Well if that's what you want, certainly Republicans aren't delivering any of that, so I'm glad we can cheer on their demise.

One belief people seem to have that I don't get is that the president should be a master of everything. To me a president doesn't have to know everything, he just needs to be someone who can lead and people will follow. Let's be honest, pretty much every word that comes out of a president's mouth is written for him. His plans are made by his cabinet members, ambassadors, and advisors. Trump doesn't have a grasp on a lot of stuff which people will try to Gotcha him with but it's stupid to me to think that it should matter. Trump will buy or they willingly join him and make the best policies. Trump's entire immigration proposal was copy/pasted from another Senator. I don't hold it against him since it's a good proposal and you should be willing to listen and learn from others. A good example would him getting Carl Icahn who is regarded as one of the best investors alive to be the Secretary of Treasury.

But see, part of Trump's appeal as a leader is that he understands who is best to appoint for various parts of the government and best serve the people. A good leader who can delegate tasks to the most appropriate people is essential, while being able to get the support of the people.

It is impossible for one man to do everything, hence the guy at the top isn't the expert on everything but instead someone who at least has good enough judgment to know who the best experts are.

Any truth to this?

Quote: Removing all 11.2 million undocumented immigrants, both forcibly and through Mitt Romney's infamous "self-deportation" policy, would take about 20 years and cost the government between $400 billion and $600 billion. The impact on the economy would be even larger, according to the study: Real GDP would drop by nearly $1.6 trillion and the policy would shave 5.7 percent off economic growth.

RE: The Donald Trump thread
Yes, there's some truth to it.

In context though, all countries (even the shitty ones) have illegal immigrants. Since humans developed legs to walk on, there's always been a fluctuating population of nomads and migrant workers. The goal isn't to completely remove them the way you would a malignant tumor, but instead, to reduce the number to a manageable level and reduce the negative impact on our own economy while preventing new ones from arriving. A reduction of even 20-30% would be an enormous improvement from a strictly economic standpoint (hospital costs, social services, crime, etc.)

In the end, GDP is just an abstract number on paper. Knowing that my children can grow up in the America I knew and loved, surrounded by people who look like them and speak the same language, can't be put in monetary terms. Neither can population displacement and the historic/cultural ties both Blacks and Whites have to the country. I'll take whatever GDP loss results - the U.S. belongs to those who built it.

The historical record proves that the one quality a successful President has to have, above all else, is the quality of being able to lead. Even then, it does not ensure success in everything that President does -- indeed all Presidents, no matter which, fail in their work to a greater or lesser extent. Even Abraham Lincoln didn't stop the Civil War by force of persuasion even though he had the chance. The best ones, though, fail least, and the best ones invariably understand leadership. And those who don't understand leadership are guaranteed mediocrity.

Leadership is both the simplest and hardest requirement of the job. Leadership means you have to accept responsibility for outcomes, good or bad. More than that: it means you have to seek out responsibility. Harry Truman understood it best, and he constantly reminded himself of it with the famous placard he sat before him on the Oval Office desk -- the one that says The buck stops here. Leadership means you're the visible face of an initiative. Leadership means you are in charge of seeing something through. Leadership means you want to be held accountable for a result.

It means having a variety of tools in the kit to inspire, motivate, and if necessary force them to your vision: at times cajoling, at times authoritarian, at times conciliatory, at times level-headed negotiation. It means having a clear vision and direction for the people under you.

Obama is a good case in point; his focus was relentlessly on building consensus, which is to say, on getting people to agree on a collective course of action. In other words, the polar opposite of leadership. And this sort of "building consensus" has another name, a name that led JFK into the Bay of Pigs disaster and damn near brought the world to nuclear annihilation at some points: groupthink. Obama does not impress as someone who wants to be held accountable for his government's actions; indeed he has made it an art to dodge accountability at every turn. Not that he's the only such offender in recent history.

