(10-13-2015 11:45 PM)Speculation Wrote:  To be fair she started the project before /r/TheRedPill blew up on reddit, back when the manosphere only had 3 real branches; MGTOW, MRA and PUA.

Also, the AVoiceForMen MRA site had 'Take the Red Pill' as its site motto for years.

These days 'Red Pillers' have a fairly well defined ideology that differs from the other branches of the manosphere, so there's some confusion on why the doco is called The Red Pill when its about MRAs.

You can see the MRAs getting concerned at being equated with Red Pillers below:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comm...k_preview/

I don't cut her any slack on that. I've never been on reddit but I still found enough to be able to differentiate MRA from "Red Pill". This is supposed to be her work- no, her art and she gets that detail wrong?

The New York Times didn't think much of her buttfucker parents documentary:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/14/movies....html?_r=0

Quote:The kids are adorable, their two dads effortlessly likable and the love that binds them all inarguable. Yet Cassie Jaye’s squishy documentary, “The Right to Love: An American Family,” tries the patience, and not just because of its regrettably saccharine soundtrack. Any film this committed to arguing in favor of same-sex marriage needs at least as much spine as heart.

Quote:Dredging up the debates over Proposition 8, encapsulated in old news segments and familiar clips from cable gabfests, fails to impart new information or a sense of purpose.

Arrows of lucidity — like Rachel Maddow’s insisting that rights exist independently of the whims of a majority — are few and far between, and the crucial legal void between marriage and civil unions is never addressed.

Coming upon opportunities for depth or nuance, Ms. Jaye seems unsure how to proceed.

So much for the single IMDB review by "anonymous" about Jaye (it's an assumed name, by the way) which says her films "have been praised for their objectivity and unbiased nature".

Hollywood Reporter also thought the documentary was standard superficial shit:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/...iew-370733

Quote:The hot-button issue of gay marriage is the subject of Cassie Jaye’s documentary that puts a personal light on the debate via an extended profile of a married gay couple and their two adopted children. But while The Right to Love: An American Family certainly means well, it contains nothing particularly illuminating in its chronicling of the battle over California’s controversial Proposition 8 which takes up a good chunk of its running time.

So, yeah. Don't expect either an unbiased point of view or an intelligent treatment of the subject.

I think she's going to aim for what she thinks is unbiased coverage, because she strikes me as an idealistic journalist trying to shed light on an underdog movement, and losers like Paul Elam may even like it, but the end result is going to be nauseating to any rvfer. Journalists always fuck up plenty whenever you consult anybody who knows anything and this situation will be no different.

Which side are you on?
You will have to wait to see the feature film to know the conclusion that the filmmaker comes to, but what we can tell you is that the filmmaker does come to a conclusion; however, it doesn’t mean that the filmmaker’s conclusion will be the viewers’ conclusion.

Let me guess:
"Men do have problems, but men's problems are caused by teh patriarkee and they can be solved by men being feminists, crying more, and having low T."

What's the over/under on this being her actual conclusion?

RE: Feminist Filmmaker (ha) Starts Kickstarter For Documentary on MRM
Personally I think this "documentary" illustrates a wider point: there is unlikely to be a single moment or single media release which brings the manosphere into the mainstream. It is going to take a generation of quiet work to change things in the West, combined with some periods of extreme financial or economic hardship during which it will become apparent that luxury, disturbed viewpoints like fourth wave feminism are not sustainable - look up the ROK article about the fate of the flappers about this.

The manosphere in one sense has been a little like Gamergate. While Roosh is an obvious target of late, and there are prominent voices in it, the movement as a whole is generally decentralised. It doesn't have one figurehead or one diktat telling men exactly what to do or what to believe. Better yet, you can't kill it by taking down one website or even blocking its voice on a corpulent website like Reddit.

That's the great disadvantage feminism now suffers. It is, basically, the institution. It is the Establishment. It tries to convert, church-like, through a series of official pronouncements and daily sermons delivered through the MSM. Its problem being, throughout every generation since roughly 1930 or so, the young have rebelled against the establishment or distrusted what it has to say. We have also been ably assisted by feminism own-goals, too: in its hellbent desire to turn gender into a sexless desert, it's also managed to remove any societal impulse or expectation on men to partner up with women for life or indeed to have children. This is an own-goal for feminism because, whether women like it or not, they can't compete with men physically or mentally, and there is a rising question among men today: what exactly does a woman in my life on a continuing basis give me? What is my incentive to wife up?

