RE: Super Bowl XLVIII
You can write up all the 5000 word posts you want but if you believe Russ is a game manager you don't know football, period, you just have no clue. When guys who have defined the position of qb are in awe of the gifts/intangibles/smarts/arm/feet of this kid are laughing at the notion hes a game manager you better believe you're talking out of your ass. At this point if you're not seeing it, it's only because you have a reason for not wanting to see it. In the upcoming years as the big contracts start to pour in for the young talent and the hawks dont have the embarrassment of riches they currently possess he will likely need to start putting up gaudier numbers and thats when you fantasy stat guys will come around but make no mistake about he was always capable of it just didn't need it, yesterdays game should've shown you that. Hes played some of the nastiest ds in the league all year when faced with a d that shut down brady and rivers but well below what hes used to seeing week in week out he was moving the ball effortlessly, barely bothered, if you dont think he could've gone for 300+ and 4+ scores you're crazy, he didn't for the simple reason that the game was in hand but again he was capable. Every win this year, every 1, every signature win that led to the ultimate signature moment of holding that lombardi had a Russ handprint all over it. A game manager doesn't influence and change games the way Russ does.

Only 5 players have thrown for more than 5,000 yards in a season.
Guess who's part of that list? Yep, such luminaries as Peyton, Brees, Marino, Brady, Warner...
and Matthew Stafford.
Clearly not in the same category as Mike frickin Glennon. Stafford's a great QB.
Fine, I'll give him credit for that accomplishment despite his having a relatively weak past couple of seasons. Take Stafford out and replace him with Matt Cassel, Ryan Tannehill or a multitude of others.
Either way my point stands.

RE: Super Bowl XLVIII
People don't watch football. You have a bunch of airhead folks in here whom just look at box scores and big plays, hence the Wilson hate.
Wilson playing on third down was enough to give him MVP. He was extending drives at critical points all game, it was impressive to watch.
Zero turnovers for Wilson and he exposed the weak points of Denver's secondary all game long. Wilson zero'd in on Champ Bailey on middle rolls that Champ's slow ass couldn't keep up with.
Right now Wilson is in the same boat as Brady and Big Ben after their 2nd seasons and he shares the same upside as both of them. I agree 100% with @mikey, the average football fan isn't watching football, they just watch stats for fantasy reasons. Even the "talking heads" on TV are idiots and can barley see it, only high IQ football guys are seeing what Wilson is doing, the dude has skill. He is basically Joe Thiesmenn, Doug Flutie, and Aaron Rodgers rolled into one.. that's scary shit. This guy is still a kid in the game and still has a lot to learn.
I will say though Wilson has only one minor flaw that is glaring and obvious, but see but haters don't even notice it because they don't watch the games.Wilson has a baseball windup when he is about to shoot bombs down the field. It's minor, but it does cause him to take one extra step to set his throw and that adds on X amount of split-seconds, but it's clear the receiving units timing all takes that into account because timing is still in sync with it. That is just a mechanical flaw but it could be fixed in a off-season or two.

The mediocre Seattle passing game led by Wilson has merely been along for the ride all year as the defense, special teams, and running game carried that team to a SB win.
And no, I don't just pay attention to stats, I've probably watched 10-12 Seattle games over the past 2 years. It's a pretty good sample size to reach a conclusion that Wilson is a slightly above-average QB with limited upside who does a good job playing within his means and let the defense win the games.
This is all complete BS and plenty of evidence has been given in this thread to make that clear, but I'll leave you to it if it makes you feel better. Your conclusions regarding Wilson clearly have no rational basis, and therefore cannot be reasoned away.
Stay hatin', bro.

Well after the last superbowl the seahawks made it to this shouldn't be a surprise. I guess it's just karma after they started throwing flags for no reason 8 years ago when the "wrong team" was winning early.
Yeah, that was horrendous. The bias was painfully obvious from the start.
Nothing is worse than the World Cup though, and even worse, FIFA is reluctant to do much about it. They say it's "part of the game."
Pretty pathetic considering that the WC only occurs once every four years.

I don't think this is coincidence.
Quote:Funny thing is if you look at the stats without watching the game, it looks like Peyton played reasonably well. But nobody watching play by play thought that Manning was anything near his normal accuracy, strength or overall performance.
True. Advanced stats and efficiency stats bear this out, though. Manning wasn't even remotely close to his usual output. Wilson, meanwhile, had one of the best games of the season maybe even of his career.
Game Summary
If you watched the game, you probably remember Manning throwing lots of completions for "not quite enough" yardage, failing to get first downs or good field position. One way this shows up in stats is in Average Yards Per Attempt (AYPA).
Manning's Superbowl AYPA: 3.8 ( season: 7.0)
Wilson's Superbowl AYPA: 8.2 ( season: 6.0)
Also, you can see that 280 yards is not that much for Manning, in fact it's his 4th lowest yardage total of the season.

Good point. Quick google shows 1999 Rams are #10 and the only SB winner in top 10. Reading an interview with Richard Sherman, it sounded like they just did their homework on Peyton. If Peyton had changed up his game plan, Seattle would've been screwed, at least until the half. Incidentally, I think this is what NE did in their first meeting.
I'm a Denver fan and still in shock. With a safety 12 seconds in, I knew it was going to be a rough game. The thing is we knew the D has big weaknesses, but they played OK and made some good stops, especially early on. The special teams totally fell apart and Orlando Franklin got owned by the D line, and Peyton, well he played the way he plays when the game plan falls apart. It's like these guys thought the game was supposed to be on Monday.
Suckiest thing is that they get lousy draft position and no ring. And these guys are old, they need a great draft this year to do anything next year.
