RE: Boycott Brie Larson's, Marvel's MCU film - Captain Marvel.
I'm hearing now that this film is going to make a Billion dollars. Depressing in itself, but also puzzling.

Back in the day, when a blockbuster movie of this size came out, you would see queues of people snaking out of the cinema. You'd also hear about it for weeks at work or school.

I haven't heard mention of this once in my everyday life (just rvf and twitter talk). I work in ICT and computer nerds lap these movies up, yet not one person I know in the office or at the water-cooler has seen it yet! (I know this 'cos I ask them). Can anyone who's been to the theatre to see this (I won't judge!) confirm that all the seats were full? This just seems damn odd to me, unless the nature of movie-going has changed over the years and nobody told me, maybe people just buy tickets online now and post about it on social media and don't even go to see the movie.

Marvel inflating the figures and buying tickets sounds crazy but I've heard crazier.

I'm almost curious enough to source a download and see for myself what a billion-dollar movie looks like these days.

Endgame will do big business due to it being the culmination of everything etc. But after that? Marvel must be shitting themselves, 'cos if it wasn't for the charisma of Robert Downey Jr and the iconic nature of some of these classic characters (who are all retiring or being replaced) the films wouldn't have done half so well.

Yep.
Post Infinity War, Antman & the Wasp crawled to ~$620mil or so over three months.
Thor Ragnorok took the better part of four months to get to ~$850 mil or so.

Yet this bland film of a character & actress very few were familiar with.
Which received widespread mediocre reviews.
Somehow raced to $500 mil & continued on quite steadily to $918 mil as of yesterday...? In less than 20 days?

The MCU may be popular, yet as per two of it's recent entries. It's not that popular.
Especially when you say, it has not set the world on fire.

Black Panther's success I can understand.
Virtual cultural movement & folk flocking to see it multiple times.

CM however. There is no need nor reason to see it more than once. It's so damn bland & dull.

Would love to know the advertising budget, I've never seen a movie so far into release still being the only movie with TV ads, like it's been a solid month now and it's like it's still the only movie in cinemas.

Wouldn't shock me if it takes a billion and still lost money the amount of advertising that has been put into forcing it down throats.

Who owns the advertising companies?

Who owns the cinemas where millions of ghost-tickets are being purchased?

The concept of "losing money" on a project like this is extremely difficult to calculate in any meaningful way.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

Technically, everything in the USA is owned by some mixture of Vangard Group, Newport Trust, FMR, Blackrock, Price Rowe, State Street et. al.

Marvel inflating the figures and buying tickets sounds crazy but I've heard crazier.

This has gnawed at me as well. But the idea of Marvel buying tickets on opening weekend to artificially inflate the box office numbers is not as far-fetched as it seems. Marvel knew that they absolutely had to avoid a box-office bomb, like Solo. I couldn't find a statement of the marketing budget for Captain Marvel on-line, but the combined production and marketing budget was stated as $300MM in one article (https://deadline.com/2019/03/captain-mar...202571905/), and another article states the production budget was $152MM (https://variety.com/2019/film/news/capta...203158181/. So the marketing budget was probably about $150MM. They ran a Super Bowl ad for this fucking POS movie!

Marvel could have easily spent some of that marketing budget buying tickets on the first two days of opening weekend (Thursday night and Friday)in order to boost the numbers. Crazy you say? Not really, when you consider that 90% of the ticket sales proceeds would have gone right back to Marvel. I couldn't find a statement of the precise deal terms for this movie, but for a major "blockbuster" from a big studio, especially one released at a time when no other big movies were released, the 90% figure for the opening weekend is not unheard of. See, e.g., https://www.nytimes.com/1987/01/28/movie...-goes.html ("The manner in which income is distributed changes from week to week. During the first two weeks, generally, the theater owner's expenses - the cost of labor, the electricity to run the popcorn machine, taxes, mortgage, depreciation, new carpets - are deducted from the box-office receipts, then the distributing studio gets 90 percent of the remainder and the theater keeps 10 percent.")

