There's worse. SPOILERS ....................................
.............. Right at the beginning, Captain America is now chairing a sort of 'Survivor Support Group' and one of the attendees starts chatting about how much he misses his 'husband'. I nearly spat my drink out.

Poor Thor though (and Hulk). These characters, especially Thor, just had their balls torn right off in this film like you wouldn't believe.

Even when Thor kills Thanos it just comes across as a dick move as Thanos is half-fucked after destroying the stones and is actually being held down helpless by two others! Hardly an honourable kill.

With Thor there was enough foreshadowing and repetition of the line 'it's time to become what I am, rather than what I'm supposed to be' that at one point I genuinely feared he was about to come out and declare himself gender-fluid. It actually crossed my mind. In fact, I'm certain that line was a dog-whistle for those watching that are that way inclined.

Remember that every single actor, director, and producer in the modern media is trying to cram the homosexual/tranny agenda down your throat, always. Even when they aren't obviously doing so, they are setting up a story arc in which at the very last minute, that will be the pivotal point.

Even thought these people are moral slime, they are master storytellers and master emotional manipulators...the best in human history, by definition.

This is why for the first 60 years of it's existence, the modern movie/tv industry was ruthlessly policed by religious groups that enforced healthy moral messaging. Society back then was fully aware of the creepy, sleazy nature of the movie makers.

Unfortunately we let the beast off it's chain. Now we need to get it back on. A few people will need to go to jail along the way.

The first of this blunt overuse of music I noticed was in Star Trek: The Next Generation and it's related series. Over the top, intrusive, and insistent scoring, every second of every episode, hammering you at every instant with musical prompts telling you how you were supposed to feel about the onscreen goings-on. A poor substitute for good writing and skilled acting.

RE: Boycott Brie Larson's, Marvel's MCU film - Captain Marvel.
I'm pretty selective of when I got to the theater and give Hollywood my money. I went and saw it to close out the saga.

Infinity War was a sick movie IMO. So many characters got "killed" and the ending was uncharacteristically bleak for a super hero flick, it felt fresh seeing the heroes get beaten for once. It was also cool seeing all the characters come together, Spider Man got his time to shine in his armor.

Endgame was just weak as fuck. Throw in the time travel trope and the Avengers didn't even go anywhere new, they were literally revisiting scenes from previous movies. Also way more noticeable propaganda in this movie that I either didn't notice or wasn't really there in Infinity War. Captain Marvel with her femcunt haircut (some executive signed off on that...) and the scene where all the female heroes line up in the middle of the big battle...seriously? Hard cringe.

Not a butthurt fanboy over here, it was just really underwhelming.

I've just seen it and I only recommend those who've seen and enjoyed most of the Marvel movies.
Spoilers
Good bits
  • It focuses mostly on giving emotional closure to the original 5 avengers
  • Carol Danvers is thankfully not on screen for long. Hopefully there will be fancut like the JarJar-free Phantom Edit for Starwars.
  • Antman gives us an outsider's look at the post-snap world
  • The sheer scale of the battle at the end.(though I prefered the colourfulness of Aquaman's battle.)
  • Tilda Swinton's Sorceror Supreme really made the most of her limited screentime.

Bad
  • No real villain, Thanos made Infinity War great, so it makes this film a lot more disjointed
  • It relied a lot on connections to other films.(Luckily not Cap'n Marvel)

RE: Boycott Brie Larson's, Marvel's MCU film - Captain Marvel.
Yeah, most of these reviews and comments on here seem very fair to me. Much more balanced than the usual online circle-jerk you find on social media etc.

Interestingly, I've spoken to a couple of people in real life who posted that the loved the movie, only to find in talking to them that they actually had almost as many reservations about it as I did. I think a lot of people got carried away in the moment with this one, which is understandable. It's a big, emotional 'event' movie with an 'end of an era' feel.

I actually hate posting negative reviews and don't want to come across as cynical all the time. For the record, Infinity War was an excellent movie and Endgame had a hard job matching up to it. Overall, though the quality of all these MCU movies has been uniformly very high, but it all feels 'over' to me now and I can't imagine I'll be rushing to see the next batch, especially now that they've taken the brakes off on the diversity train.

This is a hobby horse of mine.

You actually see this most visibly in HD remasters of old games from the 90's and early 2000's, where the soundtracks are redone/retooled and lose everything that was special about them, a wall of noise available with all the new techniques available to them.

Original:

Poor remaster:

Look at the abberation of the right, where is the California Sun and sky of LA? Its GREEN NOW. Not sunbaked hazy and dusty. Why did the remove the natural look of the left? It changes the atmosphere of the desert completely.

What Cameron said it was always supposed to look like:

Doubtful as he did the same with the T1 remaster as well, would you repaint other great films, it like we're writing our vision of this era on films of the past.

This is now the version everybody will watch unknowingly.

Films and games are meeting each other on blandness, (and games were always going to go this for years they have been emulating cinema in every way, back in the 90's, Hollywood still did memorable soundtracks and they emulated that)

Composers want to create memorable melodies but have it psychologically beat/drilled out of them by university. It'd be like
Michael Schumacher being forced to do driving lessons in a Ford Fiesta forever. Eventually you'd kill his soul/spark and he'll forget he ever could go beyond and dream of more. Another analogy is where they tie a rope line of baby tour elephants together by their feet when very young until adulthood, by the time they're adults they're conditioned to never run or stampede.

