I am in the same boat , That fucks up my game as I know a lot of people in town but when I am out of town, It's a different ball game and I game 10 times more ferociously then I do in my home town.

Always good to hear two players working together for some tag teaming.

How are you guys opening them? By that I mean stopping them from the front while walking in opposite direction, walking along the side of them and making a comment or running up to them and stopping them from the front?

All I've been doing in the past was running up to them and stopping them from the front. I think it does scare cat as it is uncommon. Out of all the approaches I've done, none of them had translated to any bangs from running up to them to tell them that they look nice or attractive. A lot of them will give me numbers and some will text back and forth but most of them flakes. Plus in the back of my mind, there's always that feeling of me having that reputation on campus as the guy that runs up to girls to hit on them.

The only 2 bangs I had were actually from the girls opening me. I've been feeling deeply depressed, partly from losing those 2 girls and partly from not knowing what to do with my life. A lot of negativity was on my mind constantly which was really affecting my life and how I dealt with people. For the past month or so, pickup was the last thing on my mind. Now that I'm feeling better I want to get back out there again. I feel like a bumbling retard who can't make conversation with people now. Before I was playful and wanted to experiment to basically fuck with girls, I can't seem to get that attitude back. I'm slowly working up to get there but it's a drawn out process.

I was rereading Day Bang and was trying out the elderly opener on campus asking for direction. Then try to ramble afterwards. I seriously need to work on rambling. So now I'm working on that.

If you approach 10 a day, you will eventually get a reputation as an approach robot. I can do 10 a day because I rotate between various universities and colleges. I am an approach robot but no ones but me and you guys. The girls have no idea.

What he should do is not approach anyone -- in the same sense, that we, as 40 year old men do. We will not interact with dozens of 18/19 year old girls on a daily basis. So, if we want one we must go out of our way to talk to a lot of them.

If this kid approaches 10 a day on his campus, he will get a rep. He should just talk to his classmates "normally" -- In class, in study groups, on social media, in the cafeteria, the library, the quad, campus events, etc.

In college, you should not have to "cold approach" as much as Lothario and I do. You should first work your "warm leads". This is classmates, neighbors, club members, social circle, etc.

He should focus a bit more on cultivating "warm" leads rather then relying on "cold" approaches.

When he does "approach", he should go mostly indirect to avoid the reputation.

Now, that said, if you see a girl you like, go talk to her.

But, don't cold approach 10 girls a day on your campus. Unless, you are graduating or transferring at the end of the year.

THIS shows the need for a larger poole of potential eligibles... The need is recognized .. but how to accomplish filling such may be another story.

Sometimes, I meet girls or even other people who I had met before, and sometimes my memory is NOT sparked until several minutes into the conversation... then I am thinking that we met before.. It happened with a girl I was dancing Salsa with (within the last week).. Initially, I had NOT recognized her, but then her mannerism sparked my memory (from like nearly 10 years ago), and details were coming back as I continued to dance with her. I did NOT say anything to her, I just walked away after the song b/c I remembered the drama that had taken place from our previous time.

I’m making a little progress. Logistics and being too close to home slows progress. I do what I can for now but I know it’s not enough.

[Doing this with not a smile on my face because I’m nervous – not even sure it came off right]

Me: [Thinking about asking for her number and got nervous and Ejected because I thought I looked needy and wasn’t giving off a fun vibe]

Gio is not kidding when he says 'Dress Better.' This year I have been getting tons of compliments in bars, on the street from random women about my style. Even married women who just want to know where to shop for their husbands [altho some of them were using that as an opener...]

Even though it was choppy and not smooth, I just thought about what Mark Manson said about letting your intentions show and just be vulnerable upfront. Wasn't sure how to segueway out of the fact that I wanted to meet her. She was super young looking and I got the vibe that she was flattered but also pretty nervous. She was smiling and pleasant and I love the fact that I've been scared to death of doing something like this, and yet it felt 100x better than doing some bullshit indirect approach where I pretend to care about her headphones.

