Yeah power rangers looks terrible. It doesn't make sense that they're super strong. Also, the trailers give away way too much in my opinion.

Some friends and I came up with this wild theory that Hollywood is now pushing a mentall illness/disability are better than normal people narrative. It was a funny movie and I guess people with debilitating mental illness can always hope to be serial killing money launders now.

You are worried about spoilers in a Power Rangers movie?

I always enjoy Heat for the simple reason that it is one of the rare movies that truly sucks me in with the atmosphere that it generates.

The shootout scene in Heat will never be topped.

RE: The Movie Thread
Just got back from seeing a pair of movies. I well-trained in the art of theater-hopping, so I viewed two films for the price of one matinee ticket. The movies in question:

Get Out:

Rating: 10/10

Review: After the first viewing of the trailer, I cringed at a seemingly race-baiting horror flick. Though I couldn't help but be fascinated by the fact that Jordan Peele of all people was at the helm of it. I went in expecting to be badgered with liberal, left-wing propaganda and overblown "micro-aggressions", but found that there is no preachy commentary in this movie. Rather than paint the white people as "1488ers", Peele depicts them as overtly liberal. To the point where the father makes it a point to mention: "I would've voted for Obama to get a third term." Without spoiling shit, I'll say that the mystery behind everything is definitely the opposite of what you go in expecting. It's a breath of fresh air, amongst the asinine horror films about ghosts and supernatural shit.

The protagonist, Chris, is one of the most likable horror-thriller characters that I've seen in this genre. He makes logical decisions for one; ones that you could envision yourself making if you were placed in his Jordans. Even better is his best friend, Rod, who ends up being the best character by the end. He's given great lines to bring levity, but is only a portion of the great comedy in this movie. No surprise coming from a comedy writer, but it's much funnier than most films.

I THOROUGHLY recommend you see this movie, especially in theaters. The stellar cinematography, acting and tone should be seen on the silver screen; no doubt. I'm normally one for a crowd that keeps their traps shut, but there are too many moments in this film that warrant applause. No Social Justice bullshit..I promise..go see this shit.

A Cure for Wellness:

Rating: 8/10

Review: I got more enjoyment out of "Get Out", but this movie captured my intrigue much more. The cinematography is master class, the editing is flawless and the acting is great as well. It's a clever film, almost hinging on being a mystery, despite most of its twists being wholly predictable. The most unpredictable part of the movie however, is the ending. Not sure what (((Gore Verbinski))) was thinking, but someone clearly said "Fuck it.." and filmed this strange finale. The finale which I'm certain had a hand in ruining this movie for a shit ton of people.

Despite the shit finale, I love this movie. This film is right up my alley; I love dark, gothic horrors/psychological thrillers; nothing short of that here. It's a long film, coming in at just under two and a half hours, and in my opinion, it could've been longer. If for any reason, to go into more depth about the history of the hospital. That..or just to cram in some more dope ass shots; this movie is full of them.

Would recommend seeing it in the theater, but make sure it's Matinee. Partly because of the ending..but more so because you'll be inclined to see it again.

RE: The Movie Thread
Yeah, this shit is getting ridiculous.

I try to watch serial shows on Netflix with my wife and it's become tragically fucking predictable that half way into the season two same sex characters are going to kiss for apparently no plot driven reason whatsoever.

The most recent example was in the new series Van Hellsing where the main character gets smoochy with her childhood friend in a manner that seemed to carry no weight of consequence whatsoever. As if bitches swapping spit had all the gravitas of braiding each other's hair.

For us both it's an instant "nope". We're up to four series now that are forever stalled at "ten seconds after the crudely implemented gay propaganda scene".

For reals though?
Fuck.

edit; Actually fuck it, I wasn't going to watch this "Alien" movie in the theaters anyways, it's not a real Aliens movie, just a sequel to that Prometheus horseshit.

edit; LOL:
New Alien movie features gay couple repopulating planet
Quote:If you're a fan of the Alien movies, which of the following do you recognize as being in the contemporary standard formula of Alien films?

