Maine Gov: Trump gets 3/4 electoral votes in ME

LePage said Trump’s surge of support has the same feel as his own 2014 reelection campaign.

“I am feeling it not only here in Maine, but when I travel around the country, the Silent Majority is going to speak loudly, he said.

LOZ is right that Trump needs to not fuck up and say stupid shit. He needs to stay more disciplined and I agree about the teleprompter. Why screw with something that has helped you make gains? The little comment he made today about Hillary's security not having guns, while not a huge deal, is the type of thing that he really should just not do. It's pointless and does him no good whatsoever. I do think that Trump is in very good position though at this point. Even the most biased polls are trending up and he is leading or looking pretty good in key swing states and counties. He just needs to check his ego, not fuck with a good thing, and continue to look more restrained and presidential. There is no reason to mess with a good thing, and if he falls into the trap of going back to the more wild Trump, then things could start to not look as good for him. But at least he hasn't done that yet really (outside of his little comment today), and there is other evidence that he is still making an effort to stay disciplined and do things to win. He didn't fall into the trap of going hard on Hillary's health (letting others do that for him), and also sucked up his pride today and said Obama was born in the USA. That's not a small deal and required giving up some ego points. Hopefully this little gun comment serves as a good (and basically harmless) wake up call and Bannon and Conway give him a lecture on the teleprompter usage. He can't start to get wild right when it's time to play "not screw up" game. It would be better at this point to err towards more boring and steady. He has a rally tomorrow in Colorado, so that might be a good indicator to see if he can stay on point.

As always, I am glad that LOZ brings different focus to these threads and he always has logical reasoning for the points he makes.

Frame is important. Believing that you not only can win, but have the confidence that you are going to win, is powerful. This is why the media goes to such lengths to convince Trump supporters that they are small in numbers, that they're losing, that they have no chance.

Far from a mistake, there are a few massive advantages to Trump supporters adopting a winner's mindset right now.

The biggest one is that they are many, many closet or fence Trump supporters out there who are still afraid to voice their support. The more clear it is that Trump not only has a serious chance to win but is actually winning, the more of these people join the fight. The more join the fight, the more momentum we build.

In fact, I've long felt that Trump will pick up a couple of major endorsements as we enter the home stretch. And we're even seeing many liberals start to waver.

To illustrate my second point, let's look to game.

If you're approaching a girl, what is the better frame to hold: the one where you are trying to make her like you, or the one where she already likes you and just doesn't know it yet?

If you're on a date with a girl, what is the better frame to hold: that you need to try as hard as you can to get the bang, or that the bang is already yours for the taking?

Clearly it's the second choice in both scenarios. And clearly adopting those frames does not mean you simply whip out your dick or even just sit their silently.

You're still gaming the girl, you're just doing it from a place of strength and confidence, rather than one of weakness and supplication.

We see this from Trump's own campaign. He is still bringing it as hard as ever, but he's doing it in a more calm, calculated way. He no longer has to yell, destroy his opponents ruthlessly, or court media attention without incendiary statements.

This is the same mindset that Trump supporters should now have.

We're no longer the underdog boxer who's losing on the scorecards in the 8th round and is desperately searching for a knockout.

We're winning on the scorecards, our opponent is bleeding everywhere, and they're throwing wild, flailing punches.

Now is the time to search with your jab until you get that perfect opening for your hook. Duck your opponents hook, deflect their jab, until... boom, you land the devastating counter punch.

Of course Trump and his campaign can't afford to run out the clock. But we also don't need a 60-yard Hail Mary.

8-yard run. 13-yard hook. 10-yard screen. Work your way down the field methodically, putting the defense on their heels.

And if you get the opportunity, play action and hit that post route as it comes open down the middle. Break the game wide open.

The third and final reason why the calm, confident mindset of a winner is so brutal right now plays off the left's own behavior.

They are incredibly hysterical right now. And what pisses off an angry person more than anything? Not reacting. Staying composed and unaffected in the face of their insane behavior.

Even better, point out their belligerence. Make fun of it.

There's a reason "u mad?" is such an old and long-lasting meme on the internet. Nothing makes a person angrier than calmly bringing attention to their anger.

Especially when you're dealing with emotionally fragile liberals.

They're in a tailspin right now. Point and laugh. It only accelerates their plummet towards Earth.

As for polls, no offense to anyone here, but I've begun to regard this obsession over numbers that go up and down every week as some form of neuroses.

