Men may never truly get over a relationship break-up, says study
Yeah, well, whatever; maybe some fools don't. But the writer does a good job of plugging false logic for divorce statistics:
Quote:...But men are more “competitive” in their approach, meaning the loss of a woman they see as a good catch could be deeply felt for months or even years.

"The man will likely feel the loss deeply and for a very long period of time as it sinks in that he must start competing all over again to replace what he has lost - or worse still, come to the realisation that the loss is irreplaceable," says Morris.

And because women have more to loose by choosing the wrong partner, they are also more likely to pull the plug on a relationship – with 70% of divorces in the US filed by women.

So when a break-up next occurs - as it will three times on average for US and UK adults, with at least one relationship counting as a significant loss - perhaps spare a thought for which party to side with.

Eh? They have more to lose, so they're more likely to pull the plug? With that kind of logic no wonder there's so few women in math and computer science.

It is logical that they plug the plug, if they choose badly they loose more staying than leaving.

Drive-by journalism. Written to get Web clicks, not to make any substantial points.

How do we know? Because no one could be bothered to proofread it. The word underlined below is supposed to be "lose," not "loose"...the latter of which connotes screws that need to be tightened or some such thing.

Or maybe it's a Freudian slip and the writer is unwittingly saying today's women are "loose women."

I don't lose a wink of sleep over women who broke up with me.

On the other hand, women I break up with (typically, devoted but flawed) will sometimes haunt me 2-3 years down the road. Seller's remorse.

RE: Men may never truly get over a relationship break-up, says study
Every single woman from my past looks worse today than when I was with them, while I look exactly the same or better, even if it was 10 years ago.

Every single one I have run into since is with a man inferior to me, and I see the longing in her eyes, the regret.

I do not miss women from my past. They are the past for a reason.

Bullshit article! The betas that allow their feelings to overwhelm their rationality need to grow a pair and just not get attached very much in the first place. Every relationship should have the woman be far more emotionally attached than the man. That way if the relation ship finishes the man will be able to move on quickly, game and bang more chicks.

That's awful advice.

I had a 4-year LTR with a beautiful, young, traditional girlfriend (and virgin) who did everything for me - cooked, cleaned, even asked other girls for threesomes on nights out just to keep my interest. Perfect girlfriend a man could have in retrospect. I broke up with her shortly after joining this forum, because I dove head-first into the hedonistic, anti-marriage, anti-traditional bitterness so many guys with low notch counts seem to have. I was convinced by many posts here that marriage is evil, commitment is evil, all women are evil - and this couldn't be farther from the truth.

Of the last 10 dates I've been on, 9 have put out only hours after meeting. As many seasoned guys here can probably attest, life now is an endless search through a slut-filled rubbish heap for girls with even the slightest traces of normalcy and moral decency. And you're suggesting that the solution is to just stick my dick in more sluts? That mindless hedonism is the solution to the emptiness men feel when they're unwilling to connect with a woman beyond no-strings-attached sex?

Being "alpha" is a matter of managing your own expectations, achieving your maximum value as a man, and giving girls the impression you don't care. I'm telling you personally, if you live your life without risking emotional attachment with women, you're going to be very bitter, very lonely, and end up sulking in regret. Without emotional risk, there's no reward. I learned that the hard way.

Improve yourself, stop chasing sluts, and keep an eye on the big picture. Breakups are natural, and they can hurt like a bitch. Admitting that doesn't make you any less of a man. The trick to happiness isn't in writing off future relationships or attachment as a result, but instead, getting back on your feet and moving forward.

I've had a similar experience, girls I've been with since the girl I actually was really close too aren't the same. It's OK though. I'll find another one, and I'm quite young.

Great potst mang. Sums up how I feel to. Their are women who are worth your time. Never been with one who was in the USA though.

RE: Men may never truly get over a relationship break-up, says study
I actually think that the article is on the right track. Women take break ups much better than men do, and I think that this is because:

1) For the vast majority of human history, whenever one tribe would conquer another, the men of the victorious tribe would kill off the remaining men and impregnate the women. Of course, this meant that women were prone to suddenly losing their attachments to men and subsequently being forced to quickly make new ones. Women evolved psychological mechanisms to minimise emotional trauma caused by the sudden loss of men they were attached to.

2) The current sexual marketplace, especially in developed Western nations, is completely in favour of women. Women are well aware that they can find a new boyfriend/guy to fuck/emotional tampon in a matter of minutes, and chances are that he will be a high quality man as well.

As this piece correctly pointed out, men have to compete for women. When you have put a lot of effort, resources and time into obtaining something, it can be very traumatic losing it.

