Open carry rifle guy was attention whoring, and he got his attention. What's to feel sorry about?

I think individual citizens should be able to buy just about any weaponry short of WMDs (real WMDs, as in NBC weapons) but I still think it's retarded to walk around a city with a rifle in hand. Why do it, if it's peacetime? I carried a rifle more than I care to remember in the army and it's a fucking pain in the ass to cart one around 24/7. Everything is harder to do with a slung rifle.

If I wanted to have more than a pistol ready in public, I would carry a compact rifle in a discrete case. Except 99% of the time if I feel like I'm going to need a rifle for defense someplace, I'd rather just not even be there.

Kinda empty platitudes though, isn't it? Let's all just "come together". What does that mean? This is little more than a wish, a call for a miracle, that will magically wash away the conflicts we know that exist between different groups in society. Those conflicts will not wash away by platitudes. Platitudes are grieving noises, they are not solution statements.

Problems like this are disliked by us, the citizens in the streets. But they are not disliked by those competing for power. Pot-stirring is generally a good idea if you want to attain more power than you have. This is why Obama uses it to talk crap about guns, this is why some black group-identity leaders will use it to boost their claims of group victimhood, this is why Trump and others on the right will use it advocate greater police powers. As the saying goes "never let a good crisis go to waste". Another might be "the more crises the more moves I can make on the political chessboard".

These actions are flash-points coming from the same mixture:
- Leftist identity-victim politics, crapping on about imaginary one-directional racism, sexism etc. This stokes discontent and battle-mentality between different groups, rather than allowing the natural "reaching an understanding" that normally takes place. It also demoralizes these communities because they feel (falsely) that they can never get ahead by themselves.
- Right-wing knuckleheads who's answer to dissent again the law is "make the enforcement of the law more vicious". If they stopped prosecuting victimless crimes like drugs, communities that disproportionately use drugs wouldn't feel such (rightful) animosity towards the enforcers of those laws.

You'll have to magically get rid of both of those aspects if you want stuff like this to disappear, but it won't because ultimately the occurrence of these crises is entrenched in the interests of the highest halls of power.

Best bet is likely decreased political centralization, enacted by an Article 5 convention to reduce federal power. The less democracy, and the more republic, the less carrot there is available to the divisive power-hungry psychopaths.

Here's a fact: in the aftermath of one of these shootings, it often takes a couple days for things to settle down and the "truth" to be known.

Another fact: the NRA is often attacked by the left.

Why should the NRA make itself vulnerable by defending some random ass guy before all the facts are in? What if the guy turns out to have been part of it, and he chickened out? The NRA goes to bat for him, then the world finds out he's actually a terrorist. Yeah, that would look awesome.

Why should they? He did the appropriate thing by turning himself and his weapon in, to clear his name, since he was a suspect. How could he not have been suspect? Attending a protest with a rifle out in the open, shit goes down, so everyone suspected the dude with the gun.

The only reason the NRA should get involved, is if his actual rights get violated, like if the department decides to keep his gun. No need to get in on this already huge clusterfuck.

I like his videos, though I've only watched a few, and only because they showed up in the 'recommended for you' section. Very clear speaking, very distinct ideas that he gets across quickly and to the point.

edit; Like in that video, the last thing he says, "[comment about virtue signaling]... they don't matter, but their dead bodies sure do help the stats." Main point, easy to digest idea, put out quickly and cleanly.

I am aware. Refusing to police the event would show the general public the lawlessness of the black power (hidden behind BLM) movement. The business owners could easily file a claim on the property section of their GL. Small price to pay to help MAGA.

Thats Colion Noir (YouTube Page), he started as a commentator/gun reviewer and the NRA recently snapped him up. He is knowledgable, charismatic, to the point, and absolutely shatters the narrative.

This is an older video but relevant for the discussion that he has re: dividing and vilifying gun owners. Edit: Also some hotties in this vid.