I've talked about this previously, but let me given another analogy to illustrate exactly what I'm talking about.

You look in your bank account today and see that you have $1,000. How much will you have in 2 months?

Who knows, right? In two months, you could have $5,000 or you could have -$36.

You could check your balance every hour of every day over that period, and even at 59 days, it still wouldn't tell you how much you'd have on day 60. You could go out on the very last night and blow every penny on hookers and blow.

That "total balance" number is nothing more than an abstraction, a simple representation of hundreds of smaller transactions. That's why no financial adviser is going to tell you to stare at that number obsessively as a way to improve your finances.

The much better, more rational way to predict your future balance would be to instead look at those smaller transactions.

Find the trends. How much do you earn each month? How much do you spend? Are there opportunities to increase your monthly income? Are there ways you could lower your monthly expenses?

At this point, Hillary is bringing in very small amounts of money, while bleeding it out the other end.

Trump, on the other hand, has tremendous earning potential. At times, he has the tendency to get too loose with his cash, but as long he keeps an eye on his spending, he can afford to splurge every now and then.

Hillary also has some major expenses coming up, including healthcare (health) and court costs (corruption, leaks).

Trump, on the other hand, has very little foreseeable expenses coming up. He's been paying his debts off little by little over the past year. As Assange put it, there's very little that they could tell us that we don't already know.

When someone like myself says Trump is "winning", I'm not talking about whatever his current balance may be. I'm referring to all of those smaller transactions and trends. I'm not ignoring them -- on the contrary, I'm accounting for them all.

I'm very much aware of the likelihood of an occasional Trump splurge, but I'm betting that his earning potential and Hillary's plummeting balance will more than make up for it. My predictions are not based on Trump being perfect, they're based on him being better.

Let's say I show you two bank account balances, each with $1,000.

Person A has great earning trends, with mediocre spending habits.

Person B has poor earning trends, with poor spending habits.

In two months, who do you think will have more money in their account? Sure, person B could get a $5,000 gift from Saudi Arabia at some point, but based on the information I have, I'd put my money on person A.

That is NOT what LOZ said at all. He said stick to the script that has been working AFTER Manafort.

While I completely disagree with Lizard of Oz assessment over Trump's odds, because he seems to think quantity matters over quality of polling data, I do agree that we cannot get complacent and assume it's in the bag. Pride indeed comes before the fall.

It's good to have someone on the bearish side, but please keep in mind everyone called Samseau the prophet of doom and gloom up until Trump ran. So it's not like I'm prone to irrationally optimistic evaluations. The LA Times/Dornsife poll uses an amazing RAND method which should yield the most statistically reliable results. It's just math and there's no reason to doubt it, unless someone at the polling center is making a terrible math error somewhere. But we know Dornsife was the most accurate last election, so there's little to fear that these guys will suddenly err.

Trump is winning right now but he can still fuck this up. He should run FAG game 100% of the time, and I'm sure Kellyanne Conway will manage that. Trump will not be able to resist dropping controversial and clever comments at rallies, however, because he loves to please his fans. He has to give them a good show. I don't mind at all but I can see how many women are turned off; but I think women haters are starting to understand how Trump operates and will warm up to him by election day.

Either way, it doesn't matter, because Trump's real advantage is the supermajority of men he has, which also includes MANY Democrats and low-turnout voters. Trump is going to get much higher turnout than average this election, I expect to see somewhere close to 60% voter turnout nationwide just because of surplus men.

That said, I am not acting like this victory is assured. I believe I will be getting a job with the Trump campaign in NH very soon to do some door to door and eventually call-operations. 20 hours a week, it's not a ton of time but still fairly large investment of my time because of commuting. Regardless I have done some door-to-door with my Trump T-shirt on and I felt like the neighborhood hero. Strangers waving and smiling, men overwhelmingly praising me (including a lifelong Democrat switching to Republican down-the-ticket), and plenty of women who said they were voting Trump.

If most of NH is like that, then it's going red and from what I've heard Maine is also very pro-Trump. I think Trump can trust on acquiring some juicy NE electoral votes this year.

Therefore I believe Trump will close this, he understands he's on the green right now and won't do anything too extreme or careless. Meanwhile Hillary is dying and will have more medical episodes before election day. It will become painful to watch. But we should not act like nothing else can go wrong, and we cannot take victory for granted. God loves the humble and hates the arrogant, if we take His good fortune as a given without repaying any debts we can just as quickly lose His favor.

