@ Traveller. Can you recommend a way to find appartments? I was not impressed by what I saw, in the center, @ Airbnb for around 500/600USD though. Are there any Facebook groups with foreigners living in the city? I like to have at least 2/3 good expat friends to hangout with when I go alone in another city though. Oh, and do you think I shall expect the city to be a bit ''empty'' because of the summer vacations?

I was also considering the idea going to Kharkov for a longer stint. It is a great city to party but besides that there is not really much more to do. What I would miss most there I guess it the lack of entertaining foreigners. I have a really great social circle in Kiev now containing forum members, embassy guys and all kind of other weird foreigners who make Kiev always my number one choice. I would not be too worried that the city gets empty. Only the students will leave but all regular people do not have money to go on vacation anyways. But what is a bit of a disadvantage is that there is no real beach club scene like you would have in Kiev or Odessa (Olmeca, Bora Bora, Ibiza etc).

As for the exotic factor don't count on that at all. People in all major Ukrainian cities are used to foreigners now but compared to countries like Poland it can still be an advantage. The only problem I see is your limited budget. This might not give you access to the real stunners but still there is nothing wrong with dating some cute Ukrainian 7s.

As for apartments. Check out the apartments on Booking.com. I always stay in a really nice apartment right opposite the University metro station. The apartment is only €20 a night for a short term rental. So I am sure if you make an offline deal you could get a much better price for a long term rental.

Absolutely agree.

Although I would say the budget(1.3k usd) he has is about right for Kharkiv, you don't need to blow loads of money on the top girls, very much depends what he looks like, how he dresses and carries himself.

Many guys have a rose tinted view of Kharkiv, but they are chiefly weekend warriors. Living there is a whole different matter

I am struggling to find an apartment here as well. Honestly, I did not expect that in Kharkov.

I stayed in a studio from Booking.com which is a small guesthouse but there was enough privacy in the rooms upstairs due to a separate entrance. I had to leave after 2 nights because it was full and I did not book in advance. Turkish people come to Kharkov as well because they have cheap direct flights and don't need a visa so I guess that affects availability.
Now I am in a 1 bedroom apartment from Booking.com for 20 USD per night. It is 2 miles south of Universitet metro. While Uber costs nothing I prefer to walk around and there is not even a desk in the apartment.

I checked out the other website http://www.olx.ua which was mentioned here earlier and have only found older looking cheap places, unfurnished apartments and daily rentals where I will spend the same in Kiev. On AirBnB there are a few nice places which are expensive for long-term and not even available or older looking places which are not nice. They don't have reviews either.

I had a quick look and there is 1 Facebook group for apartments with little inventory. Usually a few stations for Universitet metro.

Never been here during holidays but locals say that most students will be away. According to my online research the summer holidays depend a bit on the specific university.

Any decent accommodation gets rented out to international students, and the left over shit is rented out daily. They have no problem renting them out to locals as they have low standards and they are used to such places.

Hotels are not bad there though, obviously a little more expensive.

You can try to get some Soviet style place, some of them are comfortable despite being crap looking. Also Ukrainian girls will be too drunk and horny to care what you apartment is like when you drag them home

I would take Kharkov over Odessa at any period of the year, even in summer.

Things might be a little slow in Kharkov in July and till mid August, but after that the city will be pumping again, and on top it might be still good weather till beginning, mid September.

Girls might not speak English generally but in place like that the chances of having luck are high since there is a huge amount of young and cute girls who are also online.

To be honest no cities are great in Ukraine in summertime(compared to usual), but at least with Odessa, girls are going there for their holidays. Day game is #1 in that city, the nightlife is shit. Accommodation is difficult to find also, half his budget will go on rent.

So my top choice would be Kiev, but also travelling around to some other cities

I would not call Kharkov a second tier city. It has a population of 1.4 Million people so thats the size of a decent European capital city like Vienna or Belgrade (Belgrade is a bit bigger though). Kharkov also has a metro system and a better nightlife than Kiev. So in my opinion Kharkov would pass as a first tier city, although with less things going on besides the nightlife.

As for the English levels I agree what other people said but this does not need to be a problem as long as you are able to find the English speaking girls. Because with the once who speak English you can be quite sure that they are very keen to hook up with a foreigner.

On the discussion on summertime in Ukraine. My first choice would be Kiev. And I think Kiev besides Russian cities might be the best place in EE during summer. People just have not enough money to leave the city for an extended period of time.

I spent the whole August in Odessa last year and I got pretty bored after two weeks. The city is nice but girls are mostly gold diggers and even more transnational than in Kiev. This year I will base myself in Kiev and just fly to Odessa for a few weekends. What I noticed last year in Odessa was that the nicest girls I met in mostly Ibiza club were actually from Kiev and just there for a weekend trip. So if you don't manage to bang them once they are in Odessa you could still follow up with them in Kiev.

As superschalk just mentioned, I indeed don't think a +1 million city can be considered 2nd tier. I am working 100% freelance/internet and I like to spend at least 1/2 months in the place that I go to, have the chance to really get to know people/girls/the local culture/etc. I am more attracted about a city like Kharkiv or Kiev because I always kinda prefer places where there is very few foreigners around. I like to have at least 2/3 french speaking (my native language) friends though, which might be hard in there. Who knows, I might do 1 month Kharkiv/ 1 month Lviv. Or/and 1 month Kyiv.

If your looking for few foreigners around then forget Kharkiv, there are loads. Maybe you should consider moving to the village, lots of unspoiled wholesome farming girls, and no foreigners around to take them away from you.

Then again if you are a French speaker, then maybe Kharkiv is a good shout, lots of African students.

Can anyone tell me the best places to go for night life and day game presently, I have never been and hoping to really blow it out and have a great trip. I would think some day game close to the Universities? I will report back when I return to the states in Early July. A list of must see places and best places to be out during the day would be great. I'd guess that it's because in Russian it's really common to say мне интересно ... (mnye interesna) which means i find it interesting/intriguing/fascinating for me

Мне интересно знать/mne interesna znat - I would like to know
Твой денег/образ жизнь/способность трахать меня + интересно мне (your money, lifestyle, ability to fuck me + is attractive/interesting to me)
