RE: Bang Japan: Game in The Great Nippon Empire
I wanted to share with you guys my trip to Japan in late-August. I'm a little delayed in posting, but better now than never. First off, want to give a big shoutout to Bushido and Tokyo Joe. Bushido gave me fantastic, pragmatic information and helped me navigate the maze that Japan is. I read Tokyo Joe's thread a couple times and its very informative. Unfortunately, I missed one sentence in his initial post that may have been the most important in the whole thread.

After spending a month in Thailand I had the opportunity to go to Japan. I wasn't really focused on a smash trip as I was just in Thailand, and told myself, "I'm going to see the sites and culture". Whatever that bullshit means. I could go as long as I wanted but choose to keep it around 17 days. To see as much as possible, I hashed out a trip of Sapporo, Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Fukuoka. I was pretty much winging it, and that itinerary wasn't even finalized until I was in Tokyo.
Before I get into the details, I want to point out a few things about Japan, its culture, the girls etc. Many of you guys may be aware of this, but I think its vital to bring up again.
1) The language barrier really is an enormous obstacle. I didn't think it was that bad, and was confident I could just use body language. My Japanese consists of the following sentence: Hokkaido omakase yokohama tenjin fukuoka shibuya shinjuku wasabi. Basically zero. As it has been mentioned here many times, the hot girls speak zero english. I managed to find a translator on LINE that somewhat mitigated this. You would invite a girl to a group with this translator and it would automatically translate both languages.
2) Japan and Japanese culture is quite racist. I've never experienced racism like this. Now I know what it feels like to be a African-American in Ferguson - oppression. Many times I tried walking into places and was greeted with a big X. Granted in Sapporo a few of those may have been snack bars that I was not aware of, but several were izakayas that should have let me in.
3) A lot of Japanese girls are pretty ugly. Moles, terrible teeth, vampires, etc. My first few days I couldn't figure out what the hype was. Then Bushido directed me to the 109 store in Shibuya and I almost had a panic attack. 8 FLOORS of the hottest asian smash you could possibly dream of. When I got there I ran up the whole 8 floors, then ran back down as fast as I could. I think I was trying to find an ugly girl. I could not. So ultimately, Japan has by far the hottest asian girls of anywhere in the world. It's not even close you, just need to know where.
4) Logistics and foreigner receptiveness will absolutely destroy you. The majority of time I couldn't figure out where to go. If I found somewhere I thought was good, the foreigner receptiveness was abysmal. Or the ratios were 80/20 guys, no joke that bad. This really messed me up, as whenever I get to a new city I immediately try to find the XS or Liv. This is a wrong move in Japan. You need to find the ganjin hunters, so to speak.
5) Japanese girls, in my opinion, do not understand sarcasm at all. Maybe it was the language barrier, or something else. But it really hampered my interactions with them. They just don't get it. Half of my conversing skills rely on sarcasm, so this was big for me.
6) Japanese pours are the weakest shit ever. It took me FOREVER to get a buzz. LA pours are easily 3x the average Japanese pour. The "girls only" sections really mess up the club experience.
Sapporo
I fly to Tokyo from the U.S. (seat 1B, courtesy of Global Entry's frequent flyer thread - check it out), then immediately fly to Sapporo. Pulled $500 out the ATM, I wanted to take out more but that was the limit. More on that later. I head over to Riveria. It was the most unusual, strangest nightclub environment I've ever seen. Crazy Skrillex dubstep, but no one seeming to have fun just watching. I proceed to drink heavily and make a scene. Not much traction so I call it a night around 5am.
I walk over to the Lawson to get some cigarettes and see a large group of Japanese behind me. Two girls are looking at me so I just proclaim, "RAMEN!" very loudly. They laugh and I say it again. One of the girls says it too, and I immediately grab her hand and just walk outside saying "Ramen". Zero resistance.
Head back to my condo, and this girl speaks zero english. Probably about 18-21, maybe a 6 or low 7. It's my first night so I say fuck it. Plus she had a tongue ring and weird ass vampire teeth that intrigued me.
Total time from "RAMEN!" to balls deep: <5 minutes. Super submissive basically wanted all this freaky stuff, like face spitting, choking, etc. So on her way out at like 9am she RUNS out! I think, shit she took my wallet or something, I panic for a bit but then find it. A few moments later, however, I realize she didn't take my wallet but all my cash I took out a few hours earlier from the ATM. I was excited to head out for the night and thought my chances of a smash were nil so carelessly left around $400 right on the kitchen counter. She yanked it and ran on the way out. I may be the only rooshv member to get robbed within his first 7 hours in Japan. Most aren't honest enough to admit this.
