Watched this cinematic masterpiece last night.



This is a big dumb movie but it's all about a man and his son, and actually has some pretty good themes in it. What's really interesting is that it's the son who's a dick and the dad is actually right all along. It would be simple mindless fun if not for these themes, which probably didn't seem to strange in the late 80s but are a pretty stark contrast with how men/fathers are portrayed in media today.No way something like this would ever be made in 2016.

Just watched Mel Gibson's new movie Blood Father:






It was pretty good. Imagine Sicario repurposed as a father/daughter bonding flick and you have an idea what it's like.

If you like dusty deserts and being on the lam and and washed out old bikers from El Centro who think they are wise as Yoda, you might like this one.

What else? Trailer parks in Indio California, ex cons trying to dry out, and looking for redemption and a little more action than a twelve step program.



And finally, if you like hot young messes who look like Erin Moriarty:



We are talking about the kind of girls who get themselves and everyone else into trouble just by following their urges and thinking they are tougher and smarter than they are, this could be your kind of movie.

I liked the whole thing even though there were a few scary moments at the end where it looked like the Goddess of girlpower was going to be worshipped, but that bullet was dodged.

Just like the chick in Sicario, this girl got more truth than she was ready for, and she actually learned something.

Also, Mel looked raggedy as fuck, and it worked for him.

I searched the forum and didn't see that anyone had mentioned the movie Everybody Wants Some!!. This is a fantastic movie. I was smiling the entire time I was watching it. It's a celebration of masculinity and game. I was surprised when the credits started rolling to see that it was a Richard Linklater film. His other movies made me think he had the "be yourself" approach to game, but this movie shows guys unapologetically using some solid game techniques.

Yeah, I went to college in the early eighties like Linklater, and he nailed the environment perfectly, particularly the ecumenical nature of the music and the parties. Different groups mixed more. You listened to all sorts of music.

We were way less sophisticated than college students today, almost like children in comparison really, though it does hit my old nostalgia bone.

The movies I watch annually are Heat and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Rarely watch movies twice, and yet I've seen these at least five times each. These are the kind of movies where the sum is greater than its parts... It's obvious that each production team (sound, acting, photography, choreography etc) gave their all and were energized just by making the movie. Thrilling to see the vibrancy of the creative process shine through; for example, the sounds of the big shoot-out in Heat were captured raw in order to portray the sense of chaos, while the costume designers of LOTR engraved each armor on the inside as well as outside, according to Tolkien's lore. That's dedication.

Heat is a sublime movie. The cinematography, music, acting/casting and sound production is excellent. De Niro is stone cold, and even though he's a criminal you find yourself rooting for him, while Pacino is his usual intense self. Their two scenes together is electrifying.

LOTR will always have a special place in my heart. Grew up with the books and movies. You always notice something new when watching them for the umpteenth time. Despite its influence on the genre, most fantasy movies/franchises don't even come close to capturing the melancholic sense and beauty of an old world fading the way LOTR does. The introduction of Rivendell and the Gray Havens sequence makes the heart ache with their beauty.

quick edit: I watched it on a streaming site before I posted this and after I watched that other shit, it's pretty damn funny, also, the villain is a fucking douche. Watch it, though you might need to be high or drunk to truly appreciate it.

I don't care for Sausage Party, since it is a Seth "Cuck" Rogen movie. Another example of liberal cannibalism with all of the outrage. Salma Hayek is a useful idiot whore of a French Billionaire.

With regard to "Sully" I am expecting great things only because it is a Clint Eastwood film, and he almost always delivers.

I went to see Sausage Party. Completely outrageous and over the top in every way. Yeah, there are beta moments there. Ignore those. There's a lot more going for it.
I even got a military discount.

Watched this just now... Good movie but I think it would have been a lot better if they had stuck with the originally intended ending. It could have really been one of those movies that makes you think and brings up debates on who was really right and who was really wrong.....




Original ending:
In the original script, Michelle escapes the shelter and is chased through the farmhouse by Howard, who still wants to “protect” her. She blinds him with bathroom cleaner, he tells her about his tragic life (dead wife, missing daughter, treacherous Nate, etc.), and then she shoots him in the kneecap and runs away. He ends the movie alive, entreating Michelle to “be careful.” Later, after traveling down empty roads and finding no one around to help her, she crests a hill and sees the Chicago skyline, smoldering and destroyed. No explanation is given. We don’t even know what she will do next, only that she now knows that Howard, for all his oddity, was correct. The final line in the script is, “She slowly pulls down the mask on the hazmat suit before taking a breath.”

I want to plug my friends latest film.

These guys have been doing good on the scene in the past couple years, and I feel like they are going to get even more exposure coming soon.

The director and the lead are friends of mine, where I have a long history of family with the director.

I would love to see them kill it in this industry.

The film itself is unique. A man who feels empathy for the first time in his life. Almost reverse Red Pill.

I re-watched my childhood favorite The Towerign Inferno. Yeah, cheesy 70s disaster movie, but above par quality for the genre and decent action. But more to the point of this forum, instead of focusing on a gallery of silly bit characters, this one fosuses on two alpha badasses, played by Steve McQueen and Paul Newman, doing their thing and upping the ante when the going gets tough. That alone makes it worth watching. I was feeling my testosterone levels rising while I was watching it.

Looks like a movie right up my alley. Interesting plot, I love movies where the story centers around the transformation of a character.

Do you have any idea when/if it will be released worldwide? Particularly in Europe.