Great approach Checkmat , One suggestion...... even though your approach was short and there was no connection developed you should have asked her for number so that you guys can continue the conversation over drinks etc.

I did lots of approaches y'day at the nightclub, some went well too, but I made the mistake of not even asking for the number.

Here's the details of one of them:

Two girls, one 7 and one 3 sitting on a table with a third chair empty. I go and ask, "Hi, is this chair taken?" They say no, so I sit down on it.

Me (to the 3): Looks like you guys are having a lot of fun.
She doesn't reply. But the 7 does. So I continue talking with the 7.

I make some comments about the music etc. Then we start playing the "where are you from" game.
I try to guess where she's from, but guess incorrectly. In the end she tells me she's from Toronto. I live in Waterloo, 1.5 hours from Toronto. It would've been an easy guess.
Then she asks me where I am from and I ask her to guess. She says, "India?" I have a slight Indian accent since I spent the first 18 years of my life in India, so it's usually not hard to guess this. Also, I'm brown.
Me: Woah, how did you know?
Her: You have a slight accent.
Me: Wow, you must have practised your Waterloo accent very well. I couldn't tell you're from Toronto.
Her: Laughs.

The 3 cockblocks now and says something to the 7 about how they should meet the other guys. The 7 turns to me, says nice meeting you, and they leave. I didn't ask for her number.

I had two more similar sets. I should start ending the conversation with a number-request.


Anyway, today two girls approached me in the elevator in my building. My roomie, I and the two girls went in together, I pressed 7, they pressed 17 and at around floor 4 they say, "Hey, you guys." I reply with a hey. At 5 they say, "So what are you guys doing tonight?" I was not "on" at the time and before I could process what was going on, the elevator stopped and my roomie got out saying good night to those girls. I drew a blank and so just said something lame like, "there's nothign to do here" and I got out too. Immediately after getting out, my head was hit with a deluge of ideas for the things I could've said. Even, "Nothing, just jerking off and going to sleep, wanna join?" was worth trying. Anyway, I metaphorically kicked myself in the nuts for the rest of the evening.

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I did my first ever gym approach today.

I've chatted up girls working out next to me. Sometimes they chat me up. That's different.

This was the first time I saw a girl across the room, and she stirred something in my loins that caused me to directly approach her. My gym is completely wide open with shitty bright, fluorescent lighting. It's not exactly a comfortable environment for approaching. On top of it, this sounds like a cop-out but the gym is my temple. I go there to forget about everything in the outside world; work, money, girls, making it big, all that worldly bullshit. The gym is my place to stare at a piece of heavy metal and pick it up. Well...this girl's ass was that good. Couldn't ignore it.

Very cute latina, kind of flat chested, but a very toned, thin waist leading down to a phenomenal bubble butt, the kind of ass that instantly gets you excited thinking about bending her over.

We locked eyes several times while she was doing lat pulldowns and I was doing pullups. She kept looking over at me. The entire time I was thinking, "If I approach this girl this shit is in the bag". Stupid me.

She goes over and starts doing flies with her older, fatter friend. Even as I'm walking over she's staring at me. When she realizes I'm walking up to her she looks away shyly, and I introduce myself. Her English is subpar so I switch to Spanish, and she perks up and looks right at me. We banter back and forth, she's being defensive and kind of bitchy, and I say, "I've got to get going now, how about you give me your number." And she refuses. I look at her sternly saying, "Why not?" She's married. I started teasing her, saying, "Por que me estabas dando los ojos?" and she was shocked, started laughing and looking away from me at her friend. "Dumb broad" I thought to myself and left.

If I was at a bar I probably would have pushed harder but pushing a married chick for her number in front of her friend at the gym seemed like an unlikely outcome. Still, I got that little high from doing something that made me uncomfortable, and I would have highly regretted had I done nothing.

I've done long, drawn-out interactions at coffee shops and shopping malls, but something about the gym makes me just want to go for the number asap and eject.