As Malcolm Gladwell reminds us: when it comes to David and Goliath battles, David wins when he refuses to fight on the opponent's terms, when he dictates the pace of battle, when he doesn't "fight fair". The MSM is feminism's. No real problem. People, and men in particular, are turning away from the MSM for their information. They recognise the sad truth: that the media as a whole has descended to a daily sensationalist scrabble for something that bathes the female amydgala in a dose of sweet or sour for more than five minutes.

The manosphere has succeeded because it's fought a guerrilla war: it has slowly collected men by simple and logical presentation of arguments and pointing out the spin and lies feminism relies on for some of its shibboleths. It does its work quietly and thoroughly, by sites like this, and -- to a lesser extent -- by guys like Roosh opting to go in harm's way into cesspits like Toronto.

Even if The Red Pill The Movie turns out to be a hatchet job, it won't change the result. Gamergate alone proves that the cultural shift is on the way. If Trump wins the Presidency -- again a guy who does not fight on his opponents' terms and is crushing it as a result -- it'll be apparent.

That said, do not confuse this with a likelihood that radical feminism will go down without a fight. The historical record tells us that all totalitarian movements in history do not give up their grip on power without a lot of blood being shed and without trying to tear down the whole place as they fall.

Frankly I don't think the best thing to come out of docos like this will be a change in societal values towards addressing men's issues.

What I think will happen though is creating greater awareness of the hypocrisy of feminism. Feminists are too mired in their ideology and lack the empathy to understand how men will view arguments like 'Yes men may suicide much more than women, but that isn't a real issue like sexual harrassment'.

Even the most indoctrinated young man who lives and breathes progressivism will take pause at blatant examples of 'equality' being thrown out in the face of gynocentric advantage as long as its dumbed down enough.

So society won't change, but docos like this might push more guys into their own personal epiphanies.

I'm still skeptical about the editing. Any documentary kick starter will be unbiased to pool as much money from as many sources as possible.

If I was to guess: The finished product will have attempted to give an 'unbiased viewpoint' by including red pill truths but they will be selectively picked apart by 'popular' and irrational feminist thought.

Having had some involvement in the film industry - Presenting a negative feminist dialogue is more or less career suicide.

I will be very pleasantly surprised if this gets pulled off in a truly impartial light.

I'm skeptical about this film but I think it will be 'good' publicity for the MRMs no matter how this shakes out. I think her take-away, biased slant will be a more palatable version of "men need more feminism".

No way I'm going to contribute financially to this piece but I predict she'll push forward despite not reaching her goal of 100k.

Let's examine what will happen. If it's a fair representation of the movement, in which case it gets buried and no one will ever learn of it. At best there's a few mentions in a back channel Youtube alt media outlet. Or it does turn out to be a yellow hack piece, in which case it will get all the publicity the filmmaker wants.

There is no scenario in which we come out as the winner, so from a game theory perspective I would be happy to see it never get made. These people are too predictable.

As it is, she's not raising money fast enough to meet the 30-day deadline.

$97,000 / 30 days = a bit over $3,200 a day. As of now she's only raised $12,717 over six (~$2,100 per day.)

Early days, still, but it seems that this likely won't be going anywhere.

That pic is annoying. Feminists hate to be objectified and the picture screams "look at my nice squeezable titties." Which I, of course, would happily do Big Grin but her face...ugh. Remember that is her best angle.

RE: Feminist Filmmaker (ha) Starts Kickstarter For Documentary on MRM
New article on Breitbart by Milo
http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2...s-at-risk/
Quote:‘The Red Pill’ Filmmaker Started to Doubt Her Feminist Beliefs… Now Her Movie Is at Risk

There is a documentary film on gender currently running a Kickstarter campaign that feminism would prefer never sees the light of day. You may be imagining some amateur film made by buffoons bumbling their way through a hit piece on feminism, but you’d be well off the mark. The film is The Red Pill, by self-professed feminist Cassie Jaye.

