What do you guys think about Jermall Charlo? The reason why I ask is that I have the chance to be in the sixth row of his fight against Austin Trout at the Cosmopolitan for a really cheap price. Some, but definitely not all, sportsbooks will be taking bets on that and I really have no idea how the odds will be. I think Trout is really underrated. He has two losses, Alvarez and Lara, both by decision and the Alvarez fight was really competitive. He also beat Cotto decisively. I say Charlo beats Trout fairly comfortably and if the odds are half decent, I will go.

This is a really good post. Alvarez actually seems to carry some guys who are much worse than him, see Matthew Hatton and Ryan Rhodes. Khan is better, maybe much better, than those two guys. One of the big problems Khan has is that he can't take a punch as well as many of Alvarez's previous opponents. That's why a fifth round knockout seems like a real possibility to me. All that being said, I won't be surprised if it goes ten rounds or even if it goes the distance. I would be surprised, frankly shocked, if it goes the distance and Khan gets a decision.

Tickets are available directly from the box office though http://www.axs.com. $1,500 plus fees for the best seats which the box office sells (not the best seats in the house) and $250.00 for the worst seats which are still available. The $150.00 nosebleed seats are all sold out. I really don't think it's worth it and will probably just pay like $80.00 to $100.00 to watch it at Hyde Bellagio or something. That $1,500 comes out of my winnings and still wouldn't get me in the first five rows or anything.

The $250.00 seats are now sold out, so the cheapest available are $400.00. The most expensive seats are all still available. I don't see it selling out until really close to fight night, if at all. Is anyone else going?

The Mandalay Bay Events Center and Diablo's Cantina at the Monte Carlo are both now selling tickets for the Alvarez/Khan viewing party. Around $75.00 including all taxes and fees. Diablo's is probably a decent place, but will be a complete zoo getting in and out of on fight night because Monte Carlo is right where the new arena is. I'd prefer to watch it at either Hyde Bellagio or the Mirage as they are both pretty close to my bank and there shouldn't be nearly as much congestion at that part of the strip.

Ward/Kovalev is really tough to pick a winner in. It will be a good deal all around with Ward starting out as a slight favorite. Ward, healthy and well trained, would beat Kovalev on Kovalev's best day pretty easily, in my opinion. As Ward presently is, I think Kovalev/Ward would be a toss-up, especially with Ward moving up in weight. No safe or smart bet in that one. Also, remember this, Ward has never lost anything since age twelve, or maybe even earlier than that.

I'm in Las Vegas now and the odds on both an Alvarez knockout and the fight not going eleven full rounds are excellent. Am I missing something here? After I make a trip to the bank in the morning, I may make the odds a little worse.

I was trying to talk myself into the fight, but something I saw on the most recent 24/7 convinced me Khan should get KTFO.

1. Canelo's trainer saw Khan getting KO'ed against García, and remarked that Khan's defense mostly consists of blocking punches, not necessarily dodging them. That is, his upper body movement is lacking, so he's not hard to find. And Canelo is relatively accurate.

2. Apparently Khan was getting touched up in sparring, and his trainer Virgil Hunter straight up told him 'if you get hit like the way you're getting touched today, you're getting knocked out.' Well then.

My plan is to put half on an Alvarez knockout and half on it not going eleven full rounds. This way, I'm partially protected if the fight ends in a technical decision or if hell freezes over and Khan stops him.

I was really worried about that one until Alvarez caught him. I thought Khan fought great at least for the first four rounds. No idea why they gave me almost even odds on an Alvarez knockout. Right before fight time, the odds on an Alvarez knockout were all the way up to -300 so I guess a lot of people did the same thing as I did, but placed their bets really late.

Yea I agree. He was fighting a really good fight and it looked as if he was going to win. He got caught with that overhand right. Looked like he was getting tired at the end of the 5th round.

This has been the most predictable fight in a long time. The same exact thing happened to Khan in the Danny García fight. He was pretty much schooling García until he got hit with a hook.



In this fight, Khan wasn't dominating Canelo, he was just barely winning the rounds. He was also falling for a lot of Canelo's feints, because Canelo was expertly switching it up from body to the head. The KO punch came from a 1-2 feint. Khan was protecting his body a lot throughout the fight too, which is a testament to Canelo's power because you know his first priority is to cover up that glass chin. It was just a matter of time before Canelo caught up to Khan and he made one of his defensive mistakes, which he always makes.

I have to give Canelo credit though. He did what he had to do. This convinces me even more that he didn't go all out against Cotto, for whatever reason. That punch that knocked out Khan was thrown with murderous intent, he did not go for the homerun like that against Cotto. His punch was also extremely fucking accurate, no luck involved here like others said about García. Just pure skill and power.

And finally, what fucking balls Canelo has. It's impossible not to like him. When Golovkin came up to the ring he said he called him up. "We don't fuck around. In boxing we fight for honor and glory. I'm not afraid of anyone in this sport. (Does this mean you'll fight Golovkin later this year?) I'll put the gloves on right now." That right there is a fucking warrior.

Boxing writers just like to create a lot of unnecessary drama for some reason. We're getting Golovkin/Alvarez, likely in September and very likely at AT& T Stadium or whatever's it's called. These same writers were the ones saying Mayweather would never fight Pacquiao or Alvarez.

^^ To writers' credit, I don't think it's usually fighters that avoid other fighters. The term 'marinate' comes purely from promoters interested in building up fights before tossing their cash cows to pasture. Like Juanma and Gamboa years ago... they both wanted to fight each other desperately, but Bob Arum decided to 'marinate' it and Salido fucked Juanma up. That's why ODLH was hesitant to confirm a fight with GGG before this Khan KO. It's a dangerous-ass fight for Canelo and could stop the gravy train.

I also don't think it's 'unnecessary' drama, since it obviously builds up promotion and translates to more $$ all around, I'd think.

But I think Canelo is ready to make it competitive with GGG. His chin is truly awesome, his defense is underrated, and he can crack. He'll do a lot better than Lemieux, I would think. Could be a seriously epic fight.

I think it will happen, just not this year. ODH and Alvarez have a lot of low-hanging fruit to pick first - Cotto rematch (easy), David Lemieux (fun fight but Canelo too skilled for him), possibly a Pacquiao fight (might be tougher for him than he thinks). I also wouldn't be surprised if a Mayweather rematch materialized. They'll say it's for the "lineal Middleweight championship"; no one cares about belts. 4 belts?!? When everyone is champion, no one is champion.

Canelo is a guy who can make $10M fighting a janitor. Meanwhile, GGG will knock out Danny Jacobs and a few other stiffs. By fall of 2017, they'll meet and it will be huge, after all the buildup and wait. Canelo will make GGG take 35% of the gate - and he'll be happy to get it!
