US transfers funds meant for Pakistan for building Mexico border wall

Quote:WASHINGTON: The United States is transferring $1.5 billion meant for Afghanistan and Pakistan to a fund to build the Mexican border wall, says acting Defence Secretary Patrick Shanahan.

The funds have been reprogrammed despite an increase in attacks inside Afghanistan and a complaint by the US chief negotiator that peace talks with the Taliban are not moving at a sufficient pace.

“We reprogrammed $1.5 billion towards the construction of more than 120 miles of border barrier without impacting readiness,” Mr Shanahan said in a statement released late Friday.

More than $600 million of these funds come from an Afghan security forces account while an unspecified amount was taken from the funds previously meant for Pakistan.

“The funds were culled from a variety of sources, to include unexecuted prior year funds, the suspension of reimbursements to Pakistan, and costs reductions in a series of contracts,” Secretary Shanahan said.

The Pentagon announced that the reprogrammed money will be used to build more than 120 miles of barriers along the US-Mexico border.

Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, who heads the US team negotiating a peace deal with the Taliban, said on Friday that the peace talks were not only moving at a slow place but had also failed to halt increasing attacks on civilian and military targets.

“We made steady but slow progress on aspects of the framework for ending the Afghan war. We are getting into the nitty gritty. The devil is always in the details,” he wrote in a tweet.

“However, the current pace of talks isn’t sufficient when so much conflict rages and innocent people die. We need more and faster progress. Our proposal for all sides to reduce violence also remains on the table,” he added.

US and Taliban representatives have held six rounds of direct talks since October in Doha, Qatar, to end the 18-year war in Afghanistan. The latest round of negotiations with the Taliban ended on Thursday.

The Afghan government, however, is not involved in the talks as the Taliban refused to sit with Kabul, after calling it a US “puppet”. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, however, has called the current round of talks “positive”, adding that “progress” was made on some points but others were “yet to be finalised”.

The talks have, so far, focused on two key points: the full withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan and ensuring that Afghanistan is not used as a base to harm other countries.

Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, the head of the Taliban’s political office in Doha, and Mullah Baradar, a co-founder of the militant group, were leading the Taliban team in the talks.

120,000 troops ??!!!!!! No wayyyyyyyyy

With the developments of the last couple of weeks, one wonders if this is now a case of WHEN rather than IF.

Quote:Donald Trump has reportedly been presented with a plan to send as many as 120,000 troops to the Middle East to counter the so-called Iranian threat, the New York Times reported.
Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan disclosed the updated military plan at a meeting of Trump's top security aides on Thursday, the publication said, quoting anonymous sources inside the administration.

Several options to tackle Tehran in the region were outlined to the president during the briefing, while "the uppermost option called for deploying 120,000 troops, which would take weeks or months to complete," the Times said.

While the revisions "ordered" by "hard-liners" do not promulgate a land invasion of Iran, "the development reflects the influence of Mr. Bolton, one of the administration’s most virulent Iran hawks,” The Times reported. Bolton has been a long-time advocate of using military force against Tehran, even penning an op-ed in 2015 titled “Top Stop Iran’s Bomb, Bomb Iran.”

The proposal to send additional reinforcements comes amid accusations from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that Tehran has been engaging in “an escalating series of threatening actions and statements in recent weeks.” To counter the unspecified threat, the Pentagon has already deployed the USS ‘Abraham Lincoln’ carrier strike group and bomber task force, including B-52s, to the region.

The deployment came exactly a year after Washington unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), and renewed sanctions against the Islamic Republic’s financial, oil and banking sectors. The US has also labeled Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Corps a “terrorist organization,” triggering a tit-for-tat response from Tehran.

Meanwhile, Iran said it will cancel part of its obligations under the nuclear agreement, and urged the European signatories to tackle Washington's pressure.

The US sabre rattling is "attempting to magnify the shadow of war," Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi explained on Sunday night, noting that American military buildup in the region is "theatrical and useless."

120 000 troops is, coincidentally, the number of troops involved in the invasion of Iraq. Does not bode well.

Looks like the whole Iran shitshow is going to happen.

-First it was saber rattling like usual
-Then "credible threats" from who knows where
-Deployment of more navy groups
-Bombers being moved into the theater,
-Then "sabotage" of ships local to the region
-Now he wants to deploy troops?

Fuck that, we do not need another middle east shit show on behalf of Israel & Saudis.

Well this will at least be the litmus test that shows the American voter than their opinions and ballots are utterly inconsequential.

You had Obama's DNC cozying up to Iran so the street-Left is not on board with this.
You had a lifelong Democrat running as a Republican on an (in part) anti-war platform who won the presidency so the street-Right isn't on board with this either.
Meanwhile Iran has wisely done so little to provoke the US recently that not even faggot shills like Shapiro can make a case for attacking them.

If a war gets kicked off with Iran it will be the final and penultimate GloboJewish fuck you to the american voter.

"You stupid fucking goys will march where we fucking tell to march and kill who we fucking tell you to kill."

I still don't think a war with Iran kicks off unless Trump wins a 2nd term. Otherwise there will just be a lot more troops and equipment in the middle east waiting for the word that will not come until at least November 2020.

Do even Israelis themselves want a war with Iran that badly? I find it hard to believe that a random commoner in Tel Aviv spends their time thinking how wonderful it would be to invade another country and become even more hated around the world. Or do they simply not care since it's USA who does the dirty work for them?

Yeah this is bad.

What's the pretext? Iran bad?

I agree. I think it would happen in a second term. Let’s hope Bolton is gone by then.

Bibi wants a war with Iran, but his army won't give it to him since the IAF doesn't have the balls; so he has ordered Mr MAGA to send American marines to do the job.