Jaye has some heavy-duty credentials: she won the 2010 “best documentary” award at the Cannes film festival with her film Daddy I Do and sympathetically covered gay marriage in a second well-received documentary, The Right to Love: An American Family.

Jaye describes her latest project, The Red Pill, as “a fly-on-the-wall film about men’s rights activists.” But, she says, at some point during filming the process morphed into her journey through ideologies opposing feminism. What makes the film unique is that it will document her “chipping away at long held beliefs, as my worldview changed within the first month,” a process captured, she says, through video diaries which will be included in the film.

The name of the movie is internet slang, taken from the Matrix franchise. It describes the process of “waking up” and accepting reality, even if it is hard to do, or you are presented with facts in direct opposition to closely-held beliefs. Jaye intends her movie to include a “where am I now” section to discuss how the film-making process has changed her personally.

The underlying suggestion in all of this, of course, is that she has come to sympathise with the men’s movement and jettisoned a lot of received feminist wisdom.

As a result, Jaye has seen her funding dry up. One observer told Breitbart that grants and funding have been withdrawn and institutional support revoked.

Jaye is concerned about funding the film with angel investors, who she says often want creative control: “We weren’t finding executive producers who wanted to take a balanced approach, we found people who wanted to make a feminist film.”

The second option was funding via grants. Jaye says, “I started to see the bias towards women’s films and against men’s. There are no categories for men’s films though there are several for women and minorities. I submitted the film to human rights categories, and was rejected by all of them.”

According to Jaye, her sincerely-held opinions on the men’s rights movement have made her movie almost unfundable and support has dried up: “Films that support one side and act as propaganda do better than those that try to have an honest look. I won’t be getting support from feminists. They want a hit piece and I won’t do that. ”

Jaye also ran into stumbling blocks during production. “I started to invite feminists to be interviewed for the film, making up about 25 per cent of the interviews scheduled,” she explains. “We had a popular feminist author who was scheduled to be in the film. After we drove down to Los Angeles, she cancelled the night before claiming she felt ‘unsafe.’”

Jaye also had a paid animator drop out of the project because he didn’t want to be part of a project that sympathised with the men’s rights movement.

The most telling evidence that she plans to produce a balanced documentary using facts to show both sides of the argument is her experience with interns: “I’ve also had interns, including a gender studies major. One girl in particular had a lot of crying attacks and emotional experiences. She claimed everything I was showing her was triggering her.”

Several of the interviewees filmed for the movie are hopeful that Jaye will produce a fair presentation. Paul Elam from men’s rights organisation A Voice for Men told Breitbart: “I think she is on the up and up about making a fair film. A bit of anecdotal evidence for that is her lack of funding. I have been in communication with her for some time and I find her version of things, that outraged feminists have abandoned her, credible and consistent.

“It makes sense to me that feminists would be pissed at her for giving people like me a platform,” he said. “Her previous two films took on controversial subjects and were done objectively. I don’t see anything to indicate that she is changing that course for this movie, but I also know that she is young and has never faced anywhere near this sort of pressure or social ostracism.”

Fellow interviewee Dean Esmay agrees: “Cassie’s film will not see the light of day without substantial anti-establishment support. I expect feminists to do everything possible to shun her and my observation was that she was being ‘Mean Girl’d’.”

“This is a talented woman with two very well made and well received professional documentaries under her belt. How could they not support her even if parts of this might make them uncomfortable?” he questioned. “But honestly they’re going to have to be shamed into that, they absolutely will not support the film otherwise. I firmly predict that even if she gets the funding there will be efforts to sabotage her in the indie documentary distribution chain. I would almost guarantee it.”

Based on her fundraising problems, Jaye says she realised, “There was no way to finish the film without a Kickstarter campaign,” a process she says she has found fascinating. She has found resistance, however: “People that are mistrustful and don’t know the message of the film, that this will be a balanced look at the issues.”

Another source of resistance, she says, are, “People who don’t know anything about the men’s rights movement. The most common reaction amongst feminists is, ‘why are you giving them a platform to speak?’ I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve heard that. Yet there are documentaries about the Westboro Baptist Church and about skinheads, yet they are so fearful of this topic, and I’ve started to figure out why.”