A) A woman in her underwear running to or from aliens.

B) A large crew, warned of hostile aliens, breaks down into small numbers and goes to dark, isolated places to see what happens next.

C) A humanoid robot who spurts out whole milk when injured.

D) Two gay guys kissing and fondling each other.

E) All of the above.

If you answered "E," you are correct! The new Aliens: Covenant film features a ship of colonists going to populate a new planet. That's why most of the crew are man-woman pairs. But one pair in particular are two gay guys, and in case you missed it, the trailer for the movie shows the two kissing and fondling each other while the rest of the crew watches approvingly.

Now, you may be wondering, how could a gay couple populate or repopulate a planet? If everyone was picked in a pair for their ability to have kids, what are the gay people doing there?

You have to remember: this is the future! There are a number of possibilities:

1) Perhaps cloning has been perfected, so the gay couple can clone themselves and make gay children just like themselves.

2) Perhaps one of the gay men will "take one for the team" and transgender into a woman, allowing the other gay man to impregnate him. Then, once he gives birth, he can switch back to being a man again.

3) Perhaps if one of the heterosexual men finds himself sterile, one of the gay men will volunteer to be an emergency "pinch hitter."

4) Perhaps the gay couple will use technology to create a robot baby, then a year later replace it with a one-year-old robot baby, then a year later replace that with a two-year-old robot child, and so on.

Questions for discussion:

1) Could an employer discriminate against gays if the only hiring criteria were the ability to reproduce?

2) If an alien impregnates a gay person and absorbs some of his DNA, will the alien that emerges also be gay? Or will it be a choice?

3) Do you think the LGBTQ community sees it as progress to have a film showing gay people having aliens burst out of their chests?

4) How desperate do film producers have to be to insert the gay agenda into a film about colonists who are supposed to be having children to populate a planet?

RE: The Movie Thread
Hollywood has actually launched an all out attack the last couple of years, they're doing a Gamergate but in Sci-Fi, since Sci-Fi is traditionally a male dominated niche.

Arrival - feminist bs melodrama drivel and you go girlism

Passengers - bait and switch rom-com with female on male violence and feminist agenda

Star Wars - anti-white, feminism, you go girlism

They're also doing in it horror movies adding more all female casts and turning it into psychological neurosis of females masqerading as horror.

If you go to the reviews on IMDB these films get slammed in the comments but have very high ratings. If you went to the forums, these films got slammed. Then they removed the forums.

Have you noticed? Hollywood has gone full steam ahead on SJW agenda. This with Alien Covenant is the last straw that broke the camel's back. They now have literally ruined the two major sci-fi franchises existing. Next Star Trek will probably be the same.

As I say, fuck Hollywood, it is not worth watching.

I watched Manchester-by-the-Sea this past weekend. It wasn't too bad. I didn't see any overt political nonsense in it. I'm not sure if I would conclude, however, that the film succeeds as "entertainment." It's fairly downbeat and has an ambiguous ending.

Redboxed this one over the weekend. Loved the depiction of bumfuck west Texas, but the shallowness of both brothers had me hoping early in the movie that one of those concealed carry cowboys would double tap them both during a job. My expectations were admittedly high though, since I'd heard this movie compared to No Country for Old Men. But Jeff Daniels, if Oscars were worth a shit, would have won best supporting actor for his role. His character reminded me of some of the old timers, now dead, I used to know here out west.

Just re-watched the 1981 Best Picture Oscar winner, Chariots of Fire. If I ever had to declare one movie my all-time favourite, this would be it. My parents took me to see it on my birthday.

A tale of two men putting the women in their lives aside to chase higher ideals. Was 1981 really so long ago?

Michelle Rodriguez in the role she was born to play.

Sigourney Weaver & Tony Shalhoub are quite involved also. Shame.

Not doing well on Rotten Tomatoes.

Could be this, from Wikipedia...

But look, I understand the concern. Is it lurid? Yes. Is it lowbrow? Well, maybe. Is it offensive? No. I'm just trying to honor the B movies that we grew up with."[2]
