Highly underrated/un - talked about movie is "Blow Up" by Antonioni. It stars David Hemmings [who had a very impressive lizard record in real life] as a gifted fashion photographer on a quest, as well as a smaller role by Vanessa Redgrave.

The closest movie to this stylistically would be A Clockwork Orange by Kubrick, which might be my favorite movie of all time. The imagery, as well as the soundtrack [look for the cameo by The Yardbirds] make this a hypnotic thriller that ends up being ingeniously existential.

The shots of pretty 60's models being directed by the photographer will certainly up your game.

I don't get why exactly "Chinatown" with Jack Nicholson is such a great movie. I am guessing it's Jack's acting and the intricate plot?

Just seems super slow to me... Could have used some editing.

Fury. Great movie. It was really deep, and great depiction of WW2. There were a ton of great battle scenes, and some legitimate edge of your seat parts. I'm sure it will be up for awards.

I just got back from seeing this. I'm not sure about the awards, but it was terrific movie. It displayed the dirt and grime of war without romanticizing it.

Also I think the young soldier Norman must have read Bang (though the film is set in 1945) because in the scene where he and Brad Pitt's character meet those 2 German woman he runs a palm reading routine on the hotter one.

I watched ELECTION with Reese Witherspoon. It was surprisingly good and had some funny parts plus I have Lways thought Reese was a hot piece of ass I am a fan of mid to late 90s era films

Obvious answers:

Mission Impossible series except for MI2. Bourne series, even the 4th one. Captain America 2. Tarantino Films.

All the Fast and Furious Movies.

Clint Eastwood films:

Dollars trilogy [2nd one is the worst]. High Plains Drifter: The most raw and red pill of his movies. The Outlaw Josey Wales is great too. Unforgiven and Gran Torino are also incredible. Gran Torino is underrated.

Random thrillers:

Black Swan. Great thriller. One of the only female led movies I recommend. I clapped to my computer screen after this one.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Another one of the only movies about "monstrous men" that I recommend. Incredible film with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara.

Steve McQueen's "Thomas Crown Affair" from 1968. The game in this is incredible. There is a newer Pierce Brosnan version I haven't seen.

Old Boy: The 2003 Korean version.


If you want something that is great and entertaining but also a bit different, watch the ones in bold first.

If you haven't seen Nightcrawler with Jake Gyllenhaal, I highly recommend that you go see it. The gist of it is that he's a down on his luck amoral petty criminal loser who wants to be someone. One day,after witnessing the buzzards circling a car crash, he gets the idea to start his own business basically documenting the same kind of grisly crime shit the journalists of ¡Alarma! magazine do in Mexico and selling it to mainstream outlets. He tries to get to crime scenes before cops to get exclusive footage. If it bleeds, it leads.

The acting is top notch, the writing is superb, the story is awesome, and the action scenes will literally have you on the edge of your seat.

Just watched 'under the skin'. I was tempted by the good imdb rating and the fact that 'Scarlett Johansson' was playing in it. To make things short, worst movie I've seen the past years. The only reason why it would be worth watching is Scarlett Johansson being naked.

Just watched Gone Baby Gone directed by Affleck. I've never been disappointed by a movie he has directed so I gave this one a go. Turned out a very good film, didn't expect the twist at the end. Also, nice red pill moment at the end. The ending is very subjective, as in you will agree or disagree with the character's decisions, but you will be happy to know he decided based on what he felt was best.

I recommend "Spun," it's about meth heads. It's on a similar level of shock as "Requiem for a Dream" but with a black comedy edge to it.

Did anyone see the latest Hobbit movie? I saw it yesterday because everything else was closed for Christmas. The thing kind of sucked compared to the other 5 middle earth films that have came out in the past 12 years or so. Little plot and a big excuse to make a messy war scene with some half assed subplots going on in-between.

The thing about the Hobbit trilogy is that there's no substance behind the action and effects. Lord of the Rings worked on the big screen because while Peter Jackson played up the action scenes, he grounded it with a strong story, that is, he stuck to the basic core of Tolkien's plot and character development.

The Hobbit is just a bunch of magical fairies shooting their bows at computer graphics.

Lucy with Scarlett Johanssen. Makes you think and is visually very entertaining with funny parts too. She doesn't have to really act, you'll understand when you see it.

Not being critical of you, but how old are you? The reason you don't like it might be simply a generational change in neurology of perception.

This movie was made before MTV (1974) and the accelerated editing which became more typical later.

Among serious movie fans, including over-50 me, it's almost universally considered one of the best films ever.

Not judging just curious.
