Brick, you float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. That was just expert.

PS: I have a strong spidey sense that "cawa" is the formerly banned "A.S." It will be interesting to see how long he lasts this time before being banned again.

you are very welcome. i've been reading this forum for more than half-a-decade, so throwing some moolah roosh's way seemed appropriate!

Apparently I still remind them of how small their dicks are.

To 911, Merc, and the rest of you who've put in a good faith effort here (including the guy who mentioned refraction in detail): thank you.

YW Hoser.

Have you flown a fighter jet? Maybe you can ask one of your Air Force buddies who did fly an F-15, which has an operational ceiling of 65,000'. At those altitudes, you should definitely see the earth curvature from a 360deg bubble canopy. The ceilings of the F-16 and F-18 are a bit lower at around 50,000', but I think that's still high enough to see the curvature.

I think even passenger jet pilots might be able to see a hint of the earth curvature from the vantage of their cockpit panoramic view at their lower cruising altitudes. You can't see it as a passenger though, because the windows don't provide wide enough of an angle.

I've been real supportive through the first 200 posts of this thread, going out of my way to explain how he's being played by the FE shills, the same way one would towards a friend who is in a cult or in a horrible dead-end relationship. And sometimes in this situation when reasoning over and over again fails, you have to try to shake a guy out of his stupor, and frustration takes over... so no harm meant Merc, and sorry for the harsh tone.

Could it be your patronizing attitude ?

I've only been on here for a year (to the day, it turns out!). There is
a local get together in the plans for the summer that I plan on making.

On being patronized: I guess that's my engineering background speaking.
I attended one of the top universities in the world, and that kind of training
gives you a strong sense of confidence when arguing
bout basic scientific facts. You're very knowledgeable on
many subjects Merc, and have made great contributions
on the JFK thread, but you're a bit out of your element here
due to your lack of a training in physics, maths and science.

As well, how can I not be patronizing when I have
these guys on my side, some of the greatest minds in history:

Haha yes, Eric Dubay is an easy target, and is among those who have embraced some really crappy arguments for FE. He doesn't understand flight ("Pilots never correct for the sloping away of the earth!"... as they shouldn't have to...).

Possibly my least favorite argument of his is how mountain streams flow downhill, on both sides of the ocean, but the ocean is still "higher" in the middle (according to ball earth explanations) than at the coasts. I have to shake my head and say "Yeah, dude, gravity doesn't pull 'down', it pulls toward the center of mass...hence the curved oceans are legit if gravity is and the Earth is rounded"

He also says that FE is THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION facing humanity today, because it is the bedrock on which almost all modern Globalist lies are founded. That smacks of zealotry more than passion for the truth.

911, I've been in the cockpit at 35,000 feet, but not 65,000. However much curvature I noticed, I was way too never-heard-of-flat-earth-theory to scritinize it.

I have some buddies who fly F-18s, and I'll try to work in the question if it ever comes up organically, but I'm not keen on bringing it up out of the blue. Even if they said "Yep, curved as much as my own asscheek" some FE adherents would chalk it up to the convex-shaped glass (er, polymer).

BTW, it is true that the fisheye lenses that many portable cameras use distort the horizon. Watching Felix Baumgartner's descent from 130,000(?) feet, you can see that the horizon curves the wrong way (concave, or curving "up" at the edges) just as much as it curves the other way, depending on the direction of his tumbling.

It would be gratifying to be able to compare the same footage side-by-side with a straight lens. Perhaps settle this once and for all?

The photos of Felix Baumgartner are all totally contradictory:

Curved
(with black outer space)

[Image: Felix-Baumgartner.ashx?w=650&h=366&as=1]

Curved ?
(with blue horizon)

[Image: felix-baumgartner-standing-in-his-capsul...o-dive.jpg]

Curved
(with black outer space and different camera types above his head than the other photos)

[Image: Felix-Baumgartner-Space-Jump-600x900.jpeg]

Flat
(with blue skyline)

I'm sure he jumped from somewhere, but the gaping differences in these images is not reassuring.

Well it's already settled, seriously, it's only an issue for some on the internet.

I think a lot of the variation in the oceans' altitude boils down to the lunar tidal forces.

Dubay is a cult leader, I don't think he really believes in FE. From what I've picked up, it looks like he and others are into some kind of masonic mindfuck psyop, many of them are also paid shills who have fed the hoax. And then there are others who have bought into it wholesale and are zealously spreading the disinfo.

I haven't been inside a fighter jet, but the canopy is clear, there shouldn't be any distortion if you're looking at the horizon perpendicularly through the canopy. Bubble canopies like those of the F16 were designed to maximize viewing angles while minimizing distortion.

Yep, it's slightly curved, but you would see it more clearly on a large monitor, and it's only slightly curved because the viewing angle is pretty narrow.

I actually believe Dubay is sincere, not a shill. He even rebukes the "Flat Earth Society", which came about several years after his own IFERS, as a shilling disinformation operation designed to discredit his and others' work.

Sincere, of course, does not mean correct, but I do feel for the guy, having to bear the weight of others' dishonesty.

If 911 is still in the bay area I'm also fairly close to there if he ever wants to meet up. We could use the time to discuss how silly flat earth is, or share stories related to game tard that would kill the character assault you just had.

I'm no longer there combo, but I'm overdue for a visit, there is a Mission burrito that's been calling my name for a while... Hopefully they haven't deported all the pendejos behind the counter at El Farolito yet.

Hoser, i doubt Dubay is sincere, his double bluff schtick of attacking everything under the sun to make himself look like a truth warrior is pretty transparent, it would have been pretty funny if it didn't snare so many people.

