Linux and Atlantic are having success without speaking Spanish. This challenges a longstanding idea on this board that Spanish in necessary to do well in Colombia. I think learning Spanish at least at a basic level can improve the overall experience, but these guys are showing that it isn't as strong as a factor as once believed in terms of success with girls.

I wouldn't try to draw too much general truth from Linux and Atlantic's experiences, as they are related to them as individuals.

What you say is only partially true in my opinion. There are many factors involved in successful game. If one factor is weak, you can compensate for it by being strong in other factors.

Strong Spanish is absolutely a huge plus for anyone's game when in Spanish speaking countries.

Is it necessary to get laid? No, of course not. The only two things you truly need to get laid are a dick and a heartbeat.

That said, Linux and Atlantic obviously have other things going for them that compensate for their lack of Spanish.

In general in Latin America (and especially in the Andean countries) you get a huge boost from being a white American or European. This is a legacy of the colonial system where race and your percentage of white blood determined your social status. The top category were "peninsulares," those of pure Spanish blood born in Spain. The next category down was full European blood but born in the new world. The next category down was mestizo, part native and part European. At the bottom of the heap were the natives. There are hot ass mestizo and native Colombianas that white middle/upper class Colombian men won't touch because of classism and racism...which leaves a huge door open for people without those same prejudices. It is also a big deal/status thing for a darker colored girl to get with a white man.

To explain it a different way, go to Spain where no one cares that you're white, and see how well gaming without Spanish works. Much different, you would need to be extremely strong/nearly unique in other areas to pull that off.

In summary, if you are a white European or American, have some very strong game points (dress, charisma, muscular physique, money, etc), then you might potentially do very well without Spanish in Colombia.

Met this girl off Colombiancupid. I had been trying all week to get her over but she was hesitant. She was a little thick, like I like them. I saw her standing by one of those kiosk things selling skin cream. I walked up said "hola" "hello" "eres bonita" or "you are beautiful" , and "tienes whatsapp?" or "Do you have whatsapp". That's pretty much most of the Spanish I know. It worked like a charm. I don't overcomplicated things. I don't enjoy smalltalk so I avoid it.

She was good girl and I might be taking her to Santa Marta in the future but I'm not sure yet.

The thing on the plane with the girl died off. She wanted me to visit her in her city but she lives in a city called "Buenventura". From what Scotian was telling me, it's not a place a white guy wants to end up if he wants to stay alive. It's unfortunate because she was pretty hot.

Despite the fact that Buenaventura is the most dangerous city in the country and the drug gangs are chopping people up and dumping their dismembered bodies all over the place, its actually one of my favourite places in the country. Its a dirty, run down grimy ass port city but I like it, so long as you stay in the zona rosa, you'll be fine, being a port city, they get a lot of foreign merchant seamen coming off of boats from all over the world, lots of Filipinos. The city is about 85% black, so if you're into the afro-Colombianas then its a good place to be, the people are very friendly there and the girls are definitely approachable and into meeting foreign men. There isn't too much to do in the city other than party at the clubs in the zona rosa (which aren't anything special) and eat the delicious seafood there (I recommend the cazuela de mariscos) but you can take a boat to these outlying bays about an hour away called Juanchaco and Larilleros, the latter being the better one. Buenaventura is a three hour, 25.000 peso bus ride from Cali, if you go, I recommend staying in the city on Friday and Saturday to party and meet girls, then spending two days on the beaches relaxing, surfing, fishing, etc. The Pacific side of Colombia is off the beaten path, undeveloped and very poor but its a really interesting place with super friendly people, great landscapes and delicious food, I recommend it.

Scotian, thanks very much for the heads up on Buenaventura. It sounds like a sort of mini pussy paradise, if you are into Afro-Colombianas. Besides which, it just sounds like my kind of city generally - dirty and unpretentious, with a surfeit of opportunity for the traveling man of business and enterprise.

There are still lots of places in Colombia that I need to check out. Bucaramanga for its university students. Manizales for the olive-skinned beauties, who perhaps have not yet been corrupted by the coming Western nightmare. Pereira for its coffee. I'd like to check out Cucuta again. Has anyone even written about any part of the southeast part of Colombia? The jungle, I mean - where the drugs are, where the media does not report, where you're likely to be kidnapped. (Props to any guy who can pull out a quality trip report on SE Colombia - the jungle.)

LINUX, how is the Spanish coming along? If you're interested, I can hook you up with a bilingual teacher for one-on-one lessons, she charges reasonable prices and according to RVF member getdownonit, she gives a great blow job. Yeah man. I'd be interested in the salsa lessons. I'm on lesson 16 in Fluenz right now. I'm learning more and more everyday. I can carry on a conversation if it's about sex. Yes, I do. But I am in the process of shifting away from it because it is a waste of time and not enjoyable to me. I never use the internet in the United States, I do strictly night game and have great success.
