I thought Brook won pretty convincingly. His style is effective, athough I don't see him winning over many U.S. fans with that constant clinching. He should be able to beat Khan and any other European welterweight.
Brook doesn't normally fight like that (as in, holding a lot). Watch the two Carson Jones fights for example.
Ironically, a lot of boxers (Euro and U.S) will have seen the effectiveness of the clinch from American fighters like Ward & Hopkins. Not sure why you specified that he could beat "any other European welterweight", as Brook beats Thurman and Alexander too in my opinion. Marquez also, provided he gets off the PEDs!
He's by far the best European welterweight, but my point was that there are guys outside of Europe who could beat him. Mayweather could beat him and Maidana, Pacquiao, Marquez, Bradley, and Thurman could possibly beat him, although those fights could go either way. I agree with you that Brook beats Alexander.

Fighters like Mayweather and Khan would have dismantled him with their speed.
Yeah man, I don't know why he was such a favourite going into the Brook fight.
Khan's new 'Andre Ward-lite' style has improved his defence massively. He looked really good last time out against Collazo. Thing is, Brook hits hard and it's what happens when Khan gets hit that matters. Khan's chin isn't anywhere near as bad as people say though. He just chooses to go to toe-to-toe rather than play it safe.
Obviously Virgil Hunter will be coaching that out of him. Going to be a great fight either way, though not Wembley-size like some are saying.

I thought I read he was holding his training camp in Miami for his undeserved title shot, instead he is shooting his cousin
MAUMELLE, Ark. (AP) - According to Lt. Carl Minden, Jermain Taylor has been arrested for 1 count of battery 1st degree domestic battery and 1 count of aggravated assault after reportedly shooting his cousin.
Minden says the shooting was reported shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday at Taylor's home in Maumelle. Minden says Taylor's wife called 911 to report an intruder and that the person who was shot was found at a store several blocks from the home.
There is no bond so Taylor will be in court on Wednesday morning at the Pulaski County District Court.
Taylor was the professional middleweight boxing champion in 2005-06.

That's what Sam Soliman gets for ducking Golovkin. Golovkin was ready, willing, and able to fight Soliman for the IBF belt. Instead, Soliman chose to fight Taylor on ESPN2 for what I believe was substantially less money. Good luck getting a decent payday from ESPN now.

This Ray Rice video is disgraceful. http://www.tmz.com/lightbox/videos/0_ekaflcqq
For one thing, he doesn't shift his weight at all! And, he punches off his back foot. He might have put his wife down for the ten count but I'm telling you, if that were Kovalev in that elevator with him in AC, he'd be lucky to escape with a split decision.
After the fight, Al Haymon said Rice was looking to fight his wife's sister in another elevator in Atlantic City, but only if she took a drug test.

How did his legs look? I heard he moved more than the first first, and befuddled Maidana. I passed on this fight, on principle. I see almost all big fights, either on PPV or in person. But Floyd's charging $80 and for that kind of money, he needs to be fighting Pacquiao, a Cotto rematch, or even Golovkin. Floyd-Maidana II is worth about $50 on PPV. Not $80.
My guess is his next fight is against Khan. Then, in November 2015, he says he will have his last fight. Hope it is against someone who actually has a chance to beat him.

Sounds like Floyd still has his legs, which, combined with his other talents, means he's pretty much unbeatable unless he moves up to challenge GGG. A rejuvenated Cotto might also have a chance.
Which is why, neither of Floyd's last two fights will be against Cotto or GGG. He'll retire 49-0, just like Rocky Marciano. He will have faced better talent than Marciano, who never really fought anyone beyond an aged Jersey Joe Walcott and Ezzard Charles. Floyd has faced some good fighters...but skipped many more.

RE: Official Boxing Thread for Videos, History, Interviews, Analysis, etc.
Floyd fought the exact fight he needed to, and what was expected
I watch the fight with a my cousin who was a former welterweight contender in the 90's (He's fought guys like Roger Mayweather, Meldrick Taylor, Pernell Whitaker and Mickey Ward), and it's like having another set of eyes outside the ring.
Around the 5th round, he said 'Mayweather it's sucking air - he is tired'. One of the few times I've seen him looked exhausted in between rounds
Maidana put a lot of mental pressure on Floyd; people talk about the Cotto fight being very taxing on him but they forgot the Hatton fight in 07'
Hatton was able to keep that same type swarming attack through more than half the fight until he got caught, Zab Judah used an effective jab, but lost focus after Floyd made adjustments.
Everyone says the key weapon against Floyd is/was the jab, but no one can CONSISTENTLY hit him with it
No man has put together the complete package as of yet, but there were a few things I saw from Floyd that concerns me a bit as he considers fighting Manny in late 2015 (Khan is probably next).
Mental pressure is a bitch

I'm gonna say it, I think Khan can beat Mayweather.
The referee would not let Maidana fight on the inside, reminds me of the Hatton fight. Think Khan would be able to use that long reach of his and his speed, of course his chin is suspect but his power and speed isnt.
On another note, delighted for Scott Quigg, devastating body shots the other night and a unification fight against Frampton on the cards (Bantamweight division)

I don't think Khan will beat Mayweather, but I agree he has more of a shot than a lot of Floyd's recent opponents. He's the one guy who has hands as fast as Floyd's...AND he has power. Neither of them has a chin. This could be an interesting fight!

If he's going to get Cotto and Alvarez to fight on his undercard on cinco de mayo, then I think he'll need a bigger name than Khan. Pacquiao, being popular with the Mexican fans, would be perfect for it, and there's been talk from both sides recently about putting it together sometime. I can't think who else would fit the bill, Garcia maybe.
I imagine he'll fight Khan later in the year in the UK.
