- Despite dozens of archers posted on Winterfell's walls, none of them are able to notice and shoot down a GIANT approaching over the vast open plain until it's already at the door. Despite being prepared for a siege, they also have no ballistae, catapults or defensive artillery.

- Asha (Yara) is able to sail the entire length of Westeros and a huge ocean in just a few days, same as Littlefinger who travels from the Vale to Castle Black to Vale to Winterfell in less than a week

Eh, I can forgive the fast travel around the world, they never specifically stated that the events in Essos and Westeros are all happening at the same time. (the kingsmoot may have happened a long ass time ago, like years ago, for instance).

But yeah the rest of it is sloppy story telling. I guess my main gripe at this point is that Winter is Coming and other than Dany's dragons, no one seems to have any sort of solution for it. Yeah, obsidian daggers and Valyrian Steel swords(there are like 5 in the world, Brienne has one, Sam now has one, and Jon Snow has one).

The one king that took it seriously, Stannis, is dead. They have a dozen or so episodes left to somehow resolve the end of the world from the ice zombies and I'm guessing they will just go with "dragons". Those dragons look absolutely indestructible at this point, and they are relatively young, only like 6 years old, (although again, we don't really know how much time is passing, it isn't specifically stated, maybe Dany hatched those dragons a decade ago but dragons live hundreds of years so 10 years old is pretty young).

I am not going to call the show shit unless if Dany teams up with the Sand Snakes and they all work together to overthrow the ruling of weak men. Then that would be shit.

I'm also guessing that Dany will have to leave some of her army and officers behind to keep stability in Mereen. Who stays in Mereen? Who comes to Westeros?

Littlefinger has always been my favorite character, especially in the books, where his plans are extremely logical. I started hating the show after season 4 when they started making him do extremely uncharacteristic and illogical things that completely defile his character...like giving away two of his most powerful wards in Sansa and Robin. His entire plot revolves around holding those wards.

I think it showed hope that the showrunners could condense things into masterful new moments like that scene.

No one is perfect, including Littlefinger. It's wonderful to see him slip up just a bit, especially to such an awkward and illogical abuser of power like Cersei.

It's a good reminder that, at the end of the day, all plans go out the window when some psychopath has a dagger to your throat.

I'll use an example from sports. I have seen barely competent hockey players score (one on one) with AAA level goalies, just because they are so unpredictable. They cannot head-fake, do not have patterns of play, and frequently (because of bad technique) shoot the puck in a different direction that they are aiming.

Since the better goalie is used to quickly reading higher level players, the complete non-reading he gets from the passable player will sometimes throw him off. I've seen it happen many times.

Just so in this scene.

Littlefinger is the master of the long game. In the books he has been plotting since his early teenage years for all of this. For over 2 decades. This is not just a random fuck-up, it goes against everything he stands for, and is intentional.

Also, showing the devotion of the soldiers to Cersei also goes against the point of the story. The whole point of it goes back to the Varys riddle of where does power lie - with the king, the wealthy man, and the priest, all telling the man with the sword to kill the others, where does power lie? What is honor? What are soldiers fighting for? What is loyalty? Which vows to follow?

By showing soldiers doing everything perfectly goes completely against the murky anti-war message of the story.

The only way that scene could be redeemed would be if those soldiers were secretly under Littlefinger's employ and were just play-acting for Cersei, which if this were a book scene would actually have been the case. Now THAT would have been good writing.

There is a theory that Jaime will kill Frey and his entire house just like he killed Rob and his army, in the preview of episode 10 we can see while Frey is having a toast Jaime is not much int the happy mood, and he is not drinking, like Bolton was not drinking during the red weeding, the theory says this way Jaime can get redemption for the Starks, evening the odds.

Episode 9 wasnt so bad. I enjoyed it myself, especially Ramsays end.

This annoyed me the most since it was the deus ex machina type moment that saves Jon Snow's ass again. He's running out in the middle of the battlefield like a dolt with a whole field of cavalry charging in and then suddenly out of nowhere he gets saved.

You are right they even made it a specific point to say that they didn't have cavalry that could go up against the Boltons. Yet magically they did.

The giant, with basic armor, a shield and a mace, would have been like a tank on an ancient battlefield.

The first two seasons of GOT had quality writing in that it kept us guessing. Most recent episode was nothing more than a popcorn Hollywood film where the result is all but guaranteed.

So where does this leave GRRM and the ASOIAF series? Is what happened on the show going to happen in the books?

I have read the first two books, a few of the early episodes, and the last two seasons so far. There are elements that keep me watching and elements that make me want to ditch the whole series. I tend to think that it is overly graphic at times and fits well with the SJW mantra that you get from HBO, two items that I have a problem with. On the other side of that coin, heroes actually die in the series, which is a good compared to other series that are out there. I would like to see the whole series play out before I make a decision to recommend it to anyone.

It might be for the horse's safety, they're actors, not real medieval swordsmen adept at getting onto them with 5lbs long weights on their waists.

Would be a pretty funny headline if the actor accidently stabbed the horse with a real sword while trying to mount. SJWs wouldnt know whether to turn on the show or not.

This would have solve so many problems.

Even though the season finale is tonight, my body isn't ready for it. I hope its a good episode but I sense girl power will ruin everything.

This episode had a feel totally unlike any previous episode.

Yeah, the first half hour was especially good. The music combined with lack of dialogue was very moving.

Yes, purely visual. Interesting music. I noticed that almost immediately. I'll have to see if there was more than one director, as after that sequence was done, it was back to being like a regular episode.