Leadership has elements that can be taught and those that cannot, but failing to develop that quality early enough in life is a bit like the kid who got brought up by wolves in the forest - even when he returns to civilisation, he won't ever speak English properly, even with the best of teachers -- the circuitry just is never laid down and can't be put in place retroactively. This is why Obama was such a shit pick for the Presidency: because he had never been in a for-profit, leadership role in his life. His 'jobs' -- community organiser, "President" of the Harvard Law Review -- are at best Idi Amin-style leadership positions, political only. And the Presidency is a pretty shit place to get on-the-job training.

Assuming he is elected, Iron Don is not going to be the Messiah for conservatives or for men generally. Let's get that clear right now. Strong as he might be, the Presidency has limits on its power. He's going to have to negotiate and compromise with every body he deals with, be it foreign or Congress interests. It took FDR four consecutive terms to smash America's foundations to the point where the weeds of socialism could sprout between the cracks, so don't imagine Trump's going to achieve a complete societal reversal in 4 or even 8 years.

But, by dint of his background, he is much more likely than most of the other contenders to have developed the leadership quality upon which the US's best Presidencies were founded. He's had to make for-profit decisions and has had to manage people, which more than anything else is the President's job.

Me, I like to imagine a Trump/Clinton debate similar to what happened on Reagan's second run, the one where Reagan turned his age into a potent weapon: "I will certainly not make this campaign about age. I will not for a moment refer to my opponent's youth and inexperience." Mondale recalled in later years that the Democrat campaign was lost that night. A similar example can be had against Clinton: "You want to talk about my four bankruptcies? Success is getting up more times than you fall. My for-profit, sole-responsiblity corporation is running and is worth billions. How many for-profit, sole-responsibility corporations have you gotten up and running since Whitewater went under?"

It's funny how many RVF members decry the 'decline of western culture', yet Donald Trump's success is a sign of the decay.

Ask yourselves: Are you willing to move to border areas, accept a low paying job, in order to to extricate (10 million) illegal immigrants?

Are you willing to stride off to Iran to crush those sand bastards and be willing to sacrifice your life? And start a war mostly to the behest of Israel? But Israeli Americans control the liberal media, right?

You really think illegals are only in border areas? That wages will not climb when 10 million illegals that will work for peanuts are removed from the labor pool?

Interesting...

No. Why would I have to do that? You know there are plenty of people who want those jobs, I don't need to do them. That's why we want the illegals gone, so that wages will rise and there'll be more jobs for the natives.

This doesn't even make sense. What are you talking about? What does "the liberal media" have to do with anything?

The extrication of 10 million illegal immigrants should actually raise wages in those industries where they're deported. What exactly is the alternative - leave the border porous? Perhaps beg Mexico to become state 52?

A fair point here. Americans don't like to fight wars themselves or send their own sons to do the job, and haven't done so for a good ... oh, 70 years or so. They would much rather send someone else, which is what the all-volunteer military is based on.

As to whether US citizens would be willing to go to war with Iran - that would depend on the goals of the engagement and the terms of engagement.

If the terms of engagement are as they were in Iraq -- i.e. "Don't do anything that could possibly look bad in front of a camera, and don't shoot through human shields" -- then the US should not be going, since that would be sheer lunacy and a dereliction of duty on the part of the Joint Chiefs if not the administration itself. If, however, the terms of engagement look a lot more like World War Two -- "Give notice to whoever's in wherever you're going that you're on your way, and that if they don't get the fuck out of the way, they will be deemed an enemy combatant" -- that's a different story, since those terms allowed the US (with its allies) to clean house in Western Europe in roughly 2.5 years (that term also being about as long as the US public is prepared to let a war go on.)

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/i...ion-reform

Quote:IMMIGRATION REFORM THAT WILL MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN

The three core principles of Donald J. Trump's immigration plan

When politicians talk about “immigration reform” they mean: amnesty, cheap labor and open borders. The Schumer-Rubio immigration bill was nothing more than a giveaway to the corporate patrons who run both parties.

Real immigration reform puts the needs of working people first – not wealthy globetrotting donors. We are the only country in the world whose immigration system puts the needs of other nations ahead of our own. That must change. Here are the three core principles of real immigration reform:

1. A nation without borders is not a nation. There must be a wall across the southern border.

2. A nation without laws is not a nation. Laws passed in accordance with our Constitutional system of government must be enforced.