True, but I think only your first. Now I'm much meaner. A cute girl just left me and I honestly could care less. I think it's only true with a very long time girlfriend or if it's the first girl you really liked.

I agree 100% with 1), but only 50% of 2) Blush
Sometimes when I try to talk red pill stuff with women, I get surprising amounts of agreement on subjects like divorce rape, that there is no glass ceiling, that men are treated as being more disposable etc. - but I get no agreement at all on the subject of women having it easier in the sexual marketplace - I even get fierce resistance to the idea.

The reason is what's often talked about in red pill forums: most guys are invisible to women - while they can have 80% of guys at the snap of a finger, they don't count these men as options. They only look at the really interesting men, and it's not so easy for an average woman to get one - possible yes, but not easier than it is for a man to get a girlfriend. Even just for sex, high quality men just won't be available. I only know the situation in Germany, but what I see is: high quality men are almost always in a relationship, and 95% of them don't want to betray their girlfriend.

Of course this is a misperception by women - the sexual marketplace is in their favour - but I don't see them being aware of their possibilities at all.

Quote:...
To all the girls I've loved before
Who traveled in and out my door
I'm glad they came along
I dedicate this song
To all the girls I've loved before

To all the girls I once caressed
And may I say I've held the best
For helping me to grow
I owe a lot I know
To all the girls I've loved before
...

There's a great scene from the movie The Spirit where the womanizing hero almost dies, and as his life flashes before his eyes, he sees the dozens of women he's known and loved.

The same goes for me. I love them all, in all their imperfections. I've grown in a different way from each and every one of them.....ignoring a few of the college blackouts Laugh

Granted, I guarantee you no one in the OP study feels the way I do, as with most of the people in this thread, but I can certainly understand it. Just in a different way.

Keeping in mind that all women are solipsistic, every woman in the history of the world would like to believe that their ex-boyfriend or ex-husband will never get over the break-up. Not a chance, since they were dumped by such goddesses / special unique snowflakes...

Honestly, you're always going to dwell on the last perceived best thing that you had. Women and men alike. The difference being that new options come long to women a lot easier and more frequently.

We all know that virgins are less likely to divorce, we've all probably seen this graphic showing that with more sexual partners in a woman's past, the more likely she is to divorce:

After you have pair bonded, broken that bond, bonded again, broken that bond, well, you simply can't pair-bond as strongly.

I remember my first "girlfriend". She was nothing special in retrospect, she was cute but I've been with much cuter girls. Her personality was ok but I've been with nicer girls too. She was overall a perfectly fine girl but nothing to get excited about.

However I also remember my emotions at that time, being in high school, developing a strong crush on the girl, pursuing her, eventually getting her to agree to go out with me, to be my girlfriend, our first kiss etc.

All those feelings were something I literally have never felt again. It isn't that she was anything special, just the first girl I tried to pair bond with and did.

After we broke up, I was of course bummed and down in the dumps for a while.

But it was a good learning experience, and after that, I never took anything so hard again, whether I dumped a girl or she didn't want to keep seeing me, it rolls off me like water now.

If we lived in a different time, and you were likely to meet a girl, marry her and have kids with her, and not sleep around, any of us might be with our high school sweethearts. We wouldn't be the stone-cold players we are now, we might tenderly love these women, having "silly" romantic notions in our head, feeling a love in our heart that chemically is stronger than any we could feel now.

Now any of us can make a rational decision to start a family with a woman who is attractive and has other positive personality traits. But there won't ever be anything like your first girlfriend, your first kiss, etc. Pair bonding is just stronger the first time you do it.

RE: Men may never truly get over a relationship break-up, says study
Men have deeper emotions that women, which what makes them stronger. As they have to master them or at least utilise them in a way which can push you towards freedom. Whatever that pursuit may be, more money, status, success etc. The irony of this is that once you start doing the right thing, and go through the stages of becoming a master. You will face the risk of burning yourself out through your own fire of desire and essentially become a tyrant.

There is no denying it, emotional attachment is a risk but it is a blessing that you don't want to miss out on. Its part of life, as Elliot Hulse says; you need to cultivate the lover side of you. Whether this means, appreciating having sex with a beautiful women, smoking a good cigar; listening to real decent music.

From personal experiences and what I have seen second hand. Women are very good at creating the illusion that they are beautiful, fun going and in control of their lives. But if a strong man has been in their life and left, even if it has been by their own whim. They will be deeply effected and deteriorate somewhat. Perhaps the absence of that masculine presence, leads to them trying to cultivate those qualities within themselves. Thus making themselves less feminine and attractive.
