Sansa will take the throne. This will make the Game of Thrones almost completely a woman's game except for Little Finger. He'll be taken out by Sansa eventually, which will be another grrl power moment. The evil exploiter of women can not be allowed to live.

She received proper training to be a stealth killer. She probably poisoned them all (maybe Jamie too since she was staring at him and Blackwater noticed).
If that was the case, she had plenty of time to cook them. Probably she was there for a while to study Frey's house.

I don't think it needs to be in Bravosi temple to use a face. Probably she learned how to cut somebody's face and use it.

Last episodes were great.
HonantheBarbarian 路 2016-06-27 17:59:00 路 #1559
She couldnt have poisoned Jaime; we saw him marching on Kings Landing to see the burning rubble.

I got the impression that the servant girl really was a servant girl when she was checking out Jaime during the dinner party, and that in the middle of the night Arya killed her, cut off her face and performed the rest of her tasks with her new mask. Just a theory, though.

Also, was this the first time we actually hear Cersei verbally admit that she had Robert killed?
Eskhander 路 2016-06-27 18:01:00 路 #1560
Holy shit, I just realized something.

Yara, Dany, the Dorne chicks, and the old Tyrell woman are teaming up.

The Dornish women killed their men

The Tyrell woman disdains her son as a fool (he's dead now anyway)

Dany is leading an army of eunuchs

And Theon, Yara's brother, is also a eunuch.

BUT I AM SURE THIS HAS NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH PANDERING TO A FEMALE AUDIENCE.

Really the show is becoming more and more focused on relationships and "shocking twist porn". In another word, like a soap opera.

Again, nothing at all to do with the female audience /s

- Greyjoy's sister
- That little bad ass girl (how old is she, 8?)

Maybe I'm forgetting another.

Maybe I'm being too fair in saying this...

But that's what happens when you have a series of wars that go on too long. All the men die and all that are left are women, old men, boys, eunuchs, weaklings and connivers like Littlefinger. Game of Thrones is ultimately a story about the terrible consequences of war.
Repo 路 2016-06-27 19:02:00 路 #1562
Daenerys, Sansa, and Arya are the only characters on that list you could consider protagonists. John, Bran, and Jamie are the remaining male protagonists. Rest are side charactors. I suppose you could consider Tyrion a protagonist. Cersie, Euron, and the Night King the main antagonists.

What rustles me is that people are apparently happy the High Sparrow died...

It defies all rational thought that he was somehow worse than most alternatives.

Anyone notice that a single small knife wound was enough to completely incapacitate and instantly kill Lancel, stopping him from putting out those fires? Everyone could have been saved if it was Arya that got stabbed down there, considering she's able to run, swim, leap from buildings, and slaughter trained killers with far worse wounds. tard

because we like Arya so we cheer when she escapes. We dont like lancel so we cheer when he dies in a humiliating manner.

That's also why Cersei MUST be Queen. Because we love to hate her.

I cant imagine what subset of the population tends to weigh things in such an emotional manner...

Preston didn't like the season finale much.

I don't really get the hate. The only real plot hole is that Arya had all of that time to bake the pies?

And that's a good call about Arya not being the servant girl on the night of the banquet. She wouldn't be looking at Jaime all seductive, she would be planning on killing him.

And it really doesn't make sense that all of the Northern lords are rallying around John Snow, if he had stuck to his original plan with the trenches and it worked, then sure that would make sense. But he threw all of that away and was bailed out by the Vale knights.

If the Northern lords had said "Jon Snow knows how to fight the White Walker army, he is the closest thing to a Start lord that we have, and our best chance of surviving winter" then I could have understood that. Ah fuck it, still one of the best things on TV, and at this point, I just want it all to be over just to get some sort of ending, even if all we get is dragons killing white walkers.
Malone 路 2016-06-28 02:39:00 路 #1567
It's not a good call. She was looking at him all seductive because she needed to get him alone to kill him. She's an assassin. Should she wear a sign announcing her intentions?