3. A nation that does not serve its own citizens is not a nation. Any immigration plan must improve jobs, wages and security for all Americans.

Make Mexico Pay For The Wall

For many years, Mexico’s leaders have been taking advantage of the United States by using illegal immigration to export the crime and poverty in their own country (as well as in other Latin American countries). They have even published pamphlets on how to illegally immigrate to the United States. The costs for the United States have been extraordinary: U.S. taxpayers have been asked to pick up hundreds of billions in healthcare costs, housing costs, education costs, welfare costs, etc. Indeed, the annual cost of free tax credits alone paid to illegal immigrants quadrupled to $4.2 billion in 2011. The effects on jobseekers have also been disastrous, and black Americans have been particularly harmed.

The impact in terms of crime has been tragic. In recent weeks, the headlines have been covered with cases of criminals who crossed our border illegally only to go on to commit horrific crimes against Americans. Most recently, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, with a long arrest record, is charged with breaking into a 64 year-old women’s home, crushing her skull and eye sockets with a hammer, raping her, and murdering her. The Police Chief in Santa Maria says the “blood trail” leads straight to Washington.

In 2011, the Government Accountability Office found that there were a shocking 3 million arrests attached to the incarcerated alien population, including tens of thousands of violent beatings, rapes and murders.

Meanwhile, Mexico continues to make billions on not only our bad trade deals but also relies heavily on the billions of dollars in remittances sent from illegal immigrants in the United States back to Mexico ($22 billion in 2013 alone).

In short, the Mexican government has taken the United States to the cleaners. They are responsible for this problem, and they must help pay to clean it up.

The cost of building a permanent border wall pales mightily in comparison to what American taxpayers spend every single year on dealing with the fallout of illegal immigration on their communities, schools and unemployment offices.

Mexico must pay for the wall and, until they do, the United States will, among other things: impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages; increase fees on all temporary visas issued to Mexican CEOs and diplomats (and if necessary cancel them); increase fees on all border crossing cards – of which we issue about 1 million to Mexican nationals each year (a major source of visa overstays); increase fees on all NAFTA worker visas from Mexico (another major source of overstays); and increase fees at ports of entry to the United States from Mexico [Tariffs and foreign aid cuts are also options]. We will not be taken advantage of anymore.

Defend The Laws And Constitution Of The United States

America will only be great as long as America remains a nation of laws that lives according to the Constitution. No one is above the law. The following steps will return to the American people the safety of their laws, which politicians have stolen from them:

Triple the number of ICE officers. As the President of the ICE Officers’ Council explained in Congressional testimony: “Only approximately 5,000 officers and agents within ICE perform the lion’s share of ICE’s immigration mission…Compare that to the Los Angeles Police Department at approximately 10,000 officers. Approximately 5,000 officers in ICE cover 50 states, Puerto Rico and Guam, and are attempting to enforce immigration law against 11 million illegal aliens already in the interior of the United States. Since 9-11, the U.S. Border Patrol has tripled in size, while ICE’s immigration enforcement arm, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), has remained at relatively the same size.” This will be funded by accepting the recommendation of the Inspector General for Tax Administration and eliminating tax credit payments to illegal immigrants.

Nationwide e-verify. This simple measure will protect jobs for unemployed Americans.

Mandatory return of all criminal aliens. The Obama Administration has released 76,000 aliens from its custody with criminal convictions since 2013 alone. All criminal aliens must be returned to their home countries, a process which can be aided by canceling any visas to foreign countries which will not accept their own criminals, and making it a separate and additional crime to commit an offense while here illegally.

Detention—not catch-and-release. Illegal aliens apprehended crossing the border must be detained until they are sent home, no more catch-and-release.

Defund sanctuary cities. Cut-off federal grants to any city which refuses to cooperate with federal law enforcement.