The opening weekend box-office gross was $61MM for Thursday and Friday (combined), and this was celebrated with great fanfare in the idiot media https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-v...ch-1193330. Marvel could has chosen to inflate the Thursday and Friday numbers in order to kick-start the narrative, and prime-the-pump to get the normies into the seats on Saturday and Sunday.

How much of the Thursday/Friday gross could have been due to straw purchases by Marvel itself? We'll never know, but it could have been a lot. If fully half of the ticket sales were fake, that would have cost Marvel only $3MM, because 90% of the $30MM Marvel would have spent to buy tickets would have been paid by the movie theaters right back to Marvel itself. Would Marvel really spend $3MM doing this? Well, they spent $5MM just to run that one Super Bowl ad https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Ma...#Marketing

I also noticed that the "high-end" art-house cinema near me had this movie on four screens (out of 12), and those were the four biggest screens. WTF? They never do that for super-hero films at this cinema. And the online ticketing app showed lots of seats purchased well in advance for opening weekend. If a large portion of those tickets ended up being no-shows, then we'd know something was up.

Does anyone have a friend who works at a movie theater who could shed some light on this?

RE: Boycott Brie Larson's, Marvel's MCU film - Captain Marvel.
This movie almost got 1 bio. $ and will certainly cross that line.

God knows why the Chinese put 140 mio. $ into it - that is the most puzzling aspect of the movie.

Either way - this is just the beginning. Let them feel emboldened by this success - the sooner they go the full Last Jedi on the entire franchise, the sooner this shit will collapse on itself. Or the morons at the screens deserve this crap only wondering in 30 years why no one likes watching the SJW-drivel anymore.

Especially the new Marvel games are a good indicator - look at the trailer:

Nick Fury - the great war hero who got his eye scratched out by a pussy - he gives the God-powered team of well-liked heroes a pep-talk while in the end Captain Marvel swoops in in front of the boys, turns around, thanks Cat-eye-Fury for his warm-up and then commands the frigging hulk like the big marxist feminazi bestest-hero-ever.

Recently in SJW land that bitch and some of her supporters at fellow White anti-male anti-Western (((Netflix))) reacted to a frigging fan comment on her new movie with a direct response. So Netflix literally reacted to criticism of a nobody and then Brie Larson re-tweeted that. It resulted in the deletion of that account since that person was doxxed and was fearing for his livelihood as the SJW-borg collective actually merited the word harrassment. They never use that word here when real people with no power and little income get their lives threatened - but woe an ugly black actress claims to have wept because someone online said a mean word regarding her looks and Ghostbusters performance. How should a multi-millionaire actress survive this when someone on the internet says something negative about her? Better ban everyone!

Captain Marvel is the perfect hero of our times - a direct representation of the marxist times and a harbinger of worse things to come. You will for example see many other things - Muslim girl with disgusting powers, Black Panther becoming his sister of course and being much better at it ... many other things.

I am boycotting almost all of Hollywood with my wallet. Even with my nephews and other kids I would rather play video games than give those suckers cash.

They had the least amount of almost non-existent propaganda in the last Avengers movie which is fitting - they know exactly what works and what doesn't and still do it. That should tell you clearly that they are propaganda workers - sometimes missing calibration as they destroyed the Star Wars brand thinking that they could do it all with a franchise that was bigger than Marvel.

There is no way this movie honestly makes more money than Thor Ragnarok. That movie was THE talk of my social circle full of STEM nerds (the core audience) for a very long time with many people, myself included, seeing it multiple times at the cinema. This one I did not even hear a peep. And the nerds I know hated The Last Jedi, after that they would never see one like it again.

Captain Manhater's finance book was definitely very well cooked.

Anyone have the talent to photoshop Brie Larson in an apron next to a cooktop searing an accounting ledger in a frying pan?

New footage for Endgame are showing what's up:

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/new-av...0-6466032/

Quote:According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney showed "several minutes" of the movie, and one scene showed Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) telling the Avengers that they plan to kill Thanos. They might not have succeeded in Infinity War, but Captain Marvel says in the new footage, "Before, you didn't have me."

