RE: Wearing a suit jacket or blazer with jeans
Italians rock the blazer and jeans look like crazy for years now. Look at every other presenter or actor in a drama on TV and they have this look. Also huge is the sweater over a dress shirt.

A website with some tips on it..translation is a bit wonky:

Women respond well to the suit jacket or blazer, so, Yes! If you’re even asking this question – congratulations! You’re putting some thought in how you present yourself, unlike most.

I work in an office (I know, I know…) and many people keep a sweater there for cold days. I have a casual black blazer that lives permanently at my desk for such days. It goes with almost everything, whether I’m wearing jeans that day or dress pants. Until people got used to it, they would always ask me what I’m dressing up for. I take that as a GOOD sign. (Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.)

We live in an almost constantly casual world now. The men and the boys wear t-shirts and ball caps and you can’t tell them apart. My nephew is going to be a senior in high school next year, and I tell him it’s time to start dressing like a man. It’s the main non-verbal that sets you apart from the pack.

At the last place I worked (yet another office, mostly women) one of the ladies took me aside and gently suggested I not dress up so much. (I wore pretty much what every other male in the office wore, plus a blazer.) What I gathered was that the ladies had an informal understanding that they also would not dress up too much, to avoid a war of escalation. (And so they wouldn’t have to try too hard.) Messaged received - request declined! I think a lot of women in the workplace share this understanding, and it shows. But there’s always this 5% sprinkled throughout the organization that dress up, have style, and look good. You want to be the male equivalent of that aesthetic.

A final note; about footwear. Someone told me long ago that women put such great stock in shoes that they will size you up in a first impression from the feet up. Wear a serious (formal) shoe and you will be taken seriously. Wear a causal shoe and you will be taken casually. Almost any boot or dress shoe puts you in the serious category. Get yourself a black blazer and some black cowboy boots, and walk tall!

Of course you can wear jeans with a blazer. Add a pocket square for additional style.