Enhanced penalties for overstaying a visa. Millions of people come to the United States on temporary visas but refuse to leave, without consequence. This is a threat to national security. Individuals who refuse to leave at the time their visa expires should be subject to criminal penalties; this will also help give local jurisdictions the power to hold visa overstays until federal authorities arrive. Completion of a visa tracking system – required by law but blocked by lobbyists – will be necessary as well.

Cooperate with local gang task forces. ICE officers should accompany local police departments conducting raids of violent street gangs like MS-13 and the 18th street gang, which have terrorized the country. All illegal aliens in gangs should be apprehended and deported. Again, quoting Chris Crane: “ICE Officers and Agents are forced to apply the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Directive, not to children in schools, but to adult inmates in jails. If an illegal-alien inmate simply claims eligibility, ICE is forced to release the alien back into the community. This includes serious criminals who have committed felonies, who have assaulted officers, and who prey on children…ICE officers should be required to place detainers on every illegal alien they encounter in jails and prisons, since these aliens not only violated immigration laws, but then went on to engage in activities that led to their arrest by police; ICE officers should be required to issue Notices to Appear to all illegal aliens with criminal convictions, DUI convictions, or a gang affiliation; ICE should be working with any state or local drug or gang task force that asks for such assistance.”

End birthright citizenship. This remains the biggest magnet for illegal immigration. By a 2:1 margin, voters say it’s the wrong policy, including Harry Reid who said “no sane country” would give automatic citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants.

Put American Workers First

Decades of disastrous trade deals and immigration policies have destroyed our middle class. Today, nearly 40% of black teenagers are unemployed. Nearly 30% of Hispanic teenagers are unemployed. For black Americans without high school diplomas, the bottom has fallen out: more than 70% were employed in 1960, compared to less than 40% in 2000. Across the economy, the percentage of adults in the labor force has collapsed to a level not experienced in generations. As CBS news wrote in a piece entitled “America’s incredible shrinking middle class”: “If the middle-class is the economic backbone of America, then the country is developing osteoporosis.”

The influx of foreign workers holds down salaries, keeps unemployment high, and makes it difficult for poor and working class Americans – including immigrants themselves and their children – to earn a middle class wage. Nearly half of all immigrants and their US-born children currently live in or near poverty, including more than 60 percent of Hispanic immigrants. Every year, we voluntarily admit another 2 million new immigrants, guest workers, refugees, and dependents, growing our existing all-time historic record population of 42 million immigrants. We need to control the admission of new low-earning workers in order to: help wages grow, get teenagers back to work, aid minorities’ rise into the middle class, help schools and communities falling behind, and to ensure our immigrant members of the national family become part of the American dream.

Additionally, we need to stop giving legal immigrant visas to people bent on causing us harm. From the 9/11 hijackers, to the Boston Bombers, and many others, our immigration system is being used to attack us. The President of the immigration caseworkers union declared in a statement on ISIS: “We've become the visa clearinghouse for the world.”

Here are some additional specific policy proposals for long-term reform:

Increase prevailing wage for H-1Bs. We graduate two times more Americans with STEM degrees each year than find STEM jobs, yet as much as two-thirds of entry-level hiring for IT jobs is accomplished through the H-1B program. More than half of H-1B visas are issued for the program's lowest allowable wage level, and more than eighty percent for its bottom two. Raising the prevailing wage paid to H-1Bs will force companies to give these coveted entry-level jobs to the existing domestic pool of unemployed native and immigrant workers in the U.S., instead of flying in cheaper workers from overseas. This will improve the number of black, Hispanic and female workers in Silicon Valley who have been passed over in favor of the H-1B program. Mark Zuckerberg’s personal Senator, Marco Rubio, has a bill to triple H-1Bs that would decimate women and minorities.

Requirement to hire American workers first. Too many visas, like the H-1B, have no such requirement. In the year 2015, with 92 million Americans outside the workforce and incomes collapsing, we need to companies to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed. Petitions for workers should be mailed to the unemployment office, not USCIS.

End welfare abuse. Applicants for entry to the United States should be required to certify that they can pay for their own housing, healthcare and other needs before coming to the U.S.

