So I guess I have to be the one to break the news that Pence's religion is listed on Wikipedia as "Evangelicalism" (sourced from U.S. News and World Report here). My guess is that if he's Trump's pick, his religious affiliations are the reason why.

I keep mentioning on here that I have a cousin who is a big deal in the Evangelical community. He and his cucked buddies are *still* going on about ways to un-do Trump's nomination. I mean they do this literally every day on Facebook, as if it was still April.

These guys are no small potatoes either, sad to say. Many of them hold posts at religious universities. Like my cousin, they have gigantic "flocks" of students who hang on their every word. Also like my cousin, some have also authored religious books -- the kind you and me might never see but sell big to this community.

So, their approval -- even grudgingly -- spells lots of votes. I guess Trump had to shore up this bloc of voters -- same as John McCain did when he picked Sarah Palin.

It's a shame the Republican Party has to cater to this wing. From what I gather by reading Red Pill Religious Blogs like Dalrock (which I would urge everyone to read), a culture has developed around this religion that's extremely Blue Pill and feminist. He even has a name for it: Churchianity.

It's damn shame. Trump has a real opportunity to cut out these religious fanatics and cucks out for good but I guess he rather as you say, shore up the base vs trying to grow the silent majority from all political factions.

I suppose in other words: Trump has to lose the battle to win the war (get elected).

I also suppose Trump after a successful first term could replace Pence in 2020 with a VP choice more aligned with his views; someone that is ripe to be groomed to eventually run in 2024.

Although people have listed downsides to Pence, please note these downsides only happen if Trump is somehow killed. As a VP, Pence has no power, but he does attract Evangelical voters. Trump is gambling he won't get assassinated, and he wants those midwestern Cuck votes. He's taking a bit of risk but figures the payoff is worth.
Samseau · 2016-07-15 01:40:00 · #35707
Also, please note that Trump was the first in the world news to comment on the Nice attacks. Trump was on major news channels like FOX before Obama, Hillary, or even Hollande made any statements. Trump is clearly high-energy and on the ball, which shows voters he is for real and will get results. People are becoming dependent on Trump for guidance in these troubled times, and by the time November rolls around shit is gonna be so bad people will be begging for Trump's continued leadership.

People being vetted for the vice presidency undergo an extraordinarily invasive screening process. It's very possible there are skeletons in the closets of the other candidates that made them unsuitable or simply too risky to consider. In that case, Pence may have simply been the last man standing, the best of a bad lot simply by virtue of not having any major disqualifiers in his past. And to be clear: policy disagreements are not disqualifiers. This is politics. Pence is a politician, and he knows how to play the political game. Indeed, that's a major reason Trump was scouting him him the team to begin with. He wants someone seasoned in Washington politics. He needs an insider with a little dirt on his uniform. If Trump didn't believe that Pence was at the very least controllable (if not totally willing to come on board totally with his agenda) then there is absolutely no way he would have picked him. No way. This is why I'm simply saying: have a little faith in Trump's judgment. It's gotten him this far.

This is so corny.

There's a reason why the father's of Western thought actively discouraged this empty style of arguing. It just becomes a dick measuring contest and doesn't accomplish anything.

But hey, man, if you really want to be "right" and prove how "wound up" I am, have at it.

Since this religion is very closely tied in with missionary work, their views on immigration tend to be both extremely liberal and naive. Not a good sign.

The appeal of this campaign has been its "eff you" hard-edge, which I think appeals to far more people than are willing admit to pollsters. I hope Pence doesn't soften this, because it'll ruin what was good to begin with.

To put it another way, not all metal albums need a ballad. Sometimes the situation calls for Motorhead.

Speaking of music, if the modern-day Evangelical community had to be summed up by one song, it would be this recent country hit. Dunno how many of you have heard the lyrics, but make sure there's a barf bucket handy:

Is that what's going to win the election though?

We already saw McCain and Romney both fail miserably going that route.

In my opinion, it's a mistake for Trump to supplicate himself to win favor with a group that is 1. delusional, and 2. doesn't decide elections.

He'd be better served making a play for moderates, which is where he has the advantage of past Republican candidates.

To be clear, I don't think he should actively pander to moderates either. He just needs to keep up the more calm, presidential tone that he's been using.

And as I pointed out previously, I think Pence is going to hurt with that demographic -- from several different angles. I think someone like Carson would've been a better choice if he really wanted to target Evangelicals.

We'll see though. I'm still not convinced that the Pence rumors aren't just misdirection by the Trump camp.

Could it be as simple as Trump deciding the campaign name could be abused? Trump-Huntsman becomes "Trump Hunts Man" and the left could make a whole bunch of "Most Dangerous Game" comparisons. It's not as bad as Hillary's "Love Trumps Hate", but it's still a silly thought I had.

As I've said before long ago in this thread, I grew up in Indiana. Although I don't live there anymore, I still keep some track of Indiana politics. Pence really isn't popular there outside of the evangelical community. He's been a bungling mess as governor. As listed in this thread, the alt-right doesn't like him for his pro-TPP, pro-Muslim cuckiness. And the left doesn't like him for signing the religious freedom bill that permits discrimination and an idiotic bill that outlaws a woman aborting a baby because it's deformed. So who exactly is Pence supposed to appeal to?

I know a few people, including my own mother, who are still undecided about this election. I'd have a much easier time persuading them to vote Trump if he doesn't pick Pence. One friend flat out told me she probably can't vote for Trump now because of how much she hates Pence.

I'm still hoping that this whole Pence business is just Trump trolling everyone for media attention. Maybe he'll pick Huntsman, Sessions, or Rand Paul as a complete surprise. That would be in keeping with Trump's style.

But if he's serious about Pence, then I'll just have to trust his judgment that locking down the evangelicuck vote is worth losing a significant fraction of independents.

Guys, Pence isn't my choice for Trump's wingman, but he does help shore up the Cuck vote.

I am actually wondering if Trump is playing Game of Thrones and intentionally stringing Pence along so he doesn't meet the deadline for Indiana Gov. to get him out of the way (and also contributing to Ryan's demise at the same time by secretly funding Neihlin's campaign).

Also, on another topic, the BLM movement has a "day of rage" scheduled in 37 cities. It should really be called "Hunt Down Whitey and Steal Shit".

Think they'll cancel it after Nice? *sarcasm of course

These idiots are going to run wild and probably find themselves getting shot on top of being recorded doing all sorts of terrible things.

This will even wake up white liberals and reasonable blacks.

P L E A S E READ THIS WARNING ... PLEASE BEWARE!!!

It is amazing that A NATIONWIDE BLM PROTEST has been scheduled with such precision and expediency, immediately following the Assault and Killing of 5 Police Officers in Dallas while they were protecting the BLM’s 1st Amendment Rights during a peaceful Protest in Dallas, Texas .
And it is absolutely impossible to consider that BlackLivesMatter leader DeRay Mckesson meeting today July 13th, 2016, with (only) Obama, Lynch, and Al Sharpton in the White House was entirely coincidental or a spur of the moment appointment virtually immediately after he was release from jail.

There can be no doubt that the Obama Administration /s (past and present), Hillary with Soros FUNDING are deliberately orchestrating these protests and riots, just as they did during the early months of the Primary. And sadly, it is all flowing exactly as Soros said it would in a interview. … all his plan to manipulate the US into the AIU and NWO.

I've never seen a liberal ever explain concisely why Trump would be worse than Hillary.

Trump has never even held public office and has been very successful in business. Trump arguably has a much better track record professionally than Hillary.

Hillary has been a huge disaster in any public office or any policy she's been a part of as well as engaging in outright corruption. This idea that Hillary is "better" simply has no foundation in reality.

It's a emotional kneejerk argument against Trump because he's a big bad conservative or he said mean things that hurt their feelings.

That's why the default reply by these infants is snark because there's simply no actual proof that Trump would be worse.

From an outsider point of view, let me tell you, it seems a huge and obvious mistake not to nominate a woman to the VP job.

Nominating a (younger, prettier, smarter and of course uncrooked) woman would steal the wind from Hillary's sails...

By nominating (or so it seems) a non-young, white-male VP, Trump I fear is making a strategic mistake. I pray to God that he will surprise us all and nominate a nice, still young, sharp and honest Conservative lady!

Sarah Palin was the failed experiment that is the female VP nomination. He doesn't need to pick a woman. By doing so he could unwittingly be throwing away the election. Better a safe bet.