According to Jaye, without a successful funding campaign the film might not be made at all. “This film has been a journey that didn’t happen overnight. I hate the idea of it being shelved and collecting dust,” she says, adding that if it were still made, it would take 3-5 years without funding, after already being in the works for two and a half. The Red Pill campaign is currently at $26,500 against a $97,000 target, and will accept pledges through November 11.

Some of you guys already called it, that there would be a portion on 'her journey'

It doesn't look like this documentary will go ahead. It constitutes thoughtcrime. It kind of reminds me a little of the resistance book from 1984.

I'm in two minds about making a contribution. On one hand, it would be cool to see something like this get out, if only to wake some people up. Then on the other, while there is some alignment, this forum's 'neo-masculine' perspective is at odds with Elam's stance. The result would be I'd start talking about neo-masculine topics or anything about self improvement, I'd get lumped in, "oh, so you're like that old guy/chubby neckbearded guy with the pony tail in that Red Pill documentary" since the lines are already blurred.

Why wasn't Roosh invited to take part in this film?
At the very least, a segment on Roosh and everything he went through with his world tour this year is paramount.

Her audience must also be introduced to hypergamy and how western media/culture actively encourages & celebrates when women surrender to hedonistic behaviors and patterns of thought, and finally how feminists reinforce it under the guises of empowerment and independence. She comes close to it in the trailer when they talk about divorce rape and false rape accusations but doesn't actually define it as anything in particular. The sad contradiction of Belle Knox, the shameful fiction of Mattress Girl, and the utter destruction of Rolling Stone's credibility are just a few cases that come to mind.

Edit: Come to think of it, an entire documentary could be made on the matter. 'Hypergamy' should be her next film

They're triggered because they know we're right.

They're truly afraid of us.

My opinion does not change. Do not support. The fact she does not have the guts to openly say on her kickstarter page that her opinions changed to question feminist shibboleths is a potent indicator of a lack of fearlessness in the documentary as well.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this, but MikeCF is backing every donation up to ten grand.

That might explain some of the increased funding.

Could it be possible that she concealed the result of her questioning feminist beliefs in an effort to make funding it more palatable to the blue-pill masses?

Or maybe she just doesn't want to reveal the ending of the movie?

Or is she trolling the manosphere?

I honestly don't pretend to know the answers to the questions above. But with Milo and MikeCF backing it, perhaps there is something to it. At the least, those guys do a pretty good job trolling feminists!

EDIT: I pledged $25 (which only gets collected if it gets fully funded). Call it a leap of faith, on the backs of Milo and MikeCF.

No, we do not need to experience some reformed feminist's "journey of self-actualization" as she realizes that most of her ideas are based on bullshit.

I do not wish to see some doe-eyed minx smile at the camera and tell us what we already know.

This documentary to me looks like nothing but female attention-whoring in stealth form. It's disguised as some sort of sympathy piece for men--as if men need her pity--but the reality is that this is just a rancid attempt to make a buck off the mood of the times.

We don't permit women to define our struggles for us. We tell them ourselves.

We don't prostitute ourselves for the pity or sympathy of attention-whores. And we absolutely should not be collaborating with them or hyping their projects.

Only by taking this uncompromising stance will anything of value ever be achieved. The revolt must come from within, from us. Not from them. The only way forward is through the sweat of our own brows, and the honest heart imbued with zeal.

There is no other way.

Achievement comes through struggle. Our own struggle. Women do not speak for us, and to help empower her megaphone is making the same mistake that men have been making for decades.

No compromise, no collaboration. Permitting the message to be filtered through a female lens guarantees its conformity to the existing doctrinal requirements.

RE: Feminist Filmmaker (ha) Starts Kickstarter For Documentary on MRM
That woman is attractive and that is why she is sympathetic to the cause. Attractive girls are generally more sympathetic to men's pain because no one is mean to them growing up (except other girls). She identified as feminist because in college and early in post college life that was what girls like her did. She is not a slut walk, consent obsessed, gender queer angry at the world feminist because attractive desirable men have been her boyfriend her whole life, she has been cute since she was 11 and everybody told her so, and everybody has always been kind. That chick has a boyfriend, has always had a boyfriend and has had no cruel realities (until now with her funding, and she is about to get over on that) like an ugly fat tattooed up feminist has to deal with daily(like being ugly and "changing" beauty standards, healthy at any size). Life on easy mode makes a kind woman.