Jobs program for inner city youth. The J-1 visa jobs program for foreign youth will be terminated and replaced with a resume bank for inner city youth provided to all corporate subscribers to the J-1 visa program.

Refugee program for American children. Increase standards for the admission of refugees and asylum-seekers to crack down on abuses. Use the monies saved on expensive refugee programs to help place American children without parents in safer homes and communities, and to improve community safety in high crime neighborhoods in the United States.

Immigration moderation. Before any new green cards are issued to foreign workers abroad, there will be a pause where employers will have to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed immigrant and native workers. This will help reverse women's plummeting workplace participation rate, grow wages, and allow record immigration levels to subside to more moderate historical averages.

HELL YEAH!!

This is one solid hard hitting piece that'll leave them reeling & shell shocked.

Consulting Senator Jeff Sessions is a master stroke.

At this point, I'm all in for Trump. Everyone I talk to will hear an earful about why we should all be voting for Donald Trump in 2016.

The jobs illegals are doing will be automated within the next decade or two most likely which no one factors into their sky is falling analysis of the market if we deport illegals. China and Japan have already automated a few of those jobs and Amazon has robots that do the manual labor of searching and retrieving items in their warehouses.

It's true that a few labor intensive industries would grind to a halt if you removed all these illegals via mass deportation overnight. However the way they are estimating this is surely full of fudged figures if not outright bullshit.

They are looking at a situation where there's a multiple mass deportations instead of a rational scaling down and tightening of the border. If you control the tap at the border and start reducing the dependency on illegal labor immediately then the problem solves itself over time. Commerce naturally finds a way.

This is especially true in "grey" market labor like freelance contracting and landscaping which is full of illegals. Legitimate blue collar employees will fill the gap. People will be paying more to put up a sunroom in their McMansion or mow their lawn but when you do a cost/benefit analysis it's way better this way in the long run.

The mistake the tough on illegal states made (like Alabama) was just chasing them out practically overnight and penalizing the employers hard. It was implemented by morons. That creates a huge labor shock without any substitute labor ready to be put in place.

Pulling all labor out instantly really does screw the economy up though. A rational and well thought out scaling down of illegals is feasible.

Yes, I'm also disappointed he is so pro-Israel. I'd prefer we took a hands-off approach to the Middle East for a while, but immigration and trade are such a big deal that I'm willing to overlook some of his stances.

Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

Physically removing them? Yes, it would be difficult and cost a lot of money.

However, the most important elements of his proposal are a national e-verify database which would ensure the legality of a worker, the elimination of HB-1 visa which is only regarding the legal importation of foreign labor, and the repeal of the birthright citizenship right in the 14th Amendment.

Just these 3 pieces would eliminate the vast majority of illegal and legal immigration which would preclude the need for any physical removal entirely.

Yes, if you remove millions of people from your country, your aggregate GDP would drop, but that in no way means your standard of living drops. Illegal immigrants generally bring our standard of living down in any ranking, so by removing them our GDP would end up being a bit smaller than it otherwise would, but our standard of living higher.

Economic growth rate doesn't really matter, it's well-being that matters. If we take out 11 million people who are poor and going to have poor kids, yes, our overall GDP will not grow as much but everything will be just fine.

Who said Trump was starting a war with Iran?

U.S. Presidents, Republican or Democrat, generally start a few pointless wars. I don't see Trump as being more of a risk for that than anyone else.

Imagine the jobs though!

Unemployed Americans could finally find honest work in the Department of Physical Removal. Then afterwards they could fill holes in the restaurant and construction industry, suddenly hiring and paying actual legal wages!

There is no truth to this. Smells like bullshit from miles away. Illegals bring in 1.6 trillion? That's a joke, 90% of them don't even pay taxes yet consume tons of public services. Not to mention the tons of crime they commit.

Moreover, one of the big reasons American citizens aren't having as many kids is because young Americans today have such high unemployment and low wages. Increase those and Americans will naturally start having more kids again which will translate to more GDP in the future based on real fundamentals and not nation destroying illegals.
