The Pentagon's inspector general has cleared the acting defense secretary of favoring Boeing, his former employer.

The judgment could mean acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan could soon be up for an official nomination for the job.

Officials close to Shanahan have said they believe one of the main reasons he has not been nominated yet was because of the inspector general's investigation. Trump has had numerous opportunities during the past few months to nominate him but has not yet done so.

Shanahan, 56, who spent more than three decades at Boeing, is the longest serving acting defense secretary ever. He took over at the Pentagon on Jan. 1 after Jim Mattis resigned amid policy differences with Trump.

The official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the inspector general found no evidence of wrongdoing and could put out the report publicly as early as Thursday.

The inspector general started the investigation in March after a watchdog group filed a complaint alleging Shanahan promoted aerospace firm Boeing in meetings and disparaged competitors.

Not sure if these were already posted but some minor positive developments.

The 9th circuit appeals(of all places) have ruled that asylum seekers that come in through the entry points will have to stay in Mexico for their case to be resolved.

Also, the pentagon has diverted another $1.5 billion to the border wall and says they they have already secured some $3.5 billion for additional wall which will be rolled out in the next months.

There are reports of Miller trying to push for "expedited hearings" and family unit deportations but there seems to be some pushback since they don't want more media outrage like those kids in cages.

On the international front:

Syrian army mission to recapture idlib has not received much attention. Looks like they are rolling through with russian assistance and so far Trump isn't really interested. The faster Assad reasserts himself all over syria, the faster refugees can return.

European elections are coming up and the nationalists should make gains.

To a point. A lot of America's "advanced weaponry" was useless in the current conflicts and they know it. One example is that the Americans started reacting to heat-sensitive IEDs by putting these fancy decoys with IR LED's that hang in front of the vehicle. They cost thousands of dollars each.

The Iraqis adjusted within a matter of days by just angling the IED's slightly back so that they'd hit 15 feet or so behind whatever set the device off. It cost them zero dollars to counter this solution we'd implemented with some ungodly price tag attached.
