Exactly my point. Most guys are median income 9 to 5r's not international playboys. There's a term for poor guys that wear expensive suits all the time ...$35,000 millionaires. You don't wanna be that guy

If you've got the income and lifestyle(house and car) to go with it then I'm all for rolling suited down everyday.

It's not really the same effort - it's much quicker. And you're kind of assuming the guy will also have a nice shirt and tie on. That's not usually the case, when done right.

I'd personally usually go with the v-neck underneath. You need some nice shoes that go with the blazer (and also go well with jeans), but it's kind of like being dressed casual and just throwing the blazer on as an afterthought. Simple as grabbing the blazer on the way out the door.

I think it looks looks good, and on top of that it's easy and comfortable. And all it takes is a jacket (assuming the rest of your wardrobe is already well-chosen and all your clothes fit, etc).

hahaha So true, OG. I used to dress up like this all the time when I lived in Humboldt permanently, and I never failed to get those comments. People do not dress up here. You do see more SF-type style creeping into Speakeasy and The Palm Lounge, but other than that, young people around here dress either ghetto, office space, or lumberjack (and I'm talking about the females lol).

I'm probably over-exagerating a bit, but it's pretty bad when people act like you're pretentious if you wear a button-up. The hotter women do notice and deliver compliments though. In this area, it really is something different.

NYC...yeah sure throw on the suit. ATL...unless you're at a nice hotel bar or nice restaurant (only places G would be seen, no doubt), a suit (not to mention custom suit) will have most people thinking "did this guy just get off work or is he just weird and showy?", in ANY part of town. That's why I think the jeans/jacket combo works best. Over 35 yo: rules are different.

A good way to know if you have a good sense of style is if girls ask for your opinion on their outfits. Not girls just looking for compliments, which you shouldn't be handing out anyway, but girls who genuinely want to know if you think their outfit looks good and what you think would make it look better.

Full suited up is fine in of itself, but the blazer has better mobility. Jeans are less likely to rip/get dirty/hold up to some wear/smoking Jays at the park/ and such.


@everybody- G-manifesto does have a point. It took me a good 5 minutes searching casual blazer on google images to find 1-2 that I liked. Most are tacky, unfashionable, ridiculous, or poorly cut. The lack of padding also makes you depend more on your body-type.

My most successful outfit this year I discovered by accident. I was shopping for blazers on a saturday morning wearing a vneck and jeans. I put on a light grey blazer with the purple vneck and it looked great. My sister (who was shopping with me) said so also.

Everytime I've worn it out it gets compliments, or I hook up with a girl. And this was my first vneck and also my first blazer. Just happened to put them on together.

A lot of it depends on the location and vibe. I wore a suit in Ukraine and was mauled. I wore a suit in Sweden/Norway and nobody paid attention to me, whereas dressing down worked better. Just best to experiment. I went almost 10 years with the same haircut, got a different style and all of a sudden people talk about it all the time. Looking to hopefully get that final product together where I'm presenting myself as best as possible.

(I have been experimenting with this one with great results).

Or for colder climes:

(I would experiment with this one, but I am always in places with perfect weather.)

Ditch the jeans (unless you can really pull it off, I do have one friend that can, but he is a Black Model looking cat like Denzel or Tyson Beckford or something. In my experience, those are the only types that can really pull this off. But then again, they can pretty much pull off anything. Those white dudes look like straight clowns at best, suspect gay boys at worst. And that goes for that weesh NFL QB dork above too.)

Half of those looks aren't bad. But these are all male models, actors, or pro athletes. I think the picture of Zan posted in this thread is a more realistic one of how a guy would actually look. It's a good look if the situation is too informal for a suit.

Despite what the G-Manifesto thinks, I actually like this look personally. The only thing I will say is that in the pics of the guys you posted, I don't like the color schemes of their outfits. The 3rd and 4th guys from the top are the closest to the look I rock, but I feel like the colors I wear match much better.

G I respect your opinion very much when it comes to style. How do feel about rocking long hair with a suit? Does it work or are these two things you can never mix together properly?

One time I was meeting a girl for a drink at a bar. I wasn't suited down but was wearing my typical black dress shirt untucked with rolled sleeves look. I usually wear my hair down, long and rocker style. Another girl stopped me on my way back from the bathroom and started talking to me. She even said "You look like you're famous".

I guess my look and style works for me but I also get some hate from the fellas. I had a car drive past me once and someone yelled "Hey Faaaaabio".

I laughed it off cause I was hanging with two girls and he was cruising around hating with his homeboy. The girls got a laugh out of it though. I always attract polarized attention like that when I go out.

Two button, peak lapels, same color and same color pinstripes. My pants aren't cuffed though.

Yeah, it is ridiculously hard to find good pics of this online. When you see it in person you know if it's working though. It works good for guys with a casual, hip style. Also goes really well with the 2 or 3 day beard or a goatee. It's meant to be a bit rough around the edges. In the end, as I mentioned before, doesn't compete with suit game, but it's a fast look to throw together and opens up a lot of versatility.

But certainly a matter of taste that's not for everyone.

Agreed, and you're right. I just grabbed what I could find that was decent compared to G's biased (cough cough) examples. It also occurred to me that they were models. To be honest, I think their model looks and the obvious staging of the pics makes the look more gay/metro than it needs to.
