RE: Military Coup in Turkey
Sorry if this is a dumb question but how is the coup going to fail if the entire military is taking over? Turkey's military is pretty sophisticated. This isn't the Iraqi army. Also, aren't most Turks against hardcore Islamists like Erdogan?

It also eliminates Erogdan's ability to out them.

If its Russian backed/US opposed, well thats not good.

If both support it, its a message to Saudi Arabia to get the fuck in line ASAP.

If its none, well, that scares the shit out of me.

Crazy shit.

This is a sign of things to come. Many of the establishment will turn-coat and jump on the Trump train if/when he wins.

Some sources claim its not the entire military couping, only a small part. Hard to tell what is real truth.

Not necessarily, and I don't think he ever would, he has way too much to risk snitching.

It would be good, they were mending relations with Russia recently also. Why ? Because it gives Russia a foothold into the west. After all Turkey is the link between east and west.

Of course the odds of this happening or very low, not to mention US Turkey based nukes still there since the cold war.

Doubt that also, Turkey has had a few coups, this is just another one by the military whose sick of Erdogan.

That does scare me also, but more than likely its the military wanting Erdogan out. If they succeed it'd be a great thing.

Yep, basically if the instability comes home and people no longer trust your ability to protect, your strangehold on power is on a countdown to zero. An overthrow could stem from such a situation. Meaning their sweet deal of MIC goes out the window when they are undermined by their own retardation. This is a prudent move.

There also exists the possibility of loyalist forces or even paid agents within the military giving the present rulers a "heads up" of any impending action against their regime. The timeline of such could be measured in minutes before Erdogan's detail got word and made a move to get him out. The priorities are lock down the borders and the airports to secure the battlespace, then grab the media to secure the flow of information.

RE: Military Coup in Turkey
I've been scouring the news media outlets and no one really can give us a clear picture.

But this is the key thing as I see it:

Erodogan is broadcasting from some remote location. He's calling on his imam flunkies and Islamist rabble to save his lying ass. He's calling on the "people" to take to the streets.

If he's doing that, then that's his last card to play. In coups, the last card for the person being overthrown is to call for either:

1. Trade union strikes
2. Public mass demonstrations

So that means Erdogan has lost the military, and has lost control of key nodes of power in Ankara and Istanbul. This has been planned for many months. The airborne, armored, and special forces units are in the hands of the coup plotters.

Erdogan has no guns and is playing his last card: public demonstrations and chaos.

The US and Israel may cut off the finances and may freeze assets. But I think that as long as the military can hold on for another day, they will likely see victory.

Pray hard.

There's a Turkish government plane of the Gulfstream 4 type circling in the airspace south west of Istanbul for quite a while now.
It departed from Dalaman Airport close to Marmaris, where so far the last known location of Erdogan was:

I sincerily hope so, but some of the videos are discouraging, but we should also probably realize you can't just gun down protesters these days, the fact the military is not gunning them down does not necessarily mean failure.

Sky News reporting Turkish state television TRT now back on the air.

It looks like this coup does have serious force, but doesn't have the unified support of the entire Turkish Armed Forces.

It is confusing, but if this was really just a small part of the army, wouldn't it have been squashed by the rest of the military?