Quote:Also in the new footage, Captain America (Chris Evans) loses his subdued attitude and bluntly states about Thanos, "Let's get that son of a bitch." ComicBook also saw the footage, and the site reports that the footage included Nebula saying she knows where Thanos is, and that Captain Marvel has a cocky attitude and believes Thanos has never faced someone as powerful as her. Captain Marvel also apparently talks about wanting to use the Infinity Stones to undo Thanos' snap.

Seems like Brie Larson is just playing herself in the movies - just a bit more arrogant.

That script seems early familiar to a certain game enjoyed by 10-year olds...

Thanos: *KILLING SPREE* *DOUBLE KILL* *MEGA KILL*
Captain Marvel: OMG u noobs!
Captain America: Fuck u!#!#!%!%!
Captain Marvel: Let's gank Thanos!
Nebula: *pings Thanos's location on map*
*Thanos's killing spree was ended by Captain Marvel*
Captain Marvel: OMG N00b u suck
Thanos: stop cheating ffs
*GAME OVER*

I'm not quite sure how one can be so arrogant with hammer toes and foot fungus a senior citizen would be ashamed of.

I've done 155% more than this bitch has and I would never allow myself to be photographed with feets like that. It would be humiliating.

She is the epitome of the SJW-actress in full-arrogance-display.

And the funny part is that the bootlicking mainstream media loves it:

I wonder if we moved far enough into clown world so that this bitch of a woman is deemed likeable and a symbol of new femininity. Because if that is so, then I guess the West deserves to be destroyed via third world migration.

^ Larson is so thoroughly dislikable in her mannerisms and politics. Does she have to live up to every single stereotype of the "woke, white, liberal, young woman"?

Is she a person or a damn caricature?

It startling, she's the complete opposite of this:

I mean Larson could act agreeable (even if she could) but she can't so........she can't. OK I made my own point.

I believe Clarke came close to death a few times much earlier in her life due to a chronic condition, and if it she did it shows. Clarke's is decent enough actress but has limited range so I'm inclined to believe this is her natural personality

I've found most of the really decent people in life do these things e.g enthusiastic "exactly" line is something I've found copped onto when I was younger worked really well and leaning into jokes of another person and making the most of them........not doing some bullshit "awkward" line to a clumsy joke, like a Hill Valley snot girl vying for attention because they're so unassured of themselves. I hate that shit being done to me and I've very rarely done it to others because of it.

Here is two other examples of charming:

I'm sure the next time Chris Hemsworth is getting Thor's Hammer polished between a pair of firm, supple, bouncy 18-year-old tits in some ritzy hotel room whose price he neither knows nor ever has to care about, he'll be really upset about that time Brie Larson didn't take his compliment.

Really, really upset.

She is completely representative of a Northern California girl. Watch her facial reactions and then multiply by just about every women in SF and Sacramento. Feminazi trained women who are bitter and resentful especially against White men.

As this guy put it well - she reacted how many SJWs and gulag-trained feminists react. He sees that all the time and I saw it too with those family members that turned feminazi-SJW. They become difficult to deal with even with their leftist friends.

To top it off - this feminazi SJW just got paid 5 mio. $ which is more than 4.5 mio. $ more than Chris Hemsworth for her first movie. She signed a 10 movie MCU deal and likely thinks that she will be the Robert Downey Jr. of the MCU. I can't wait for Disney to keep on pumping that cunt up to high heaven and then tank the entire frigging franchise to the ground.

What will of course happen later is that they will simply wait out a few years and then reboot it again and maybe the people would become more brainwashed by then to accept aggro-cunts as superheroes.

Anytime I see a woman acting out of school, I get curious about her relationship with her father. So to no surprise, it appears that Brie is estranged from her father, seeing as how they haven't spoken in over a decade. Larson is not her surname, it's Desaulniers. (but that's common for actors to change their name)

She also has been acting since 6 years old, since...color me shocked and amazed...her parents got divorced. So after divorce raping her husband, and figuratively castrating him by running off with his children to Hollywood to exploit them, the mom probably stopped working to become an annoying, over-zealous helicopter mom who was going to make her girl a star! A bit of conjecture here, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's how it went.

And now we get to witness complete mediocrity get propped up for political purposes until she's all used up. And the wheel in the sky keeps on turning.
