Quote:I’m turning 39, never been married, though I had hoped to find “the one” since age 14.
I’ve had a series of failed relationships where the man involved always ended up fooling around. I gave up on dating a year ago. Most men in my age bracket look at 20-somethings online. And every man has a constant source of hook-up temptation. Whether through a dating-site, Facebook, Tinder, etc. he has a pool of little pretties at his fingertips.
You eventually get dumped for one of these ladies.
You stick it out, hoping your suspicions are wrong, but as usual, you’re right.
Most men my age are divorced and use this as an excuse for commitment phobia. A “relationship” is viewed as seriously as marriage. And nobody wants to get married.
Most men I date say my intelligence intimidates them. Yet I don’t try to “one up” them, laugh at or talk down to them.
I’m an attractive woman and take care of my body. I’m also a “geek,” who’ll watch movies with them, play video games or engage in any nerdy behaviour.
But that quickly puts me in the friend zone.
Repeatedly, I’ve been dumped for unintelligent, manipulative, high-maintenance women. That sums up my entire dating life.
Most men seem to just want sex now and plenty of other women oblige.
I want to be happy alone. But I find myself crying every night. I’m starting to drink too much when I’m alone. I just cannot quench this desire to be with somebody.
Red Pill translation:
+ Lost virginity aged 14
+ n-count in the triple digits
+ by the looks of it she is living in the NYC and should be in her prime Sex and the City "age"
+ dated Alphas while she was at best a side-dish to them.
+ started looking for Mr. Right in earnest likely around age 33+
+ possibly good job and high IQ for a woman - does not impress men at all
+ you focus on high value man, while not being able to see that your prime was between 18-23
+ you still focus on the wrong men if you date guys aged 40 than can easily bed 20 year olds
Advice:
+ Lower your expectations - look for 50+ year olds who are in decent shape and don't mind having a woman past her expiry date
+ work more on your body, grow your hair out, dress sexy and feminine
Advice given:
Quote:Seeking Contentment Alone
Frankly, anyone looking for love since age 14 was bound to be disappointed.
Something was missing that far back and it couldn’t be found through just dating.
You needed to feel a lot better about yourself, to speak up long before you had proof of cheating and to learn to make better selections earlier when dating.
Now, after too many disappointments, you sound bitter and defeated. Contentment won’t come from just giving up. Nor from excess alcohol, which is a depressant.
Get proactive about your own happiness. You’re at a perfect turnaround age to get to the root of your “story” — who and what hurt you so long ago.
You need counselling that’s also aimed at boosting your sense of optimism.
Then you can become content when alone, or with good friends, but not despairing of love . . . not once you learn to recognize the decent men out there who are also looking for love.
Working on self-confidence and on trying to be content while being alone. Good luck with that - if she adheres to that she will be a full blown alcoholic by age 45 and a suicide candidate by age 50.
She won't recognize "decent" men as the guys she tries to beg are way beyond her level.
I’m glad Google yielded results. It’s nice to find people who don’t buy into that garbage. I knew her advice was terrible. It was worse than terrible. It was terrible advice for a question I didn’t ask. She heavily edited my letter. The honest intent when writing her was to please provide advice on how to be content alone. Rather than address my original question, she altered the content in such a way as to ask an entirely different question, and answered it poorly. “Love yourself first, and improve yourself, and you will find love.” Complete boilerplate bullshit.
I’ve consulted sources regarding celibacy, but it’s typically driven by some sort of pay off. “How to stay celibate until you are married” or “becoming celibate to become a priest.” I am unable to find sources on how to truly step away and be content as a single person with no love in her life, ever again – and to not feel horribly alone.
Anyway, thank you for your perspective, and thanks to the other folks here who wrote about it. I guess I’ll include a little here about me, in case you’re curious.
First off, no theory is perfect.

Virginity lost at 19. “N” count is low due to years spent in college focusing on studies. (I completed an MA.) – I was also in a relationship for ten years, so that kept me off the market as well. Oh, and I live in Mississippi.
I consider myself a “5” at best. It’s fair to say I was a 7 when I was younger. I am told that I underestimate my beauty. I’m certain people are just being polite.
Now thanks to “feminism” all these dipshit excuses for women spread their legs on a first date, and they don’t EVEN need to be white girl drunk to do it. They’re ALL doing it – The Kim Kardashian wanna’ be’s who spam the Internet with bug-eye, duck-lip selfies, on down to the dumpy gamer girls with piercings and tats and bad dye jobs who whine about how society judges them for their size. You guys have shared plenty of stellar examples here. I guess there is one common denominator – DENIAL fueled by stupidity. But if you’re looking for a pump and dump, a brain is optional. All of that is to say, why SHOULD a guy commit? Why SHOULD a guy waste his time on a girl like me who wants to bond intellectually and emotionally? That’s boring and you open yourself up to being hurt. Just hit OKCupid or Tinder or whatever and find some dimwitted girl who will be your whore for buying her dinner. It’s a win/win for her, because after you dump her, she can go cry on the Internet about it and drink in the delicious attention all of her “friends” give her.
Dating is dead. It’s all “hang out and hook up” or “Netflix and chill.” I’ve tried dating men in their fifties, and you would think they would be a bit more old fashioned like I am, but nope – The demise of traditional dating and the heavy stigma attached to relationship status has worked its way up to the older men as well. I’m sure I am overlooking some potential candidates, but I choose to accept that I simply have poor judgment.
So, there you have it! I’m a tried and true beta who is fed up and done, because everything has become a game. No hard feelings and no real bitterness here. I just want to be content alone, if it’s even possible. Hopefully I’ll find out it is.
