These guys have been doing good on the scene in the past couple years, and I feel like they are going to get even more exposure coming soon.

The director and the lead are friends of mine, where I have a long history of family with the director.

I would love to see them kill it in this industry.

The film itself is unique. A man who feels empathy for the first time in his life. Almost reverse Red Pill.

Any of you guys in New York for the Nordic Film Fest, check it out.

Looks like a movie right up my alley. Interesting plot, I love movies where the story centers around the transformation of a character.

Do you have any idea when/if it will be released worldwide? Particularly in Europe.

Its been to London for sure already, and perhaps a couple more places but I cant confirm. The festival circuit is strange, I dont know how it works.

If I hear something I will let you know!

RE: The Movie Thread
A high energy MAGA scene is appropriate for this pre-election weekend.

Brief synopsis: The main character "Ruggles" (played by the great Charles Laughton) starts out as a stuffy British butler in the service of an English aristocrat. Ruggles is handed off to a nouveau riche American that takes him back to a frontier mining town, and the movie shows the foibles of him gradually assimilating to American life.

In this scene Ruggles gives a stirring rendition of Lincoln's Gettysberg address which could just as easily apply to the fight before us now. And it should remind us all that, contrary to what our cultural enemies would have us believe, our country's history is a great one, to be proud of, and worth fighting for.

I have a fetish for obscure and/or mindfuck movies and animation.

Last movie I found was "Felidae", german animated film from the mid nineties. Twas Also an opportunity for me to Practice my comprehension.

The development of the story though
mediocre and incomplete does not rob the movie of some pretty bad ass and whathas beenseencannotbeunseeneable stomach rebuking sequences: Mendel as a demonic puppet master takes the cake though apparently it is Mostly remembered for a cat sex scene.

You can find it in YouTube in both dubs and subtitles

Excellent.

Never thought I would see a Ruggles of Red Gap reference on the forum.

Watch Intouchables/Incendies/la haine if you haven't. Those are all French films and my TOP3 French films. You should be able to find online watch streaming for intouchables and Incendies pretty easily. And La haine is on hulu

I've been having a "Dirty Harry" marathon, so far I've watched "Dirty Harry," "Magnum Force," and am watching "The Enforcer" now. I'm so tired of the garbage coming out of Hollywood today, it's really refreshing to watch such politically incorrect films. You gotta love Clint Eastwood.

Try imagining a scene like this coming out in a movie today, it'd never happen:

Showed the 1990 live action ninja turtles movie to my bird the other night and to my surprise -product placement storm aside-it has aged rather acceptably!
I find myself more interested in how a movie was made lately(costumes, direction, adaptation of script, modifications, effects.etc),defiite kudos to the guys in the suits for pulling acrobatics inside them.
The following day I googled images of the Michael Bay movies that I had never bothered to check and was met with a nighmarish torrent of uncanny valley visions

RE: The Movie Thread
Just happened to fall into this movie, "Mischief" last week. Think its very applicable for dudes that might be completely lost.

Little old Johnathan was 17 before he ever saw his first pair of tits. Then Gene from the wrong side of the tracks moves next door and befriends sad sack Jonathan. Gene takes a liking to this 1950s nice guy future serial killer in the making and says "I'll get you laid in a month"

And then rest is actually a decently well done movie.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R1LB3H7VFs

I had never heard of this movie before stumbling across it flicking thru some channels not long ago. It immediately jumped out at me because it can be raw at times and doesn't sugarcoat in the way a "She's all that" or perv out like an American Pie does.

I'm sure some older members might be able to comment on this better than I.

Nonetheless, some funny parts, worth watching.

just saw Black Sea on cable, came out in 2014 or 2015, stars Jude Law. While its set on the Black Sea, most of the action takes place on a submarine. plot is the search for lost gold. Law is very alpha, and there are several plot twists and turns. very suspenseful and while it may not deal much with male/female relationships its consistent with red pill thinking and would be enjoyed by those here

I finally got around to seeing "The Right Stuff" recently, and it absolutely blew me away. Not just a fantastically made film, but what a story! Really inspiring for me, and hit home as it was always my dream to be a pilot as a kid but my poor eyes prevented it.

For those who haven't heard of it its based on a Tom Wolfe novel, which is itself based on the Mercury 7, the early years of the space race, and test pilots pushing it all to the edge. Great stuff that I'm sure you've seen parodied tons of times, like in the Simpsons.

Here is the trailer:

RE: The Movie Thread
Just watched Sinister 2 last night on a streaming site. For your run of the mill horror film, it was alright. It lacked the ominous feeling of the first, which did a good job of building up the tension until its ultimate conclusion.

It did, however, incorporate (i.e. force) a stereotypical abusive father. In the film, he was successful, and used his connections with local and state police to somehow regain custody of the children he had previously lost to the mother through a hearing to which she was not invited, nor knew about (OK). The mother was at least portrayed as being out of her league rather than strong and independent.

Other than a few jump scares, it was meh, and didn't really add much to the first. Just another sequel that should have never happened.

'Twas a bit slow paced but I liked the premise ,and the part where a hippie mum with a daughter is begging for work is priceless:

I recently watched the first half of "American Beauty" and I've been wanting to see it for years. Lester is almost red pill in a way in that he stands up to his nagging wife and quiet daughter and tells the boss to go fuck himself.

RE: The Movie Thread
Rarely is there more than one movie out at the same time that I'm interested in seeing, but right now there's three I'd wanted to see: "Assassin's Creed," "Nocturnal Animals," and "Passengers."

This time, I decided to see "Assassin's Creed." Overall, I'd say it was pretty good. If you're not a fan of the games, it might seem a little convoluted or confusing, though. The performances and special effects were impressive, although I think they could've balanced out all the action with a little more story/dialogue, but I won't complain too much. It was entertaining, so the film served its purpose.

If I knew then what I know now, I'd probably have chosen to see one of the other two, to be honest. I was glad to see other RVF'ers give positive reviews to "Passengers," so I'll probably go see that one next.

Chappie:
I was excited about this one since it had hugh jackman's name and a robot in the cover that looked a lot like the one from some japanese toon of the 80's name of apple seed:
It gave me the impression of being a longer than an hour commercial for some notorious south african rap group whose main faces are a crack victim poster and an albino chick that will make you want to vomit every time she's on screen, skipped all the way to fight scene where a guy gets cut in half by a mech then turned it off.
Big dissapointment

Yes, it's a pretty good movie. It's been a while since I've seen it though. Kelly Preston was quite amazing back then.

I just saw an entertaining local film in the Dominican Republic today, entitled "Tuberculo Gourmet Presidente." A very funny movie about a poor country bumpkin who is made president of the Dominican Republic. Corrupt politicians place him there so that he can do their bidding, but he ends up winning over the people due to his honest charm and love for food: he gives free sancocho (Dominican soup) to the population, which drives down the crime rate.

You need to understand Spanish to appreciate the film.