Trump needs to go. Him, Pompeo, Bolton, Bibi, Kushner, etc are trying to cause Armageddon. Christians and Muslims will kill each other, the Dome of the Rock will be destroyed, Israel will build the 3rd Temple and then they will unveil their Moshiach/Messiah to rule over the goyim as the chosen people. This is the Christian Anti-Christ.

So you believe in the End of Days as predicted in the bible, and you'd prefer it DIDN'T happen?

Or is it just Orange Man Bad?

No, I think that people who actively try and force these things to happen are bound to cause catastrophic damage to a significant amount of people. I'd rather that not happen. If prophecies are to happen, it will be by divine power, not human intervention.

America is an empire, so no matter who is in charge you are going to get a war, because war is the primary objective of empires. Elect a Democrat. War. Elect a Republican. War. It's best to just withdraw and improve your own life. We have zero influence. The best scenario is a disaster. The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest prompted Caesar Augustus to stop the expansion of the Roman Empire. Then maybe we can see Bolton's head on a pike.

No, I don't think the average person in Tel Aviv wants war with Iran. But AIPAC has been pushing for this war for decades now, and one way or another they'll get it. Israel will get to sit on the sidelines while America does all the dirty work.

So while the average Israeli probably doesn't want war with Iran, they won't be the ones to send their loved ones to die, which means the Jewish Lobby (AKA AIPAC) will get zero push back from the regular everyday Israeli because they're probably unaware of just how extensive AIPAC's power is in American politics. Much like the average American is oblivious to it too.

EDIT: It's worth noting that the Saudi's have been clamoring for this war too. I know AIPAC and Israel are mentioned often, but the Saudi's are absolutely in bed with the Israeli's on this one. If and when America goes to war with Iran, Americans will by dying for both the Israeli's and the Saudi's, while not a drop of Israeli or Saudi blood will be lost.

It's ironic that the only mainstream US Presidential candidate with any balls on them regarding Israel is a woman:

I think what needs to be mentioned is that we live in a world in which its getting easier to build a nuke. Rouge nations like Iran, who supports terrorism, need to be ground in to dust. We were hit on 9/11 with an attack that killed 3,000 Americans. We do not need a suitcase or container ship nuke attack that could kill 300,000.

I understand Iraq turned into a shit show with Obama and the cost in dollars and cents is staggering. That does not in any way mean that war is never necessary.

I thought it was obvious back in 2008 or there abouts that we needed to roll into Iran (while we had the equipment and troops already there) and let Iraq burn. They are responsible for hundreds of American service members deaths.

Fuck them. the world needs to know that we aint fucking around. If you start building nukes and have a bunch of terrorists fucking shit up, you get ground to dust.

Fuck NK too. I'd give China one more chance to get them under control. If they dont, than they can suck ass when it comes time to see who will control the New Korea.

Rouge nations like Iran? There is nothing rogue about Iran. They look after their own interests, like every other country in the world. Iran poses no threat to the USA. I'm not saying their political policies in the Middle East are right or wrong. Honestly, I don't care. Let the Middle Easterners handle their own shit. They pose not one threat to the US.

Let the Israeli's and Saudi's get their hands dirty if they want to duke it out with Iran. Not our problem.

I'de say everyday Persians are more of an ally to whites and Europeans than what the people in African or Asian nations are. Decades of propaganda will have you believe otherwise, but maybe if the CIA didn't mess that country up with the whole Shah thing back in the day than Iran, AKA Persia, would be a more liberal and probably 10X better version of what Turkey is today.

Nah we don't need to fight Iran, unless you're just another neocon warmonger.

Guess you forgot how the US destabilized Iran back in the day, weird.

If my enemy had fucking nukes you damn well know I'll be trying my best to create nukes to defend myself with MAD.

Rogue nations like X (US & Israel) who support terrorism need to be ground in to dust.

(See what I did there?)

Quote:We were hit on 9/11 with an attack that killed 3,000 Americans. We do not need a suitcase or container ship nuke attack that could kill 300,000.

What does this have to do with anything? Besides that it was done by the Saudi's and hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed in Iraq & Afghanistan?

Yeah apples to apples right there tard

Quote:I understand Iraq turned into a shit show with Obama and the cost in dollars and cents is staggering. That does not in any way mean that war is never necessary.

Under Obama? Guess you conveniently forgot that Bush and Neocons invaded Iraq, oh AND Afghanistan, did I mention we're still in the Stan' ?

Obama did his fair share with Libya, Egypt, Syria, and the Arab spring, oh and Ukraine.

Please explain in detail why the war in Iraq was "necessary", I'd love to hear your answers on this.

Quote:I thought it was obvious back in 2008 or there abouts that we needed to roll into Iran (while we had the equipment and troops already there) and let Iraq burn. They are responsible for hundreds of American service members deaths.

Our troops were mismanaged, misused, and leaders were misguided.

That's why needed the surge after the "MiSSioN AcComPliShEd" speech.

Not to mention we fucked the Iraqi hierarchy up so bad that we let roving death squads kill eachother in sectarian violence for years.

Oh did I mentioned it ended with us leaving Iraq and then ISIS coming to power to which the US helped ISIS destabilized Syria and that shit show?

Quote:Fuck them. the world needs to know that we aint fucking around. If you start building nukes and have a bunch of terrorists fucking shit up, you get ground to dust.

FuCk IrAn & ChInA & nK (unless I have to go to war myself and fight them!).

Get the fuck out of here with your warmongering BS - noones buying it - unless you're bought and paid for by Isreal and the Saudis.
