Yeah, I'm aware a lot of young guys are doing it, and I get the practicality - I wasn't trying to put YD on the spot. Like I said, I'm not hating, but the fact that everyone is doing it doesn't change my take on it any.

Me back in Manila Banana

Okay, but do you live here? Forcing your body to do something it doesn't necessarily want to for extended periods of time is not always a wise idea. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of young guys who do this these days don't find themselves dependent on it as they get even just a little bit older.

Generally you're on point.

Personally though, I've given up the hope for a balanced life a very long time ago..

Thanks for the info. 50 to 100k plus condo, gifts, bills? Wow. I'm doing amazingly well with my online business, but that's beyond even me.

Last night was having some local brandy in the street with the old timers in the neighborhood that surrounds my little hotel. These old Filipino fellers are like the elders of the block - kids come riding by on bikes sometimes when we're conversating out there and stop to get their blessings. The guy living there says he's been right there chilling since about 1957, apparently watching Makati spring up around him over the years.

All up this particular road there were a few tables of people just casually drinking, as tends to happen in SEA. And some snatcher grabbed a cell phone out of a girl's hand in a jeepney and just so happened to run up our lane with a couple young men in hot pursuit, hollering that he was a thief. Old dudes sprang to action and let the entire street know.

I guess he chose the wrong road for his getaway. With all the tables of boozers, young and old, drinking along the way, no way was he getting through. They tackled him and gave him a good pummeling before dragging him right around the corner to the police station.

I got up for a sec to check it out but then just went back to my chair and kept on keeping on until the old timers came back. Always best for a foreigner to sit it out when he can.

Funniest part though was the most wasted guy from our table uppercutting the wrong person in the face, the one that had the snatcher in a headlock, about three or four times before everyone explained to him he was hitting the wrong guy. Big Grin I guess when your eyes are half shut and you can barely walk it isn't easy to land punches on the right target, but the youngster he was hitting just shook it off with a smile.

Good times in the hood. Always nice to see a little street justice bringing down the hammer without going too far.

These fucking teams of real estate hucksters they put together to wander around trying to sell overpriced condos to foreigners in coffee shops...

"No thanks, I'm not in the market to buy property."

"Why not?"

"Uh, because I don't have money to buy property right now."

"Oh, you're jooooking me. Of course you do."

"No, really. I don't."

"I don't believe that, Sir."

Believe it or not, my white skin doesn't immediately put me in a position to buy property on a whim whenever I want to...

Or one day in Davao this big tittied agent wouldn't leave me alone and I was starting to get impatient. Finally, girl says, "But Sir, this is a really good investment!" Never mind that I wasn't looking for an investment...

"Oh...? You sure about that?"

"Absolutely!" Rattles on some points from her canned pitch.

"Well, that's nice. But I'm not looking for real estate now. And even if I was, I wouldn't come to YOU for real estate investment advice."

"But why not?"

"Because you're a real estate agent, for one. And because I can do my own research about what's a good investment and what isn't."

I don't think she liked that one very much. I'm guessing I was the first person to point out that her last-minute license and a strong desire to sell her first property didn't exactly qualify her to hand out investment advice.

I'm usually very patient with people, but that starts to wear down when someone won't stop trying to sell me something I'm not shopping for.

Well, that's one reason, among others, why the hookers you mentioned in the Angeles thread would rather hold out for Korean guys. Those guys are way more accustomed to and willing to play the provider game than your average punter from the West.

I wouldn't ever fork out that kind of dough for a broad either but you almost can't blame them for playing it for all they can get. They're already whores ("sponsored" girls included); might as well maximize the perks and income.

RandomGuy - You said 9.5 so I'm thinking a type of woman that is stunning, can place in a top pageants, make good money modeling and likely has many suitors lined up, if she's that type of girl.

Assuming you want to go for the arrangement method you can get a 7-8 girl for less I'm sure. Move her into your place, give her 20k+ a month, take her to islands, buy her some clothes, etc.

I have a plate who was offered to live in the nicest building in BGC, get a bank card with 25K a month, free food, clothes, free yoga/gym, trips, etc., by a local 50 year old guy. She turned him down and works a normal job for like 20K and I still see her weekly. She's a 7-8 with a great personality and very family orientated. I kind of feel bad stringing her along. She's among the handful of girls that I've dated here that are LTR material, for me at least.

