Of course, everyone should be well aware the "elites" don't play by the rules.

RE: UK Referendum on EU Membership (Brexit) Thread
One argument that I've seen very little coverage, relatively speaking, is the issue of democracy, which is clearly under threat from the EU.

Junker et al have awarded themselves staggering powers to undermine democratically elected governments. Jean Claude Juncker has made it clear, recently (concerning the Austrian vote) that any country which elects a right of centre populist party will lose their voting rights in the EU, and perhaps punished with sanctions (look at the sanctions currently being applied to Poland, for example). This all stemmed from the abuse of power visited upon the Greeks for daring to vote in Syriza.

I was looking for the quotes to back this up, and came across this Breitbart article, which is saying much the same thing.

You guys hoping for Brexit are going to be upset come Friday morning. There is too little to sway the average person apart from economics and migration and those two issues are easily mis-understood.

Can't say I actually expect the EU & No. 10 to abide by the publics choice.
Whether it's obfuscation, manufactured crisis & so forth, I doubt #Leave will win in the long run.

Hell for all we know, the EU & No. 10 may want #Leave to 'work' at first,
so they can generate some other crisis or scheme to further some other nefarious plot.

This is a very good logical position from the Left on the EU. This EU (conceived by the US not Europeans) as a well structured imperialist force needs to be broken down.

http://www.counterfire.org/articles/opin...-for-lexit

Quote:The EU triggered the Yugoslav Civil War: Contrary to the myth that the EU has preserved peace in Europe since WW2, the rapid recognition of Slovenia and Croatia as independent states, separate from the former Yugoslavia, played a decisive role in upsetting a delicate diplomatic situation in 1992 and ultimately plunging the region into the worst conflict the continent has known since 1945.

Add in Libya and Syria which triggered the refugee crisis and of course Ukraine.

Quote:In the wake of the Ukraine crisis above (triggered by the EU) Jean Claude Juncker,Commission President stated:

With its own army, Europe could react more credibly to the threat to peace in a member state or in a neighbouring state. One wouldn't have a European army to deploy it immediately. But a common European army would convey a clear message to Russia that we are serious about defending our European values.

Time to slay this monster. Vote #Brexit

With leftists its clear they mean "democracy for me, and not for thee". Democracy is great when people vote the way they want, but as soon as they don't, it's "populism" and "ignorant masses being whipped up by demagoguery and (fill in the blank) -phobia."

If only you knew how bad things really are.

I wonder if the Queen would step in if Number 10 refused to honour the result of the referendum if 'leave' got a majority? It would be a bit of a constitutional crisis, but she would have every right to do so.

I'm surprised the polls are showing it so close. My anecdotal findings from asking around family, friends and work colleagues is about 90% Remain v 10% Leave.

I've tried persuading some waverers to switch to Leave and have failed.

I'm predicting a comfortable victory for Remain (~ 60:40).

Not to mention the rain is concentrated in southeast England - meaning London - meaning the one major area in England that will vote to Remain. Sounds like it helps rather than hurts Leave b/c people voting Leave are more motivated to go out and vote.

But people voting to leave are more invested in the cause and more likely to cast their vote despite the weather. And don't forget about the turnout. This violent electrical storm that erupted on Britain is fitting like if it was the outward manifestation of the storm that is raging inside of it, to finally be free of the nightmarish claws of the EU.

None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

RE: UK Referendum on EU Membership (Brexit) Thread
A nice article from a while back:

Quote:With public polls turning mixed, it pays to take a look at the math and the extent to which turnout could be the deciding factor in the June 23 referendum. Since we started our tracking poll in March, asking the question, Do you expect the June 23 Brexit referendum result to be the UK leaving or staying in the EU?, the results have been lopsided in expecting a Brexit outcome (see latest results below).

One explanation, as suggested by the feedback we receive from our poll participants, is that the Leave side appears to be more passionate and committed in its convictions. This suggests the Leave side will be more likely to cast a vote if our findings carry over to the referendum.

Do the Math!

