He's been awfully fragile lately, almost like he's turning to dust before our eyes. If he really has gotten as old as his last two fights suggest, Cotto could take him. But if he beats Cotto, he's in the catbird seat - he could make $$$$ fighting Golovkin, Alvarez, even Floyd might take a chance at his middleweight crown, if a catch-weight is agreed. Martinez's next fight will earn him $10M --- IF he gets past Cotto!

I agree that Martinez didn't look all that great in his last fight. Although some people believe otherwise, I think he looked good in the Chavez fight. He was also fighting with a broken dominant hand from about the forth round on. I made some serious money on that fight. I've been debt-free since. Even if Martinez is rusty, injured, or has an off night, I think he beats Cotto. The fight could, however, be pretty close if one or more of those factors is present. If the Martinez/Mayweather fight could be made, there is no way that Mayweather will go up to middleweight. Martinez has stated that he can go as low as 150 pounds. He is a natural junior middleweight who went up to middleweight, I believe for the Pavlik fight. (A healthy, well-trained Pavlik could have beaten Martinez. No doubt in my mind). If Martinez/Mayweather ever happens, the highest weight it would probably be would be 154.

I doubt they'll ever fight. I'm not so sure Martinez can get much below 157 anymore...as you get older, and with his bum knee, its tough to run off the pounds anymore.

I think Martinez's swan song will be against Golovkin. If Martinez was in his prime, say 5 yrs ago, it would be a pick'em fight. Today, I think Golovkin gets him inside 9 rounds. I like Sergio and you know, if he gets an 8-figure payday and is smart and calls it quits right after, I don't think that's a bad outcome for him. He was a classy fighter his whole career and got shafted b/c he didn't have one of the "big 2" promoters. It's nice to finally see him getting some big paydays. If he falls to a much younger guy and sets himself up financially for life, I'll think he did well for himself.

Vera vs Chavez Jr. last fight was a bad decision supposedly. Wonder who will win. Should be a good fight.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

That Vera takes some punch. I was impressed with Junior tonight. He doesn't have much lateral movement, but he sure is tough. Would pay to see him in with GGG or Andre Ward. Won't pay to see Mayweather vs. Maidana (mismatch) or Canelo vs. Angulo (WTF?? This is PPV fight??).

Golovkin vs. Chavez at 168 is very likely at some time in 2014. I'm thinking Golovkin will be about a -500 favorite, but who knows. Chavez may have made the odds closer with his performance tonight.

Alvarez and Angulo should be a good fight as long as Alvarez doesn't run from Angulo's power all night. Definitely shouldn't be pay per view though. Should have been Lara really, but I guess golden boy don't want Alvarez getting embarassed again.

Regarding last nights fights, I was surprised Lomachenko lost. Still a lot of potential though but needs work.

Terrence Crawford did what I expected. I really think he has massive potential. Hopefully Arum will start giving him some fights now. Maybe Gamboa, or if they are bringing Mikey Garcia up (they don't want Mikey Garcia in risky fights before he gets the Pacquiao fight though I imagine).

Why/when did Walter White get banned? I thought that guy had a lot of potential.

Edit: I now see he had a bit of a meltdown when discussing the Roosh jailing topic. That's too bad.

The weight limit for the Alvarez-Angullo fight was increased to 155. Canelo could not make 154 (did make 155)...but cannot be over 168 by Saturday morning.

I want to see GGG and Kovalev just tear through their divisions.

Froch vs Groves again at Wembley, gonna be a huge crowd, 60,000 + at least

Eastern Bloc power! Haha. Think GGG is fighting Chavez Jr...he'll take him apart if he carries his power up to 168.

I like Golovkin for that one too. But Chavez Jr is likely to outweigh him significantly, and so could definitely hurt Golovkin if he lands something.

I would like to see GGG vs Chavez Jr. also BUT I hate that GGG is basically being forced out of 160 to get is big fight. So Cotto, who has a grand total of ZERO fights at 160 gets Martinez (for the linear championship) but GGG does not.

Cant Forget about Mexican legend Julio Cesar Chavez. Hes top 10 in my book. From Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico dude was a brawler and defined the sport of boxing in his time. His record 107-6-2 with 86 KO's. He's the reason why I got into boxing since my dad idolized him and virtually everyone in Mexico.

Another one of the all time greats is Oscar de la Hoya. Dude was a beast. I remember when Mexicans hated him for beating Julio Cesar Chavez and for being Mexican-American and not a "true" Mexican but he ended up winning the hearts of the Mexican people. A very beloved icon.
Hes 39-6-0 with 30 KO's and a Gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics.

Another honorable mention is Juan Manuel Marquez. A very underrated boxer his whole life who lived under the shadow of De La Hoya and El Terrible. Was a counter specialist and beloved by the Mexican people. The only boxer that gave Pacquiao the fights of his life. Hes 55-7-1 with 40 KO's.

Nasty. Martinez calls Cotto a diva haha. Cotto is the bigger name and draw plus they are fighting in New York. Martinez has a valid point that Cotto isnt an "A" fighter but even though Martinez is a linear champ, he hasnt fought near the quality of fighters Cotto has. It's going to be an interesting fight. Havent heard from Meng and G is out of pocket but I wonder what their take is on it.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

Cotto is the bigger draw, if for no other reason than there are LOTS of Puerto Ricans in New York; not so many Argentinians. Also, he's been a top fighter longer - Martinez was a late bloomer. Still my guess is that the one year rest did Martinez's aging body good, and as long as his knee holds up, he'll win this fight handily. What comes next is anybody's guess. Mayweather won't fight him. Canelo might. Golovkin surely would, but Martinez may be crazy to take that fight.

Was reading about the Double Punch and found another example beyond what we saw with Pacquiao.

Did anyone watch Froch vs Groves?

I saw it, and thought it was pretty good but it felt a little anticlimactic. Just as it was heating up and starting to open up, Froch knocked out Groves with a lucky punch. I wish it had gone on for a few more rounds.

Terrence Crawford and Gamboa is the fight I'm most looking forward to. I expect big things from Crawford in the future, but not sure how this one will go for him.

I didn't expect Arum to put him in with someone of Gamboas level so quickly, but I imagine he is thinking of matching Mikey Garcia with the winner (I'd like Gamboa or Crawford in that one), and then the winner of that with Pacquiao (which would be interesting), so he needs to move quickly before Pacquiao retires.