There are loads of local and foreign guys here seeking arrangements. It sucks for guys like me that won't pay to play, but it is what it is. Also, many girls in arrangements will fuck an alpha when that suitor isn't looking. I love it when a girl just stares at me in front her old fat suitor haha.

Yeah it's funny how guys complain about how thirsty American men are and how entitled that makes the women there. But it's mind blowing what guys out here will do to keep a legit hottie at their side.

At the end of the day, if you can bring something else to the table and don't put women on a pedestal you still have something different to offer her that a sugar daddy can't, just like back home.

Apparently he really did choose the wrong street then. They must just be real hard asses in this neighborhood. I've wandered into my share of local rumbles elsewhere in SEA and just seemed like biz as usual to me, but I'm still new here, of course. Glad to see someone is taking the snatchers on anyways. They must get sick of it.

Don't ever think you are safe with those shotgun toting security guards standing around either. I once saw a bunch stand around and blow whistles while a guy snatches a girls phone AND purse running towards the exit..and down the street. This was at a very popular SM mall too. Noone gives a fuck in the Philippines.

Life is cheap and so is yours in this country.

Hi, I'd like to know your opinion about Malate and Makati. I'd like to rent an apartment in Malate near La Cafe or in Makati near Greenbelt for 24 days. I'm undecided. I already know Makati is a better area, OK, but I'd like to know: where are there more girls between Malate and Makati? Where is it possible to meet more beautifull girls between Malate and Makati? How much cheaper is Malate than Makati for live and fucking? Where would you stay between Malate and Makati for 20 days? I will reach Manila only to fuck freelancers or regular girls. Reply me please only if you know fine both places.

@GoodKindMan: Makati. The logistics are impeccable.

Where your place is literally makes or breaks the date.

I think it's because so many people are hearing about the so-called Sex Havens that places like the Philippines can be, and they want to join a piece of the action - understandably.

I also think that the forum has moved past the notion of "give before you take", in that people will ask advice before giving insights into specific places etc. Others are taking advice in the hope of posting their findings on the forum in future, which I don't take issue with. For other members though I can see it as being a bit of a kick in the teeth, as newbies are getting info for free whereas the others had to work and supply information before receiving it.

But the Phils thread really is a hive of information of different techniques, logistics, and mind-games of Filipinas. I'm currently considering it for a holiday abroad option next year, along with China and 2nd/3rd tier USA.

Now that I think about it I can remember at least one instance where Filipinos fought back. Some of my staff work US hours. One night after midnight, about a year ago, I'm talking with one via Hangouts and I can hear screaming in the background. He says that somethings going out front of his neighbor's house and he's gonna go check it out.

About 20 minutes later he calls me back and says the neighbors caught a thief who had broke in via an upstairs window. A couple of the guys in the house woke up and got a hold of the fucker. From there they dragged him out front of the house and were beating him senseless. He said some other neighbors where getting in on it because this guy was a known thief in the area.

Thieves coming into houses at night while people are sleeping is normal here. Another girl I know had a roommate wake up to a man in their kitchen. The girl woke up but was out of it and approached the man, thinking it was her roommate. As she approached the thief was trying to calm her, saying shit like 'it's ok, just go back to sleep'. When the girl finally came to and realized that wasn't her roommate standing in front of her she freaked out, screamed, and woke the entire building up. The guy panicked and fled and was never caught. The girls thought maybe some neighbors set them up, much like the girl who was dragged in my previous post.

There are just tons of stories like that here. You'll notice many of the victims think they were set up by neighbors.

Outside of breaks in and theft I've meet a girl that watched her uncle, who was a local politician, get shot in the head while having dinner. I've meet two girls who had brothers murdered. One of these guys tried to break up a knife fight and the attacker came after him and killed him.

The Phils is generally safe for us foreigners but after being here for awhile you'll start to hear the stories. Nearly everyone here has been touched by violent crime and certainly theft. There's a reason the middle class and up live in gated and guarded neighborhoods, and even then theft still happens. Kidnapping is big here too. My employees view the Philippines as hopelessly crime ridden and have zero faith in the law.

But I always have to remind myself that back in the USA growing up I've seen my sister robbed at gun point, our house and cars broken into, etc., and many cities in the Phils have lower crime rates.

And yeah, El Chinto, I have no faith in these guards. I'm not convinced their guns work or are even loaded haha. Seems like you're on your own if attacked in most situations.