We are, after all, running against voter fraud. NC recently had it's voter ID law revoked this year adding it to PA as highly tempting targets for Democrats to rig the elections. Philadelphia, in particular, has been controlled by Dems for very long and is probably going to have a squad of staffers going around the inner-city ballot booths pretending to be people they aren't to make sure voter turnout is 100% or more. Likewise, NC could also be defrauded with similar means.

If we catch the voter fraud with proof, we can fight them. But it is impossible to catch it all, and it is rampant in places like Boston and NYC. While most elections aren't serious enough for anyone to rig this way, the stakes are so high this election I expect the Dems to do it. Thus we will need to beat the fraud with actual genuine voters. It sucks but there's really no way other way to fight this. No one said the enemy fights fair.

Then, even if we win, Trump will still need to deal with a hostile Congress. He will need a big mandate from the people if he wants to smash the Corporate oligarchy selling us down the river. So we cannot merely win we need to win bigly.

Anyone who reads this message should find a way to contribute to Trump's campaign, it's highly unlikely we'll ever get another chance like this in our lifetimes before total war breaks out. It's a lot easier to win an election than it is to win a war. I'm doing my part so I hope you'll all do yours.

Trump has been reading off teleprompters the past month- and it is exactly why his message is connecting better and why the campaign now has a fighting chance.

He has many weaknesses, and we have just seen how easily they come to the surface when he gets excited. His biggest weakness is precisely the opposite of how you phrased it- it is when he thinks he has no weakness, when he's fat and happy as was said, that he begins to make mistakes. The reason for the gains has been the campaign carefully planning and giving him structure and keeping things on message. A month ago he had virtually no chance of winning at that time, and today he has at least some chance, things are going in the right direction, but it's very fragile as Lizard said.

Sticking to the teleprompter, having a calm clear message, heavily backing off the needless twitter battles etc. - These are all things that he has done in the past month, and the reason for the climb in polls, which began before the Hag collapsed.

"Changing a winning team" in this case would mean going back to ad lib speeches, twitter arguments, yelling tone at rallies, and needlessly giving ammo to the media. It is only now today since he went off message that they have something to attack, whereas the past month they have had very little to manipulate because Trump strictly stuck to the message- and it worked wonders, making winning a real possibility finally. Remember too, it was since the Kellyanne and Bannon hires that Trump expressed regret for some things- that was their doing, and it played well.

You are correct that we should not change a winning team, and that means staying with the Trump of the past 4 weeks, not the one of today's rally, or the one prior to the Kellyanne/Bannon hire.

I'm working for the Trump campaign going door to door and making phone calls, it's an extremely rewarding job. If you have the time I highly recommend you give it a chance.

I think that everyone needs to calm down about Trump not fucking up. This notion of wanting him to become a robotic politician to run out the clock is nonsense. It's exactly because he's not some bs politician spewing canned lines and being cautious that he's ascending and has so much enthusiasm behind him. Message discipline and not saying really outlandish things is fine but unfortunately even seemingly benign things that he says get magnified by the media into the shitstorm of the day. Take this whole thing today with the birther stuff. This all started just because Trump made some off the cuff remark to a Wash Post reporter when he was asked about if Obama's was born in the US, saying that he'd get back to the reporter on it. It becomes a massive shit show with the reporters today and at the end of the day, the reporters got blasted all over their faces when they were expecting to take Trump down, with their subsequent meltdown.

If Trump goes into don't fuck up game or tries to go into the prevent defense, he'll lose. Message focus and discipline is necessary I agree, but becoming completely neutered, turning him into Marco Rubio is fucking stupid. Those who want him to be careful and cautious would have advised him against going to Mexico, against going to African American churches to make a serious push for black votes, against putting out a proposal for working women with children, against going on Dr, Oz and so on. Yeah Trump is going to say stuff off the cuff but by now, it's who he is but the media has so blown their load that not too many people are going to take anything they say seriously anymore. The way to win is to continue to be unconventional and unpredictable. Hillary and the Democrats are losing their minds right now exactly because Trump isn't running like predictably and passively like Yeb or Marco or Kasuck. Today's events have solidified the fact that the left is in panic mode. All because of Trump's aggressiveness. So yeah, it ain't close to being over yet which is why Trump can't go into don't fuck up, prevent defense game. I want him to destroy her not just eke out a close win.
