Though I couldn't help but be fascinated by the fact that Jordan Peele of all people was at the helm of it. I went in expecting to be badgered with liberal, left-wing propaganda and overblown "micro-aggressions", but found that there is no preachy commentary in this movie. Rather than paint the white people as "1488ers", Peele depicts them as overtly liberal. To the point where the father makes it a point to mention: "I would've voted for Obama to get a third term." Without spoiling shit, I'll say that the mystery behind everything is definitely the opposite of what you go in expecting. It's a breath of fresh air, amongst the asinine horror films about ghosts and supernatural shit.

Get Out is best movie I've seen in the last year easily. Hopefully, Hollywood notices that movies can do really well without shoving race baiting down our throats. If anything, the movie makes fun of virtue signaling. Political aspects aside, the movie relies more on suspense than the usual jump scare BS.

I always enjoy Heat for the simple reason that it is one of the rare movies that truly sucks me in with the atmosphere that it generates.

The shootout scene in Heat will never be topped.

I had the opportunity to speak with a noted film editor at a festival a couple years ago. He said Michael Mann was ultra meticulous about the "gun play" in his films It's apparent that Heat was his reaching a level of mastery of gun action that evolved over a long period of time.

Watch these Michael Mann directed works and notice the similarity in the way the lead characters handle a handgun. (Apparently Mann has used the same ex IDF guy as technical consultant for over 30 years)

THIEF (1981)...great fucking movie by the way

RE: The Movie Thread
I just watched Moonlight. As you've probably heard, it's basically a black Brokeback Mountain. It could easily be argued that the film took best picture because the Academy was trying to make up for the criticism they received last year over supposedly not sufficiently recognizing black actors and other industry players.

Nevertheless, the film actually is fairly engrossing to watch. The mood is pitch perfect with good acting and dialogue. There isn't any overt social justice nonsense, apart from the main character being gay.

Here's the thing that confuses me...it's the inconsistency of the liberal social justice types and media over movies like this. They like the movie because it features almost all black actors and crew and the main character is homosexual. But, every character in the movie is a drug dealer, criminal, drug addict, bullying thug, and/or a slut. It's all the stereotypes of lower-class African-American culture. Shouldn't the media be clamoring about how racist this movie is?

Disagree with you on Collateral, I thought that was good.

You are right though, Miami vice sucked and should have been left well alone.

American Psycho is a definite movie to watch. Bateman's dismiss for external viewpoints is oddly refreshing. A man on a constant battle to become better. Can't forget plenty of women and violence

Debbie Schlussel is my go-to for movie reviews and never fails to call out SJW/progressive BS wherever she sees it. Here's what she had to say about Moonlight:

Oscars Black History: Hollywood Libs Want You To Think It’s Moonlight Druggies, Not Heroic Wereth 11

Quote:Since today is the last day of Black History Month, I have a question for you: Is Black America a community of stereotypical drug dealers, drug addicts, gangs, bullying, crime, jailbirds, and repressed gay sex . . . or is it a community of past heroism, sacrifice, and patriotism, as exhibited by the Wereth 11 in World War II? If you saw “Moonlight,” the movie which won the Best Picture Oscar at Sunday Night’s Academy Awards, you’d say it’s the first description.

Quote:Liberals don’t care about true Black history, like the Wereth Eleven and their heroism. They only care about pushing an agenda to divide us with race merchantry and take down not only Black culture, but American culture as well.

Expect more pieces of garbage like Moonlight. And nothing about the Wereth Eleven.

To them, patriotism isn’t important. And America is the enemy.

They don’t want Black Americans to feel included and be proud about their contributions to traditional institutions and war victories.

It simply doesn’t fit into the liberal agenda of destroying America from within.

The Left wants Blacks to be victims as they are in Moonlight, not heroes and proud Americans as they were in real life at Wereth.

^Yeah, but the opening sequence was about the only good part. Laugh

If you like ridiculously long shots of Ryan Gosling proving how long he can remain utterly motionless while looking at something distant then Drive is the film for you.

I'm not even kidding when I say that there were several occasions when I went to eject the dvd and look for whatever scratch had paused the movie when I realised I was watching a digital version and it was just another exceptionally lengthy shot of Gosling being deep.

RE: The Movie Thread
I just watched the new Kong movie.

Overall it wasn't too bad. The female character was the typical snarky cunt plucky trooper we've all come to expect in such roles. When someone calls her a war photographer she makes a point of telling everyone she's actually an ANTI-war photographer. That about sums up her whole character. Thankfully she doesn't demonstrate any combat outcomes that couldn't be regarded as anything other than dumb luck. Cracking set of tits in some of the shots though.