In this theoretical example, I will explore why public polls should not be taken at face value as potential turnout needs to be factored in. For example. let’s assume the split in public polls is 50-50 and the assumption is that 80% of those favoring Leave will vote in the referendum. The Remain side would then need to at least match the 80% turnout to make the 50-50 public polls an accurate assessment of the potential vote. However, what happens if the turnout on one side (e.g. Remain) is below that of the opposition.

Example:

Assuming 80% turnout for Leave

If the turnout for Remain is 75%, it would mean that the public poll would need to show Remain in the lead by 53.33%-46.67% to be a 50-50 split in real terms due to the lower turnout for that side.

While this is just a theoretical example, it shows the importance of turning out the vote. Of course there are other factors besides commitment and passion that can influence turnout, such as weather, grass roots efforts to turn out the vote and what public polls show beforehand as a wide lead by one side or the other can either discourage the losing side not to vote or give less incentive to an over confident winning side to cast a ballot. The closer the polls going into the referendum, the more likely the more committed side will vote.

As I have said many times, we do not have a stake in this election but from the feedback we have received, it is the Leave side that appears to have more passion as can be seen by comments from two of our participants:

The result will be decided by those who will actually vote and the outers are more motivated and more likely to vote than the inners.

What I also find interesting is those of us who want out will vote at all costs, however some of the IN voters said it may depend on the weather!!! If it's raining they won't bother to vote. Amazing! So they are not too interested in staying in. I will vote out if I need to swim to the voting booth!

Yesterday Farage said: 'leave supporters will crawl over broken glass to get to the polling station to vote out of the EU'. Let's see.

Generally, bad weather favors right wing voters. The reason for this is interestingly enough rarely stated but Obvious to any RVFer who's dealt with these people.

Quote:[1975] Labour's Peter Shore on Project Fear - "The message that comes out is fear, fear, fear"

An amazing speech against 1975's Project Fear and against all the corporations who wanted into the EEC -many of which didn't survive it (British Leyland for example).

This is what a speech was like when a Labour Party member used to speak on behalf of labour as opposed to echoing the threats of Soros, NATO, the IMF and crass, monied celebrities before denouncing dissenters as "racist, Nazi and xenophobic". Its leader Jeremy Corbyn is a liar to pretend that he supports the EU when his political career record suggests that he doesn't.

And Cameron has clearly lied about Turkey. It will join and our new borders will be along Syria and Iraq.

Europe, the tribute state of Turkey to the tune of €3bn per year, begins negations with the Sultan to open the gates next week. Cameron to be declared 'Vizier'.

This is it gentlemen.

I'll be staying up tonight following the election from Swedish soil. Hoping for UK independence.

If the statistical predictions mentioned above are true and cuckish Remainers refrain from voting due to the bloody weather, then the gods are truly with us.

Wishing a victorious referendum day for our UK brothers.

Just voted, for all the good I think it will do.

I would be astonished if anyone abstains from voting due to the weather. It's not due to be bad today and this issue is far too big to let a downpour put anyone off.

RE: UK Referendum on EU Membership (Brexit) Thread
Excuse the copy and paste from my post in the EMC thread. If you frequent it already you can skip it as I've added nothing.

So as a native brit today is supposed to be a really important day. A Swedish ex FWB who is also Jewish and left leaning, pro-socialism etc (go figure) asked me if I would choose remain or leave.

I'll omit the details, but essentially I told her that while it has an element of Sadism, I would like to leave simply on the basis that sometimes it's good to have a change from the status quo and see what results from it.

And that I can rest easy in having this sadistic mindset because nothing will happen. Either there will be a majority remain, or someone in the background will ensure there is a majority vote when the stats are published. That's how much faith I have in the system.

Let's see how farcical the result and the inevitable fallout becomes.

And by the way, she insisted that the only ones voting leave were racists. And used the fact that lower class + upper-class demographic as being majority Leavers to certify that claim.

My response was simply "considering the middle-class are mostly left-leaning (I omitted SJW's) it's no surprise that demographic is the one choosing Remain.

There was no point in debating why lower classes and upper classes are not immediately racist and also that voting Leave is not racist. We already debated about Trump and that went nowhere.
