Would it be too soon to say that Rousey clearly "feels the Bern"?

It's just the mainstream media trying harder and harder to push more masculine and older women to the forefront to change sexual "tastes" of men. I've seen more than one laughable piece referring to Rhonda as the new standard for women and as a "sexy athletic bombshell."

Last week was her life's peek amount of attention. After this defeat, I would bet money that her 15 minutes of fame is up, at least in terms of the mainstream media. We can all go back to our lives of not hearing about her.

Since you don't follow MMA I will let you in on a little secret. The rematch which will probably take place July 2016 will be way bigger than this event. You're going to hear about her again.

This chick is the total opposite of Ronda: extremely likable and respectful, but I don't believe she's ready for the champ of her division! That Joanna is the female version of Jose Aldo. Explosive with flawless technique!

Paige Vanzant in addition to being way more attractive then Rhonda also has a way sweeter personality - wifey material right there. She's also a dancer and a model and raised in the countryside so you know she was brought up way more traditional. Rhonda has a chip on her shoulder about being the chubby girl when she was younger and you can see it from her personality. I remember her lashing out at Arianny Celeste the ring girl unprovoked. Jealous of the hot girls still?

How much of a size advantage? Height/Weight etc.

And how much training and prep would you need?

To defeat in a hypothetical 5 round UFC rules match up...

A. Ronda Rousey

B. Holly Holm

I was just having this discussion with a few boys and a few seem to seriously overate the ability of the female fighters and severely misunderstand how much of a factor size, weight and being a male would be.

What do you guys think?

Just add on to what Blackwell said, what is the punching power differential of between men and women of the same weight? I mean they might be the same size but I would think a man would hit harder and be able to take a punch better, right?

Just from a MMA fan perspective:

I'm guessing at least a purple belt level understanding of BJJ and takedown defense from a good instructor.

2-3 years of muay thai.

Some cage experience.

A guy in an equivalent weight class with pro athletic conditioning and even with mediocre talent would probably tool both.

The difference between men and women is significant when it comes to strength and bone density. Men are born to fight. Women fight as a cultural curiosity or a necessity in extreme circumstances. There's a big difference there. The roundhouse kicking girl knocking out linebackers thing is a Hollywood invention.

An average fat slob would get their asses beat but an equal weight conditoned male athlete with serious training would still win against these female champs even if they were mediocre fighters.

You MMA fans are a bit difficult.

This is one of the reasons why I wouldn't even think about betting on MMA. As far as I can tell, and correct me if I'm wrong on this, every MMA fighter with over 21 fights has losses on his record, often many losses. Way too much of a risk. I may very well never even bet on boxing again and retire undefeated. The one guy who never lost, Mayweather, is gone, and the chances of Golovkin getting anyone who would cause the odds to be better than -500 in the near future are very slim.

I used to bet money on MMA and I can tell you that it is indeed tough. I'm saying this as a guy who had already watched MMA for years before I ever put any cold hard cash on the results of fights. There's way too many ways to lose and so many uncontrollable variables - upsets are a relatively common thing compared to other sports.

RE: I'm sick of Rhonda Rousey!
I am very curious to see what the media's reaction is to the actual knockout kick and Rousey's drop.

Clearly, when male fighters getting demolished in one-hit sledgehammer punches/kicks, commentators, sports anchors, and all other media people do the hooting and hollering and celebrate hard hard the man got hit and how lifeless he fell. They revel in the man's eyes rolling back as his limp body collapses to the canvas, often laughing in the process.

Will Rousey's abrupt nap time in the Octagon be as jubilantly celebrated and embraced? I suspect a lot of sympathy from the members of the MSM, if not an all out discussion in prohibiting MMA entirely because pain/danger/risk only matters when it happens to a woman.

This is essentially what I was saying also.

I'm 6'3, 220 pounds and I have over 3 years experience in various disciplines. I was saying to this friend of mine, he is 5'8 and has never step foot in a gym or had any training. He is a casual fan of MMA and he thinks that I would lose to both Holm and Rousey simply because they are 'World Champions'.

I explained how it is relative to the competition. That men are so vastly superior physically, from strength and bone density to the Vo2 max and more.

Not to mention I have 6+ inches and over 80 pounds on both of them. It's just absurd.

Give me a fucking break.

A 3 month training camp and I'll knock both of them out in first round. Ronda, gladly.

I'll even go as far as to say that a guy with that much of a size advantage who is in shape and with just a few months serious muay thai training and takedown defense could easily beat the shit out of both of those girls.

I would never say the same thing about a standard male vs male fight though. I imagine even a moderately or well trained guy outweighing a male champ but not on their skill level would still get tooled hard by someone like mighty mouse.