I was in Sapporo for another day or two and spent the rest of the time seeing the ski jump, the beer factory, and the fish market. Basically, lying to myself (though I didn't realize it at the time) that I wanted to see tourist stuff. The fish market, however, has the finest sushi in the world. Truly amazing. I didn't fully appreciate it until I experienced the rest of the sushi in Japan. I'm considering going back just to visit the fish market.
Tokyo
Set up shop in Roppongi about 20 feet away from Feria, unfortunately it was closed. And basically follow Tokyo Joe's guide to a tee. My first night out I hit up Geronimo's, A971, Cat's, R2 etc. They were all dead. I managed to almost get a girl back at Cat's (despite being empty), but her friend was DJing or some garbage and she didn't come back. I call it quits around 4-5am.
Friday I head over to R2 and it was packed. A very receptive crowd, probably the best place to go in my opinion for a foreigner. I snag an older Jap (maybe 30) and her friend and head over to Muse. This place is completely anti-foreigner and you even need a business card to get in, of course I didn't have one. The girl said something to the bouncer and I got in.
I'm out of control this night buying a lot of drinks and just causing mayhem. At one point I pick up the Jap girl and spin her in the middle of the dance floor around 30 Japanese guys. Bumping into everyone and just not giving a fuck. I should have definitely got into a fight this night, not sure how I didn't.
Her friend was cockblocking all night, and eventually got sick so they left around 4am. I stayed until I had $10 left, and was left with the decision to get another drink or take a taxi home. Of course, I got the drink and sure enough there's a typhoon outside and I have to walk home in the rain. No pull.
The next night I meet up with Infinitejest and am determined to find the good nightclub. We head over to V2, which might possibly be the worst nightclub I've ever been to. I'm smoking and bouncer gets right in my face and says, "YOU CANNOT SMOKE HERE" and points 2 feet away to the "smoking section". I get a drink at the bar and am sipping on it, then another bouncer says, "YOU CANNOT DRINK HERE". He points two feet away to the dance floor. Ok WTF.
The girls here just were not down and the nightclub has an awful layout with terrible bouncers. We head over to Jumanji. Sure enough its a $20 cover with 80% guys. Wow. Immediately leave.
Head over to Espirit and stay there the rest of the night, but the crowd just was not receptive. Go home defeated around 6am.
The next day I'm recovering but see Radiohead at night. I needed another day off before I headed out to Kyoto so extended Tokyo so I could spend the whole day at the onsen in the middle of the city. Don't know the name, but it was huge. I recommend people checking out an onsen during their visit. I know it wasn't an official onsen, but it was still very nice. I also did eat at the wagyu steak place in Ginza that Tokyo Joe recommends. It was around $150 all in, but phenomenal.
Kyoto
After a somewhat disastrous Tokyo visit, I'm determined to make up for it in Kyoto. Get an 18 year olds number leaving the train station on the way to my accommodations, so things seem to be going good. I hit this night really, really hard. I think I went to every club in Kyoto - 4 or 5. I must have had 12-20 vodka red bulls. I end up with a decent enough girl at the last club, and was about to take her back. But of course her friend cockblocks me, or something else happened I couldn't figure out. No smash. Sure enough a few weeks later when I'm back in the U.S. she messages me non-stop and apologizes, and says she wishes she came back with me. Odd.
I have to wake up at 7am to go on a 12 hour bus tour. It's like 5:30 when I go to sleep. I was considering ditching it, but the Jew in me said no. That garbage was like $135.
I wake up to probably the worst hangover I've had in a while and make my way to the bus stop. Of course, its like the hottest day of the year in Kyoto and I have a 12 hour tour. I was not feeling this at all, but powered through it. Some of the Chinese girls were legit on the verge of tears because it was so hot. I look at them with disgust and disdain. "Did you drink 15 redbull vodka's and sleep 1.5 hours last night? Stop bitching". I'm practically sweating vodka red bull.
Somewhere in the Imperial Palace in 95 degree weather I see a rock. I realize the only thing I'm going to smash is my head on this rock because its so fucking hot and Japan does not like me. I make it through the day and consider getting a hotel at Kyoto station to just sleep. But I say fuck it and get on the train to Osaka.
Osaka
I don't really understand the love for this city. I disliked it about the first 10 minutes I got there. I stayed in Shinsaibashi and tried to find out where to go. Of course the places I went to had literally zero people. I cut my losses and decide to go to an International Party where they are more receptive. There's about 4-5 girls there and none are hot. $20 cover for "all you can drink", but its watered down bullshit. I literally told the bartender, I'll pay you just give me a real drink.
Head out of there around 11 to venture to a real club. End up across the street, of course its empty except for a table of Japanese guys in suits. I make friends, get them all wasted and talk with the head guy. Turns out they work for IBM and this guy is an IBM executive for all of Osaka. Big baller, easily makes $1mm+ a year.