I think as far music is concerned, I believe that is just the downside of cinema and mass entertainment targeting everyone rather specific demographics. Something I have noticed however is that when they do that, they target children or people with child-like minds. Which is more a sad state of affairs when people say they love Marvel movies, which are not what I think of when it comes to cinematography.

I would love to discuss the music evolution as far as entertainment is concerned in a thread made for it.

RE: Boycott Brie Larson's, Marvel's MCU film - Captain Marvel.
Overall I liked the last Avengers. Yeah - they pulled out the gauntlet-destroys-bodies out of their ass to hinder the Hulk and at the same time have Tony go away in style.

But then the SJW takeover began with Thor abdicating for a mixed African Valkyrie (a blonde is only good when it's a lesbian cunt like Captain Marvel), Captain America giving the mantle to Falcon who was an original character and they follow the pure SJW-Marvel line. Next you will see a female Thorette who will call herself Thor, because Cap America left to the past with Thor's hammer. And Thor has a different weapon now - he is a fat loser anyway. In the comics they usually let him become a mix between Odin and Thor after the passing of Odin - he would become fully divine and stronger in power. But that is too much as well for the usual SJW explanations.

Still - the movie was fine in itself with a moving end for Tony Stark. I also like Thor joining the Guardians of the Galaxy. The irony is that their future movies will be the best ones unless they have to cut down all the men there too.

RE: Boycott Brie Larson's, Marvel's MCU film - Captain Marvel.
Watched the film yesterday with my wife and brother.

I skipped Captain Marvel and almost did not wish to watch this one either due to Hollywood’s ‘wokeness’ but decided against it to gain a sense of conclusion.

For the first time in my cinema going experience have I always cringed when I saw a particular actor/character on the screen i.e. Brie Larson. Everything about her character both as an actual person and the hero she portrays felt simply wrong and forced. Black Widow was in stark contrast to that.

Would have loved to been on the set to see how the actual production went. Judging by the interviews with Brie... it must have been interesting to say the least.

All in all it was a good film and I loved how they gave Ironman and Captain a solid goodbye. Hated the way they treated Thor.

The final battle was good but again every time Captain Marvel came on screen I just wanted her to scram back out. And that 'girl power' scene was like something out of a Bolshevik propaganda movie - perfectly executed for maximum points but simply failed as a film scene because you could feel that it was forced in order to tick some 'woke' boxes.

Anyhow... I'm done with Marvel - as is my wife and brother. Was a nice ride and like every good thing in life it must come to an end in order to savor it.

I can already see the direction they are headed for and I'm not impressed. But SJW going to SJW, so it was to be expected.

Honestly my favorite scene was Thanos smashing Captain Marvel around, despite her Mary Sue like qualities.

Romans 8:31 - 'What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?'

My notes.

That video on temp music was incredible! No wonder you don't have memorable theme music you can hum too, or more importantly remember! Producers not taking risk on music too! They literally steal from other popular movies inoffensive, bland music. Danny Elfman was amazing in the 90s. Not sure if he did anything great recently.

I won 10 tickets (trivia night) to a showing at the local theater so I took my girl and invited some friends a couple nights ago (Monday). After the movie on the way out we're discussing it and one of the women mentions how cool the whole "all girl power scene" was.

My response was "yeah its really cool and everything but its funny that in real life not a single one of those bitches can parallel park their car without scraping the rims on the curb."

I hated that Thanos lost. The movie was good, not great. Was I the only one annoyed when Captain Marvel came at the end and it was just a bunch of female super heroes with her?

RE: Boycott Brie Larson's, Marvel's MCU film - Captain Marvel.
So I saw Avengers Endgame yesterday and, contrary to my earlier thoughts, it's actually a well-made and enjoyable movie. The ending made sense, didn't feel either deus-ex-machina nor overly convoluted, and the plot never caused me to stop and wonder "WTF is this shit now". The endings for all the major characters seemed natural and unforced, given that those characters had been with us for 10 years now.

The sole exception in this otherwise excellent and fulfilling movie is, of course, Captain Marvel. Although the screenwriters made the very wise decision of keeping her appearance and plot effects to the minimum, every second of her being on screen was nonetheless grating.

It's not so much that Captain Marvel's arrogant attitude sucks and her infinite powers are utterly boring (invulnerability + laz0r pew pew pew), but most of the problem rests with Brie Larson, who has the charisma of a Hillary Clinton/!Jeb Bush cyborg and can't utter a single sentence in a convincing, non-robotic way. If it had been Gal Gadot (the actress who played Wonder Woman) uttering those same lines, they would have come across much better and the character could have even ended up being at least a bit likable.

The social justice was found only in tiny amounts - the shy faggot at the beginning and the 3-second grrrlpower scene (thankfully without any comments or slogans) and that's it. Personally, I feel that it's just a normal movie that doesn't leave you with the icky feeling of "ok, in this scene (((someone))) is trying to tell me what to think" like The Last Jedi or similar clusterfucks do.

That part where Thanos absolutely annihilated their HQ with his ship and they all conveniently survived without any serious injuries definitely had me wondering "WTF is this now"

Completely agree, but honestly, by that point so late into the movie the plot had ramped up enough that I was willing to forgive such idiosyncrasies and just enjoy the remaining action.

I'm not usually a proponent of "hey, ignore this stupid details because of the cool story/effects", but it's the MCU and the final MCU movie at that - it's not Game of Thrones whose entire appeal was built on consistency and realism and whose sudden absence is really grating.
