Gonna grab some cheap shares for Pence not chosen just in case... as Trump has been known to pull these kinds of stunts in the past, only to flip the script at the last second. Already earned a bunch with Newt not being the pick. Laugh

Check out Pence's voting record:

Quote:2008: Lonely GOP dissent against Wall Street bailout. (Aug 2010)

Mindblown

Pence is the only other GOP guy besides Rand Paul who voted against those bailouts. That's a big plus in my book. Pence may be in favor of big businesses who want free trade, but at least he's not sucking big bankster cock. The bankers are far more dangerous than the guys who want to employ sweatshop slaves.

I think had Rand Paul not been such a little bitch this election season, he could have been Trump's VP. At least Trump found the one other guy with a bit of backbone in the GOP to be the VP.

He very well might be. There's no doubt in my mind people in the Trump camp are reading reddit/4chan/alt-right. Unlike Hillary's campaign, these guys have their noses to the ground. They know what's up. And I'm sure the Donald is getting updates on how Mike Pence is a poor VP choice. Pence/Newt/etc --- straight up A/B testing.

Looks to be another terrorist attack in France, and on Bastille Day no less. This will help Trump. 4 big attacks in the span of as many months is not something you can ignore. Political correctness needs to take a backseat to reality sooner or later. I saw some polls last month that had over 50% in favor of Trump's "Muslim ban."
Foolsgo1d 路 2016-07-14 17:35:00 路 #35659
50% just became 60%

Pence just landed at an airport in New Jersey and is heading over to Trump Tower. It's pretty much official.

I wonder how many people Trump has employed on his Meme Dream Team? Now, if only he could get elected and put Coulter in charge of Press Sec duties, complete with an unhinged Twitter account and memes galore. The lefties heads would literally explode. Big Grin

Mindblown

I think it's Pence no matter what, given that the other choices are apparently Christie and Newt - he better not change his mind...

Let's remind ourselves why we need Trump in the White House to lead America.

Hillary's delivery is unbearable. I'd rather hear the doctor tell me I caught herpes than another joke out of her mouth.

The Pence pick is a great decision by Trump. I wanted Sessions -- and Sessions would make a great second in command for Trump -- but the choice of Pence might be even better, all things considered. It's a safe, reassuring, non-scary pick, the guy is likable and competent, and it helps unify the party and all varieties of conservatives, which is essential to mobilizing the GOTV operation come November.

The Pence pick signals that Trump is serious and is playing to win. He understands that any personal preferences are secondary to the overarching goal. And with the hit that the Hag has taken in the polls -- all thanks to Jim Comey's superbly delivered press conference -- the goal is more achievable than ever.

There is a great deal of work to do and Trump must keep making the right moves. But I've never felt better about his chances in November than I do now. He is still the underdog, but he is closer now to having an even shot than he was at any previous time.

The recent movement in the polls is real and undeniable, but it's mainly voters turning away from Hillary; they are not (yet) deciding on Trump. Trump's job is to convince these voters -- especially suburban women and college educated whites -- that he is not a scary, risky, and reckless choice; that he will bring change and renovation, but not chaos and uncertainty. The Pence pick is the beginning of that process, and if it can continue in the same direction it may yet -- despite the most intense and unrelenting media propaganda campaign of all time -- carry him to a victory in November. There is a real chance.

How does the latest attack in Nice, France (RIP) change the situation, guys? Will libtards wake up or not?
Libertas 路 2016-07-14 19:25:00 路 #35672
No, but it can wake up wavering independents and old school New Deal type Democrats.

Trump needs to respond to this, but with assurance and steadiness, not like he did after Orlando (too strong too quickly). His step of delaying his VP announcement seems to suggest that he learned his lesson there.

Guys, Pence tweeted as recently as December that banning Muslims was offensive and unconstitutional.

He also led an effort for amnesty of illegals.

This guy is a cuck.

Trump on the Nice attacks on The O'Reilly Factor:

Trump: "We have to get rid of this cancer"

O'Reilly: "Would you go to Congress and ask for a declaration of war?"

Trump: "I would, I would. This is war! Coming from all different parts. Frankly it's war and we're dealing with people without uniforms."

1. You are just as much an "armchair general" as anyone else in this thread.

And for the record, people like Ann Coulter and Mike Cernovich, who actually have influence within the Trump campaign, have also vocally disagreed with the potential Pence pick.

2. No one is saying "woe is me, Trump is doomed". He hasn't even announced his selection.

3. Yes, Trump knows more about his own campaign than me or anyone here. Obviously. That is true of every discussion we've had in this 1,428 page thread, and almost any other discussion in the Politics & War subsection.

The facts are that Pence supported amnesty, supported the TPP, called Trump's Muslim ban "offensive", and endorsed Cruz when he was already losing badly and most people were calling for him to withdraw.

We know all of these things to be true... for a fact.

Calling people "armchair generals" because they disagree with your interpretation of the facts is not an argument. It's empty rhetoric.

I think we're all smart enough here that we don't need blow smoke up each other's asses.