Just what we need, more women in politics. Like Gmac said, McCain tried that in 2008. Pandering doesn't work. Look where it has gotten the GOP.

The only woman I'd want to see on his ticket is Ivanka, provided she has those titties on full display at all times.

VP Pence is a good decision.

The only VP possibility who has always been one hundred percent on board the train is Senator Sessions, who supposedly turned it down to stay in the Senate.

So, it comes down to who President Trump wants to work with, since literally everyone else mentioned has had to cross the aisle and has extensive past political differences with Mr. Trump's platform.

The man in charge made his decision, because it's his decision to make.
sixsix · 2016-07-15 07:15:00 · #35719
Since the noble and still underrated American Hero Jeff Sessions is likely not going to be the VP pick, and for some good strategic reasons, I would love to see this wonderful never-going-to-happen pick:

Senior policy adviser Stephen Miller.

It would be beyond ridiculous and I would question the campaign's sanity but damn he's one of the few people I really want to see rise in influence even more. A genuinely stand-up man and a superb speaker. And seeing that he also has the one great and defining quality that Sessions has and everyone else lacks (ideological conviction and loyalty) he is great.

Nonsense, but if I could place a $10.00 1:100 bet I'd do it for the hell of it.

Edit: Regarding Pence for VP, I'll believe it when it's announced. Again, could be games, though despite his many misgivings I can understand the reasoning behind picking a politician like him, unfortunately.

Don't worry, this is going to happen. Politics isn't an overnight thing. Trump has already changed the game drastically and if he wins, the Republican Party will certainly realign. Even if he doesn't, the genie is out of the bottle, though the process may be slower. Trump showed that the electoral market is there, so to speak. When was the last time you saw a Republican with a serious, serious shot at winning Pennsylvania?

Guys here are really overestimating the impact that the VP has. I have my reservations about Pence, but he does the things that you need him to do, which is shore up the cuck vote and turnout and sends the message that Trump will have a visibly steady, even, calm, and experienced hand in terms of actually governing to help him get the job done. He's not perfect, but he should help in making Trump less scary, which is what you need your VP pick to do here.

Trump will drive the agenda. Don't kid yourselves. The VP pick doesn't do much. You just need to pick someone who won't hurt you, and Pence doesn't hurt Trump.

I always tell myself "at least it's not Christie," who Trump was apparently seriously leaning toward at the end but thankfully his family and Paul Manafort talked him out of it.

And Newt Gingrich brings a lot of positives, but he's a wild card who could easily fuck Trump up in some way. Look at what he was talking about on Fox News last night in wake of Nice, which would have only reinforced further the "crazy racist" kill shot on Trump, just like clockwork. Recall that I said that exact thing yesterday morning.

I told you the last two weeks were decisive and Trump is already making the persuasion moves Scott Adams predicted. His response in the wake of Nice was far more level and avoided the mistakes he made after Orlando, a key insight that he learns quickly. He just needs to keep being strong, but at the same time non-controversial, and not fuck up. Pence doesn't fuck him up.

Basically they try to make an emotional argument, and in a true liberal's mind, Obamacare is a good thing, and so are all of his executive orders.

Just because Sarah Palin was "a failed experiment" (I disagree on this, McCain himself was the failed experiment, he -willingly- gifted victory to Obama -notably by refusing to talk about the birth document-, she Sarah had nothing to do with the defeat), does not mean all politician women would be a failed mistake.

So I guess the sad truth might be, Trump did not find the perfect female candidate: still young but not too young, pretty but serious-looking, intelligent, ambitious but not overtly, sharp talker, married conservative female charismatic politician. Too bad. But, it won't stop the Trump train, we remain positive!

It's the passive aggressive technique of shutting down any actual debate which would involve facts while also calling the opponent stupid at the same time.

In person retards like this usually follow the conversation up with a sigh or rolling of eyes before trying to explain their shitty politics or bowing out completely at first opportunity.

He is not happy about the pick and from what he has said Many people in Indiana dislike Pence. He made it sound as if many people asked for his resignation. He said Pense spews hate(I haven't heard him say this about Trump). To put it into context I am about 95% certain that my friend is a closet homo and has a man living with him so I am wondering if Pence is simply a "homophobe" that hurt his feelings.