Meh, Sansa's a chick and they're (mostly) men. Why wouldn't they choose Snow?

Arya has never shown any signs of sexuality on the show, or any of her characters(blind beth, the oyster merchant, or any of the others) as far as I recall. But the actress that plays her is probably like 20-25 by now so whatever.

Terrible commander in battle. Had a decent plan with the trenches and abandoned it at the last second. He needed Sansa and Petyr Baelish to rescue him otherwise he is dead.(again)

He is a bastard(as far as anyone knows) with no birthright and cannot hold land.

Deserted the knights watch.

That said, he is basically the same character as Ned and Robb. They all do the same things, for better or worse, and we know what to expect from him.

She was trained by the faceless men to become the face she wears. That includes sexuality.

It's just hard to believe, because we've yet to see her demonstrate all her training and skills on camera.

Mostly, she's just got the hell beaten out of her with a stick and she'd failed multiple training assignments.

Hard to suddenly accept that she is not only adept at facewear™ technology, but has also become a skilled actor capable of exhibiting the sexuality of a woman twice her age.

Would be more believable if we'd seen training of this type actually taking place.

It's become obvious to me, as well, that the resurrected and morally redeemed The Hound is going to fight his brother, the resurrected demon Sir Gregor.

Probably to give Arya access to Cersei.

So John Snow is not Ned Starks son, this is an interesting plot. For this he seems to be in line for claim to be king. He is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. He and Daenerys are the only ones with the right claim for the throne. But he has no right to claim to be king of the north when he isn't needs son, or is it enough to be the son of Lyanna Stark?
I think the travels mess up because they have to be all in one episode. Like Aria is there just short after Jamie left and Varis is back with Daenerys just after he did travel to Dorne. Of course the make the alliance and bring back the ships need time. But in the episode like it did all happen at when you see Varis at the end with Daenerys on the ship.

Who's left now? The Lannisters are the bad ones, John Snow just want to be king of the north and defend the white walkers. Daenerys will claim the throne. Why not make an alliance then with Snow when she already has the Graufreuds that still hold favour for the Starks when Theon did save Sansa? And the hound will kill his brother.

Young and was overtaken by the emotional loss of his (now) half-cousin? Cmon now.

Something that I don't think has been discussed is why Sansa held out on Jon with regard to the Vale's army. She knows Little Finger better than anyone else, the last thing she wanted to have to do was "owe" him one. Now she does. Unfortunately for him Sansa's influence has been usurped by the house heads' allegiance to Jon as the new King in the North. I think Sansa is probably relieved she's no longer "in charge" or in a position of authority. She'll work behind the scenes to undermine Little Finger - I'd imagine he may go after her in one of the later seasons once he realizes he will never have her.

Jon did not desert (as others have mentioned). He's also now (assuming Bran or someone can prove it) a valid heir to the Iron throne as the eldest male son of Rhaegar Targaryen and the older half-brother to Daenerys.

As for the whole fast travel stuff, unless these seasons were to go on for 25+ episodes there's simply too much to pack into each episode to avoid in my opinion. Unfortunate but a reality. You just have to assume that a lot of time is passing between some of these scenes.

Regarding Arya, who knows what else she learned during her training. I agree that the super-power healing was nonsense and there are a lot of plot holes and unexplained events, but I'm still entertained and roll with it. Presumably Arya killed the cooks while there were already pies being made, and butchered Walder Frey's sons somewhere after the first scene she appears masked.

Perhaps she learned (as in the books) how to cook when she was held captive in one of the early seasons - there has been a lot that was explained in the books but never in the show. Hard to say and hard to know how much time has elapsed since the "celebration" and what seems like is the end of the night. Could have gone from 6PM to 2AM for all we know, with everyone else too drunk, asleep, or dead to notice Arya zipping around killing people in the castle. I'd wager some of this might be explained next season, or in the books.

Either way, I'd still rather sit back and have to suspend belief and logic to enjoy the show than get bogged down on all the details.