The "former SAS commando" pulled from some asian shithole acts as the white knight beta orbiter for the duration and despite everyone else progressively looking more and more bedraggled, he always seems to look like he just walked out of a salon. As such he ends up seeming more like a sexually confused faggot than a hard man.

The American soldiers just out of Vietnam are all drawn from the predictable stereotypes of dumb grunts incapable of doing anything other than follow orders. It's a familiar type of leftist bullshit that tells the audience "they're not quite villains, but they're close enough". They alone seem incapable of keeping themselves clean and dry while trekking through forests and swamps. Everyone not in uniform seems to be wearing some sort of magically self cleaning material. That too is a typical leftist subtext. The barbaric hunter/aggressors become tired, grubby and worn down while the noble academics seem to float through the wilds unmolested by dirt and danger, as if mother nature herself smiled upon them.

I the end it was a reasonable movie, thought when the credits rolled it didn't warrant the spontaneous applause of two idiots somewhere in the cinema that quickly stopped when they realised nobody else was going to join in (that seems to be the new thing, clapping at the end of mediocre films as if it were a live action play tard ). The big screen helped. If you miss it in the cinema don't rush to get it on blu-ray.

p.s. The edge-of-your-seat moment of the night was actually delivered in the preview scene for the sci-fi movie "Life" before Kong even started. If the rest of the movie is even half that thrilling it will be well worth the price of admission.

The movie is saying, 'That's OK,' and all of the kids have to own who they are and find their tribe."

"Obviously, I was very excited and really happy that the producers and the director stepped up to the plate and were willing to represent the LGBTQI community. I was really excited. I think the character they chose is really an interesting choice and really makes sense when I sit and think about it, that Trini would be questioning her sexuality and going through some of that teenage angst and I'm really excited to see how the character develops as sequels go on,"

RE: The Movie Thread
I recently watched a film I hadn't seen in years when I had my Japan craze and went after Japanese women at college to try game (didn't even know the term almost 14 years ago). The film is titled Brother, it came out in 2000 and directed by Takeshi Kitano. It's about a Yakuza member who goes to America to find his little brother after his boss is killed and he has to leave because his family disbands and his other friends join the rival gang.

He finds his brother dealing drugs with some friends and eventually take over territories from various mobs until they get wiped out by the Mafia. I think this was the only film Kitano did in America, because he seemed to not have a great experience in America due to reception.

He was also the villain in Battle Royale. I always liked his work. Japanese films are always a treat to watch compared to some American films.

Decent movie. The plot is reminiscent of Interstellar. Don't want to spoil it, but you'll see if you watch it.

Same director from Sicario, Enemy, and Prisoners.

Just watched it. It could have been better, it feels like it didn't end the way it should have been. Half-told story, I felt like movie didnt finish until i see the credits.

if you're a stephen king fan you'll prob get a kick out of this. i'm a big fan of the guy who directed this one, Andy Muschietti- he did that horror flick from a few years ago called Mama. this is supposed to be more of a book adaptation, rather than a remake of the tv show from the early 90's, though they did update the timeline for the kids into the 80's. cashing in on those Stranger Things nostalgia dollars.

movie looks solid though.

Trailer looked much better than I expected, scare-wise. I was expecting crap cause Pennywise's design isn't very good.

But I saw the name Cary Fukunawa in the credits. He's the guy that made season one of True Detective look so amazing, so maybe this might be all right.

They'll have to sanitize it like the original TV movie though. Some things in this book....can not be filmed.

I think Fukunaga was going to be the one making it first and got some rights inserted somewhere along the way. he left when they wouldn't let him make the movie he wanted. new guy has a great eye too though.

i believe it will be rated r, but yeah, the "sewer scene" from the end definitely won't be making an appearance.

Love Takeshi Kitano's work-- what little I've seen of it, anyway. Battle Royale was excellent. Outrage is another of his films that is probably somewhere in my top 20 of all time. It's a hyperviolent story of Machiavellian power struggles within a Yakuza family, and there's a lot more to it in terms of classic literary themed than meets the eye. Even its sequel, Outrage Beyond, is a pretty worthy piece of work. I highly recommend both.

I even liked Kikujiro, which is a departure from his general gangster oeuvre but only goes to showcase his brilliance.

I will check this one out for sure.

Was browsing through movie trailers and the autoplay left a movie called "The boss baby" which seemed like the average cookie cutter 3d animation flick Dreamworks and Pixar have been doing for the last ten or so years.

What DID get my attention is that the script actualy touches a subject of well know to Rvfers in a not so indirect way.
Jump to 00:48 where ythe baby character apparently is investigating why people have more puppies instead of babies.
Unfortunately there werent any rabid rainbow colored villains so I 'll be giving this one a pass...
