Thoughts on matching vest and pants but different jacket?

I don't see this style as dated. You can always play with it - different style jackets, layering with sweaters, tie, no tie, different wash jeans, boots, casual shoes, etc. etc.

This the standard "player" look in the Upper Midwest it seems.

Yeah, Hotwheels rolls in leather.

A blazer or two is on the shopping list. A suit is too much for the small towns around here.

That leather jacket is ghastly. Should be thrown in a bin and burned.

I grew up around people with the mentality that the black leather jacket and jeans was the ultimate look. Very 90's. It set my style growth back 10 years.

When I go out to posher clubs/bars I do what I call the "Harry Styles"
Messed up hair, skinny Jeans, brown leather Oxfords, deep neck tshirt and slim fit navy blazer with rolled up sleeves and a handkerchief
Makes you stand out in a good way and works really well for me

Here's the Ali in suede blazer. I'll do much more damage with this than a full suit. Read'em and weep gents.

I like that look.

No homo.

Where did you pick up that blazer?

And I spy David Coverdale hair.

It's a Ralph Lauren blazer. Picked it up at Belks the other day for 75% off, making the grand total of $58 out the door. No tailoring needed. Bam. I can crush the custom suited competition at a hundredth of the price.

Fun part is, that's not even my Sunday best. Whip

Love the outfit except for the boot cut jeans. Just a preference really.

I've only worn the boot cut as it is different with a blazer. Am looking for straighter leg, when my bank account warrants it. Since everyone is wearing my shit now, I'm gonna go back to cowboy boots and ripped jeans with the blazer if that's what it takes. Whip

edit- Do you guys think the blazer need tailored?

I think it needs to be tailored. Sleeves shortened a bit. Also taken in at waist to give a more fitted look. I'm afraid that the arm holes are (or at least look) too big, and there is not much you can do about that in a cost effective way.

I've been rocking my Armani Collezioni blazer with a pair of dark "7s for all mankind" and it's been a big hit. Sometimes I'll throw a cardigan underneath it.
This gay dude complimented me on it while I was getting off the train so I must be doing something right, right? Gay
Also, 7s are the softest, comfiest jeans I have ever owned, everyone should try on a pair.

That looks good if you're heading out for a night of line dancing.

How about this one, I'm pretty sure it's jeans and looks very cool, I'm digging the glittery jacket.

I'd double kill it in a country bar. This look will work more than fine where a lot of guys are wearing regular black blazers.

That's an awesome look. Some people will no doubt try for it and fail horribly.

You look like the most interesting guy ever, like you are always on an adventure. Badass

what brand of blazer is best for beginners?

I went into h&m, and they have some cheapos for only 170 bucks. not bad, considering they felt pretty good.

I also tried on some hugo boss, which is definitely a major step up, but the fit didn't seem as good.

As far as colors go, I like the light grey, especially if you're going to wear it with jeans.

I got one from Zara 60€. Fits almost perfect, it just needs to be shortened on the sleeves