Alright, I'll stop putting a damper on the pussy paradise theme. Laugh

To put things in perspective, I see a shooting in the news almost everyday in the city I live in now.

When I was younger, around college age, I was mugged at gun point. And where did this happen? In Washington, DC - of all places... and it wasn't even in a bad neighborhood.

For sure, but just looking at the numbers for example you'll see the murder rate here is double, and I don't even believe those numbers. After you've been to a number of gov offices here you won't believe anything the government says lol.

Crime nationwide is way up too: http://www.philstar.com/metro/2015/08/03...me-rate-46

And they say the robbery rate here is 9 per 100000. It's laughable how poorly they report crime here.

Your point is taken but the Philippines is on another level from the USA, and I grew up in a rougher area. At least in the States someone might try solve a case.

YardDog and other Phils residents, what's your assessment of crime level in Manila compared to Cebu and other places in the Philippines. One of the girls told me that Cebu is safer than Manila. I haven't spent enough time in the Philippines to make my own assessment, but I would say it is very safe in places like the Fort in Manila and IT park in Cebu. Also, shopping malls like Greenbelt and Ayala are "green zones" where I felt very safe as well.

Compared with other countries, I felt much safer in the Philippines than in South America (Colombia and especially Brazil). Indonesia is supposed to be safer than the Philippines, but I didn't notice much difference between Jakarta and Manila in terms of safety. Thailand and Vietnam seemed safer than the Philippines. Cambodia seemed more dangerous.
El Chinito loco 路 2015-12-14 21:40:00 路 #2446
Justice is only served by what you can pay for or take out on your own through your family network in the Philippines. There really is no justice for the poor in most cases. The courts are ridiculous in the P.I. too and even minor civil cases get dragged out for years.

This is another reason so many business or political disputes end with violence. It's easier to arbitrate with lead. It reminds me of the saying "plata o plomo" in Colombia. In some provinces it's like Sicily in the 1960's. Minor politicians and bureaucrats get murdered while attending funerals for people who got murdered. It's actually gotten a little better now, I think it was actually worse a few years ago.

The Philippines can be a deceptively dangerous place because on the exterior everything is kind of 1980's cheerful and goofy. It's unlikely to effect a tourist but there's quite a few guys who forget where they are and wind up dead. Just don't stir up shit in the P.I. and keep the girl and other drama to a minimum. You never know what could happen and your embassy wouldn't give a fuck either.

I would say Cebu is safer than Manila. Petty crime stats are probably similar but there is just less desperate poverty and population density in Cebu. You don't get as many scenarios with guys with bandanas over their faces running into malls and robbing all the jewelry counters like it's the wild west.

I'd rank the countries like this ordered from most to least crime

1. Philippines
2. Vietnam
3. Cambodia
4. Thailand
5. Indonesia

I put Vietnam as #2 because petty crime is pretty abundant and out of control there. Purse snatching, phone snatching, and burglary is common. Violent crime is pretty rare though.

Thailand can be pretty wild sometimes too and if you get into trouble there you will also be dealing with a useless (or maybe extortionate) police force and court system. Although it's a bit better than the P.I.

I'd agree with what El Chinto just wrote and your gut seems correct.

I lived in Cebu before moving to Manila and I think the petty crime is even less than Manila but still very prevalent. There's were stories that in the late 90s officials in Cebu rounded up and murdered criminals much like Duterte did. I have no idea if those are true.

I didn't mean to give the impression with my post that Manila is dangerous for a foreign guy. I was just looking to share some real examples of what crime looks like here, like BB did. You know the deal on staying out of trouble wherever you are.

I agree about Latin America as I lived there before moving to Asia. It seemed like in LA there are loads of scams that directly target tourists whereas in Manila I haven't seen that, unless the people know one another.

Not disagreeing with the previous posters, but a short story ..

In Cebu a couple of years ago I was "seeing" a local girl who worked in a jewellery store which had 3 locations.
Apparently, at one of the other locations, 2 or 3 guys came in wielding machetes, smashed the glass displays and grabbed most of the stock.
I asked her what their armed guard did. She said "oh, he just ran away".
Beyond Borders 路 2015-12-15 05:31:00 路 #2450
^ Yeah, I think that's pretty common. I mean, can you blame them? I doubt they're being paid enough to put their lives on the line or to bother taking someone else's. Haha