I get him really drunk and he starts whispering stuff in my ear and mentioning he wants to party with me, etc. He keeps says, "Happening bar, illegal, illegal, we go, shhh" From what he told me, its like a couple's orgy place (no hookers), but its members only. "Many girl will like you, free don't worry". We get his team to leave and then turn the other way down the streets of Osaka.
We end up in some real sketch place. Up 2 stairs, elevator down, down more stairs, really weird I thought were were going in circles. When we get there of course, the bouncer is like no sorry no more tonight. The smash gods were really cursing me.
He says that's the only one he knows open tonight so we part ways. I head over to Giraffe, but it closes in 15 minutes so I don't have much time. After I head to G2, which I think is Giraffe 2. I think this is some sort of scam to extract as much cover out of you as possible. There might even be a G3. Giraffe --> G2 --> G3 - triple the cover, none of the fun!
I arrive and there's only two Japanese girls and they are in a "girls only" section. Complete bullshit. A few more people show up later in the night, I pull a pretty hot girl 7 or low 8 and get her back to my hotel. Smash raw. The smash gods smile down from the heavens. Maybe Japan's not so bad.
Fukuoka
I put a lot of hope on Fukuoka, in fact I considered going back to Tokyo and finish the trip off there. But a friend of mine said go to Fukuoka, trust me. I threw the hailmary.
What I didn't realize was that Fukuoka is tiny, and there's only like 2 "decent" clubs. Happy Cock and Cat's. Of course its Friday at 12am and Happy Cock is dead. So I head over to Cat's. Just more endless, crowded, no english, bad ratios I've been experiencing the whole trip. I get a girl back and am about to smash, but I couldn't crack the LMR. This was getting ridiculous. She leaves shortly after, and I head over to Happy Cock. Couldn't finish strong though.
The next night I again, cut my losses and head over to an International Party. I'm suited up to the tee and getting a lot of looks. I hook two girls, but I think one got jealous when I chose her friend over her. The one I choose didn't speak english, and it turns out they were part of a bigger group. So I now have like 6-7 Japanese girls and me, no wingman. They didn't want to go to a club, so I bring them to the closest bar to try and loosen them up and isolate the one girl. No dice and they bail when they see what I'm trying to do.
I head over to Happy Cock and run into this really hot Japanese girl I met the night before at Cat's. She's initially very receptive, but the thirst and praise she's getting from like 30 Japanese guys gets to her. At one point, I can't even get through her worshippers it was so bad. I get some Taiwanese girl back to my hotel, but of course couldn't crack the last minute resistance. No joke during this trip, I think had 3 maybe even 4 girls on my bed, but couldn't close. Strange.
I kick her out my hotel room and head back to Happy Cock. Trying to get things rolling with other girls I was talking to during the night, but they all suddenly have "boyfriends". I head home defeated. Fukuoka is awful if you don't speak Japanese.
I head back to Tokyo for one last day, but I'm pretty beat. I no joke would walk 3-5 miles each night, pounding the pavement looking for the action. While drinking the whole time. Doing night-game consistently is physically and mentally very taxing. It really takes a special breed to handle the tolls. I'm still conditioning myself.
It appears that my whole logic on what's good, where I should go, etc. was not working. So I did the absolute opposite of what I thought was good. At 1:30am in the middle of a typhoon, I head over to Womb. My logic was that no way this is going to be good, its raining very hard outside and its a Monday. Sure enough I was dead wrong. It's packed and has some of the hottest girls I've seen all trip. Blew my mind. The girls here were very insular and didn't get much traction.
Conclusion
Japan is tough and you really need a good understanding of the culture, where to go, and knowing the language helps tremendously. Half the time I couldn't find where to go, if I did find a good place no one spoke english. I was plagued by terrible weather, 3 typhoons in 2 weeks. I think towards the end I was starting to understand the nuances of Japanese girls. The first 3 weeks back in the U.S. I smashed 2 Japanese girls.
They are very, very childish. I think the typical Japanese girl has a train of thought that is something like this: Pink, Pokemon, Flower, Sushi, Dress. They are half retarded I swear.
If you can understand these nuances, speak the language, I think Japan very much is a paradise. Do not go to the third-tier cities if you don't speak the language. Tokyo Joe said it in his write-up, but I missed it. In fact, if you a first time visitor don't even go to the clubs. Only go to the international parties and you should be alright.
This might sound like a bitter post, but its not Japan is amazing. The girls are very hot, but you need a certain type of style and approach to do well here. I'll be back soon with a vengeance. You learn from your failures, adjust and come back stronger.
