Yes, the Republicans are having trouble in this area, speaking merely as an outside observer from Canada.

I would think Dan Crenshaw, 34, from Texas (the fellow who got mocked for losing an eye on SNL) has the opportunity to be this analogue for the GOP. He's also far less prone to gaffes than AOC and presents really well in front of an openly hostile media. He hasn't got the social media engagement, however. It doesn't mean that can't be built up.

NYC - More desirable women and men. Lots of good looking chicks (entertainment, model, fashion, music, creative industry hub) and many faggots/soyboys. Absurd cost of living keeps away more finance/business sensible or limited men from living there. NYC attracts good looking women from all over the US and the world. In NYC, women openly acknowledge how much leverage men have and feel pressured to look presentable/good. Have a spine and no vocal fry, look sort of presentable, and can be a bit fun? You're banging that night.

DC - More desirable men than women. Tons of guys with good paying secured jobs, prestigious sounding titles, massive IT/military industrial complex industry hub (male-dominated industries). DC attracts women from all over the US and world but usually of the gender studies/feminist or overly academic and not good looking type. In DC, the women feel like flip flops, a cold sore on their lip, and having a muffin top warrants and entitles them to a $200K+ ivy league graduate. The guy also better have washboard abs and work in a prestigious job that also appeals to her sense of ethics and progressive values. And you better have voted for Hillary or the date is over.

I'm not so sure Riley is in as much trouble as you think.

Guys that tall with that right kind of white guy look are rare in DC, too. It's just that the women in DC are of much lower quality than NYC.

Also, the super wealth that you have in NYC does not really exist very much in DC. Yes, the majority of the USA's 10 wealthiest counties are here, but you do not have the the volume of the ultra high paid like NYC. Oddly, in a sense DC is more "equal" in that way.

She could probably upgrade power wise, but not as much as you might think wealth wise. Looks wise at best she could make a lateral move. And unless Riley comes from old WASP money, she clearly did not pick him for his power or wealth.