Relax. You're clearly very wound up. No one is blowing smoke up your ass. I'm just saying that Trump is a very smart guy with great instincts. He knows what he's doing. There's a reason he selected Pence ahead of his other choices. He is privy to information that you, and I, and Ann Coulter and Mike Cernovich do not have. People being vetted for the vice presidency undergo an extraordinarily invasive screening process. It's very possible there are skeletons in the closets of the other candidates that made them unsuitable or simply too risky to consider. In that case, Pence may have simply been the last man standing, the best of a bad lot simply by virtue of not having any major disqualifiers in his past. And to be clear: policy disagreements are not disqualifiers. This is politics. Pence is a politician, and he knows how to play the political game. Indeed, that's a major reason Trump was scouting him him the team to begin with. He wants someone seasoned in Washington politics. He needs an insider with a little dirt on his uniform. If Trump didn't believe that Pence was at the very least controllable (if not totally willing to come on board totally with his agenda) then there is absolutely no way he would have picked him. No way. This is why I'm simply saying: have a little faith in Trump's judgment. It's gotten him this far.

Some of these relative recent anti-Trump positions (TPP, muslim ban, etc) by Pence are quite disturbing. He still might have been the best "safe" choice of the lot but I'm still not super thrill with it. These are major Trump platforms and to not have your second in command on-board with the fundamentals as short as 1-2 years ago is not legit. The more I learn about Pence in this thread, the less I like him. I get why he is being picked from a electability standpoint but it's disappointing that this is the best Trump could come up with. But again, this might be the best of the available options so so be it.

More broadly speaking, I have some grave concerns with a non-ideological aligned VP choice. Trump attracts A LOT of violent hostility from both political ends and having some anti-assassination insurance via a VP would have been a smart move in my view. God forbid something happens to Trump, I have little confidence Pence would carry on the torch. Why should we believe Pence suddenly is on the Trump train? That sonbitch endorsed Cruz deep into the primary election season right before a critical state primary! I'm a bit surprised some people here are really comfortable with Pence as VP. Is he an "adequate" safe choice who isn't likely to do anything major to fuck things up like Palin? Yeah, sure.

But let's not kid ourselves that this guy is a loyal Trump player at his core. Will he do his duty? Sure. Will he stick by Trump and his ideals in the 11th hour or if Trump is gone via death or incapacitation? I highly doubt it. I sure as shit won't be voting for Pence 8 years for now. Not unless I see some real actions by Pence that indicates he has evolved on his positions.

That said: I still can't for the life of me understand why Huntsman never got serious consideration (from what I can tell) from Trump. Maybe Huntsman shot the idea down early. He is only 55 and could run again in the future; maybe he didn't want to chance having his solid rep ruined by Trump. But goddamn...Huntsman was and still is the near perfect VP choice for Trump. A damn near perfect counter-balance to Trump's personality and skillset deficiencies while also appealing to independents and moderates. I guarantee you... the democrats would violently shit themselves if Trump rolled out Huntsman as VP.

I'm still holding out my 1% of hope for a left field Huntsman pick. Biggrin

Also, consider that maybe Pence doesn't have a ton of skeletons and wasn't a raving (insert vice here) craved maniac in DC.

MEANING, the people who ran him don't have much dirt on him meaning they can't burn him.

His soft spoken image and "family man" perception would support this.

I did a search on this thread for "Evangelical" and it didn't come up in relation to Pence's name.

So I guess I have to be the one to break the news that Pence's religion is listed on Wikipedia as "Evangelicalism" (sourced from U.S. News and World Report here). My guess is that if he's Trump's pick, his religious affiliations are the reason why.

I keep mentioning on here that I have a cousin who is a big deal in the Evangelical community. He and his cucked buddies are *still* going on about ways to un-do Trump's nomination. I mean they do this literally every day on Facebook, as if it was still April.

These guys are no small potatoes either, sad to say. Many of them hold posts at religious universities. Like my cousin, they have gigantic "flocks" of students who hang on their every word. Also like my cousin, some have also authored religious books -- the kind you and me might never see but sell big to this community.

So, their approval -- even grudgingly -- spells lots of votes. I guess Trump had to shore up this bloc of voters -- same as John McCain did when he picked Sarah Palin.

It's a shame the Republican Party has to cater to this wing. From what I gather by reading Red Pill Religious Blogs like Dalrock (which I would urge everyone to read), a culture has developed around this religion that's extremely Blue Pill and feminist. He even has a name for it: Churchianity.

Since this religion is very closely tied in with missionary work, their views on immigration tend to be both extremely liberal and naive. Not a good sign.

The appeal of this campaign has been its "eff you" hard-edge, which I think appeals to far more people than are willing admit to pollsters. I hope Pence doesn't soften this, because it'll ruin what was good to begin with.

To put it another way, not all metal albums need a ballad. Sometimes the situation calls for Motorhead.

Speaking of music, if the modern-day Evangelical community had to be summed up by one song, it would be this recent country hit. Dunno how many of you have heard the lyrics, but make sure there's a barf bucket handy:
