I watched Mario when he was with City. Besides being just a great striker, he must be the most ICE COLD penalty taker I've seen.

Indeed, i see how he *could* come unstuck though [hope not]

He runs up to the ball, then almost stops, the goalie has blinked and moved and he can kick and control the ball to anywhere he wants, does not need a maximum force *loose* & *lucky* kick like all the other penalty takers

Never seen it done like that before, works a treat

This Guy is quality, don't understand why the British media generated so much hate against him causing him to want to leave. He was a great talent and entertainment for the Premiership.

You can't deny that Balotelli has pure natural class, similar to Berbatov.

He was controversial and therefore pretty easy to turn into a villain/bad guy. Newsmedia love bad-guys. They sell papers (or subscriptions/ad money in the modern age).

Agree and disagree with some of that. I particularly dislike the bit where he mentions Hillsborough in reference to hooliganism and thuggery.

I'm losing interest in football because of the commercialism in it and what most people these days want it to be: somewhere to go, sit down in silence and be entertained. Football crowds have always been part of going to the match and getting the team to win. "There's no one in the stands serving food during the match".

I don't go to Anfield any more. I went a fair bit last season but haven't gone at all this season. I get fed up with all the people going their for day trips with their little picnics and flasks of hot drinks. It's an hour and a half with 15 minutes for half time. God forbid you can't go 2 hours without eating in the middle of the afternoon.

Too many people go to be entertained, they want perfection and every single miscued pass is met with groans from all the people that "aren't getting their money's worth" and it affects the players.

Away days are so much more fun and my better memories from football are from travelling the country and being with a massive group of people that just want to sing, shout and get behind the team. It doesn't have wankers dressed up in their replica kits and scarves taking photos on their iPads.

Here's recent pictures from an away game. You wouldn't get this at Anfield because it's become a tourist destination, there's no passion and ferocity in trying to get the team pumped up. Something to tell everyone on Facebook where you are and showcase a load of photos. It's like a museum. These days are far better:

I feel English football fans are the most passionate in the world.

Firstly - in a lot of countries people get passionate about alot of things. Such as protesting against the government or celebrating in the streets after an election. Or just having giant parties on their Saint's Feast Days...

Not in England. We get passionate over football and nothing else. And that bottled up passion is noticeable.

Secondly - alot of 'passion' in foreign football. Is just dancing to a stupid samba drum, twirling a shitty vuvuzela or throwing brightly coloured flares on to the pitch. That is all pretty gay. In England the fans are directly concentrating on the action ont he pitch and nothing else.

Thirdly - English football due to it's high pace and the competiveness of mathches is the most exciting in the world. It might not be the best or the most skillful. But it is the most exciting. Andnd that too helps generate the unique atmosphere found at English football matches.

Fourthly - our fans are the most pissed at matches.

Fifthly - everybody else agrees. A big attraction to foreign players and managers (like Mourinho) is the excitement and atmosphere found in the Premier League. Many outsiders have commented on how much more intense English football is compared to other countries.

Sixthly - considering how expensive the Premier League is - the amount of spectators at each match is pretty impressive. Indeed - check out this astonishing statistic for how bad things are in Italy.

Back in 2006 - only 237(!!!) fans turned up to watch Juventus play Sampdoria in a cup match. The game took place in a stadium that could hold 67,000 people.

Another thing. How come the pundits on TV are shit? I hate the pundits on MOTD, MOTD2 and ITV.

I prefer Radio 5 Live and Mike Ingham.

The only good pundit on TV I have seen has being Martin O'Neil. With Des Lynam as the host.

These days the best pundit is Gary Neville on Sky.

Cardguy, apparently Germans are really passionate about their teams, which I find doesn't translate to fan participation...if the audiences at boxing matches in Germany is anything to go by. I could put it down to the Klitschko's being 'boring', but at all boxing matches I've watched that have been held in Germany, you'd think they were watching Cricket or something.

I just wish our prices were as low as theirs. I heard on talksport that a season ticket to a mid-table Bundesliga side is cheaper than it is to some English Conference sides!

Reus and Gundogan are controlling the midfield better than Schweinsteiger and Muller.