From just one random Youtube video of his, check out what one of his "fans" wrote as a comment:

Quote:Hi Eric, I have watched and listened to allot of your videos over and over again. i just want to tell you. I know what you say is the truth, its clear from how you talk. and how confident you are in what you say.

I hope you keep making these videos. as you seem to be the only 1 I've come across that actually tells it how it is. no B/S. Just truth.

I believe your name will go down in history as a person who believed in what he said, and proved it right to everyone who has been taught wrong.

Some day i hope everyone can understand.

Please. Never change.

It reads like a badly written fake letter of recommendation. And right under this comment (in a video that got hundreds of thousands of views and tons of comments), Dubay responds, on cue:

+Tinyman24 Thanks so much man, I really appreciate those kind words. Peace

Laugh

911: point taken. Judge a tree by its fruits, sure, I get that, and the guy does produce some bad fruit. I still don't think he's displayed any evil motives.

I've watched a few hours of his content and listened to interviews, even on topics unrelated to FE (Wing Chun self defense, meditation, for example). He really pins the needle when it comes to sounding sincere.

I suspect he is misguided, and in many areas uncritical, but in no way have I seen any malevolence in the man. Instead, he strikes me as someone of extremely average intelligence who is in over his head fighting too zealously for a suspect cause.

Finally, re the YouTube quote: similarly, I view it through the lens of "these poor people", not "that scheming fraud!" The comment sounded sincere, considering the demographic it came from, perhaps someone who dropped out of high school when she got pregnant.

Many men deserve a hard smackdown. Many such men are arrogant flat-earthers (see for example Captain Obvious---more like Captain LDS---on YouTube, who I pray is not the same guy as the prolific Heartiste commenter). Dubay just doesn't ping my radar as such a man. I think there's hope for him, if he's willing to be humble about it.

More condescending language toward me.

Let's see now 911....you have taken Newton, Galileo and other famous scientific minds on your side in this debate, falsely accused me of supporting Dubay who I have never mentioned in my posts, claimed an engineering background and supposed top university education, while also repeatedly stating you want to "help me" not be misled by false controlled opposition conspiracies.

Yet, at the same time, I notice you read, support, and repeatedly link on RVF to the articles and thoughts of one of the most fanatical notorious conspiracy theorists out there known as Henry Makow.

Henry Makow ?
Really 911 ?
The jew who left judaism ?

Henry makow, the man who claims the beatles were illuminati controllers, and jews secretly worship satan, thinks science is masonic mind control, and physics is fake & gravity is a figment of Newtonian disinformation, and also believes the limo driver (William Greer) shot JFK ?

But of course, Makow also claims that Flat Earth is a Judeo Masonic (Satanic) Psy Op and that the flat earth propaganda is also run by the same illuminati who probably controlled the beatles in the 1960s.

911, you have directly linked to (nutjob ? shill ?) Henry Makow on no less than 7 different occasions:

I'm glad you have a top tier scientific education 911...might want to brush up on your classical education sometimes. I suggest starting with the myth of Icarus, who got his wings burnt when he tried to reach the sun because of his own excessive hubris, which is what will happen to you if you continue claiming the moral & rational scientific high ground in this debate while repeatedly insulting people who disagree with you.

You are religous 911 - am I right ?
You know that excessive pride is one of the 7 deadly sins.

I don't get that impression at all. I have also watched a lot of his other content and you can see he practices what he preaches. He seems adept with his physical practice and a lot of his material has a message that resonates with this forum i.e self-improvement. He talks about quitting your slave job, being self-sufficient and understanding the cultural war on traditional values. Why would a shill be in Thailand eating fruits and teaching meditation, it just doesn't make any sense.

He is just an extremely zealous conspiracy theorist and like all of them he has a high distrust of authority. The next logical target was the scientific community and he does link most of the big geniuses for example Newton to freemasonry. I think there is a crave for always bigger conspiracies. He isn't ignorant of the current scientific model as he clearly reiterates it every video. It is just that he chooses to rely on rather esoteric texts such Zetetic astronomy as the base for his "alternative" position. I don't doubt his sincerity, however misguided, for one second. If you watch him live on skype interviews like his latest one with Eddie Bravo you will realize how fast on his feet he is.

Inferring a lower intelligence because of a worldview someone adopts is exactly how the Left orchestrates character assassination with name tags: global warming deniers, holocaust denier, racist, islamophobe, ect...

1_ Yes, this is one of the key assumptions. All of the Apollo missions were faked. They maintain the same position for all of space footage such as the ISS and other space agencies. They say it is faked and some staged underwater with footage showing air bubble coming out of the astronaut's suit. The claim is that humans cannot exit low-earth orbit as the Van Allen belt would prevent any space travel

2_ They say all planets and stars are simply light sources as seen from telescopes they are bright and colorful. The moon is said to be semi-transparent as apparently stars have been seen through it and recorded. Also, the moon is supposed to be rotating just like the earth however you never see the dark side of the moon which they conclude means that the moon is not a sphere. It is also said to emit its own light which is cold unlike sun-light.

Ok, but what about planets visible by telescope, are they round or flat and are they nearer than what we commonly think?

It's a good question and I am planning a longer post illustrating some interesting theories on what flat earth proponents have to say regarding telescopes, planets, satellites and meteorites.

Suffice to say, what you see though a telescope yourself with your own eyes is often very different to what NASA tells you you are looking at....even if the telescope is a professional high powered one.

Hopefully, I can put up the theories, photos and materials in the next 24 hours, to open it up for discussion.

On a more ironic note, one of the most powerful telescopes in the world (run by the Vatican ?) was orignally called LUCIFER until they changed the name to LUCI.
