The MCU is a big ship. If it turns towards Tumblr type content (as per the Marvel comic books).
It may take time to scuttle said ship.
Or it may go down faster than the Titanic...

It looks like this film is going to at the very least break even and not bomb like Soylo. A shame.
What I'm wondering, though, is how on Earth anybody's excited for this, especially when it's such an unknown hero.

I do like me a good superhero movie occasionally... but I have never been interested in seeing the rest of the MCU after I saw both Avengers titles and wasn't impressed. I have not seen Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, or any of the others and I don't care.

People have actually wasted time watching over 20 films of this capeshit? I watched every James Bond film in order around 2015 and THAT was exhausting. I can't imagine following a franchise that's almost required viewing if you want to talk to other NPCs.

Drives me nuts that nearly every screen in the theatres here in Manila is showing this film. And their standard for cinema is so low they don't see through the BS either.

I'm no investor but I know enough to understand that breaking even isn't acceptable. Your assets are supposed to perform to a certain level or you are indeed hemorrhaging that most valuable asset of all. Time.

An incredibly valuable asset (Marvel character + brand) that performs this poorly is a huge loss, even if it breaks even financially or makes a few hundred mil. It would be like your accountant telling you that after ten years of investing your 100 mil it was still worth... 100 mil. You'd throw him through the damn window.

But as I've said before, the investment these bastards are making is in the dissolution of our culture and the foundations of our civilization. What they get out of the equation can't be measured by bean counters.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

If the reaction to the film is that negative from anyone not already with the message then that’s a bad investment too.

Break even is between $425-475 million - $152 production budget with ~$70 million ad budget. They kept the budget under control (for a superhero movie) and apparently some of the ad budget is shared with Endgame. In any case, it's already at $455 million, everything from here on is profit. This might even cap a billion. This will be a big win - for investors, Brie and all hardcore SJWs. And look for CM to kill Thanos solo next month.

Big offensive in the MSM about how well it's doing; huge opening week-end etc. So what. Not many doubted it would open well, but the reviews are so mixed (even from true-believers), that a big drop-off is on the cards.

It's still a house of cards, for the simple reason that so many people are paying to see it purely as a form of cultural warfare. It could be two hours of total shit, but they will say they love it regardless. They aren't film-lovers, they are film-haters, watching stuff so they can tweet about it later to score points.

Besides, making money isn't everything, The Last Jedi made a load of money, but forever tarnished the SW brand. You can't even mention TLJ now on the internet without causing a shitshow. Marvel will make money for a while yet, until suddenly they don't.

It's a total echo-chamber, they are just making movies for themselves at this point. And all those poor blameless young boys who are innocently watching this garbage now, are going to really, really hate Marvel once the scales fall from their eyes in their teenage years as they begin thinking critically for themselves. Trust me, my teen son is living proof of this.

This. They are making a profit from their investment. They don't care about making money at this point.

This is what infuriates me. Most men are so pathetic they would rather castrate themselves just to see another MCU movie regardless of how the lead actress insults their very existence.

I understand that some men just don't keep up with current trends and don't know what their money is supporting, but a lot of "men" ignore it and continue to support this hate. At what point will they stand up for themselves and vote with their dollar?

Emasculation is now in Big Budget Hollywood movies and a lot of people are just too stupid to realize it and/or do anything about it.

RE: Boycott Brie Larson's, Marvel's MCU film - Captain Marvel.
Emasculation has not only been happening in movies but for quite some time in TV.

Big Bang Theory, Modern family etc all have been emasculating their male characters, turning them into pathetic, worst than beta, weaklings.

Many males view these shows, including those who are aware of the pathetic way that males are showed in these sitcoms. TV shows at least go on for a while and therefore they can be dropped at will by viewers. They can also be easily watched for free. No theater experience is needed.

So probably either of these two things are happening at the moment:

Either the majority of men, including red blooded, high T alphas have accepted that this is the correct portrayal of males and females,

or,

after watching movies such as Cap Marvel once, most males get a feeling of derision and seek the red pill.

I believe it is the former, since, most males have already accepted the pathetic caricature of masculinity and super empowerment of feminists in TV shows.

Therefore, that has translated into movies and most males are now fine with the same display in movies.

I even have real life examples. Last weekend I was talking to a friend who is going to a top 3 consulting firm. Although, he does seem a beta, he does keep a 'supposedly' strong mind towards women. A group of other friends joined us and we discussed what we should do over weekend. He suddenly told all of us to watch Cap Marvel. I immediately told him no and reasoned with him. I even mentioned that I used to be a fan of Marvel comics and its characters at one time but nothing would make me go watch this feminist tripe. But he wouldn't listen. This guy who is going to a top consultant firm could not accept rational talk. All he kept arguing was that it's marvel and some big character's beginning, so we all should see it.

Second example was when I was eating at a place and someone put a hand on my shoulder. It was an investment banker acquaintance who went to the same business school. After small talk I asked him where he and his buddy were coming from. He said that they had gone to see Cap Marvel and just got back. Trying to not show my disgust, I asked him how the movie was and he was like 'it was awesome. Great movie!'. I couldn't believe it. Even Investment Bankers are fine with what the movie and Brie stand for.

These experiences indicate to me that most men are fine with getting insulted and bitched slapped by feminists, metaphorically speaking. Some cases, probably, literally. They think that this is the correct way. Its the hip thing to do. Follow this in real life and it will lead to success.

Not many.
There's a whole bevy of YouTube videos showing stacks of female Star Wars action figures on discount / sale.
I can't see many young boys racing out to buy action figures of Captain Meh-vel.

Thor? Iron Man etc.? Sure. Yet not many for Cunty Danvers.

RE: Boycott Brie Larson's, Marvel's MCU film - Captain Marvel.
Saw it just now though I missed the first few minutes.

It's fine, basic Marvel stuff which is whatever. There's not much of a character arc for Captain Marvel / Carol Denvers, she just becomes into her powers and that's it. There's required progression where becoming better is necessary, like say in Thor where over the course of the movie he becomes worthy in spite of his flaws. She starts the movie as a great person, and ends the movie as a great person that also has incredible powers.

Brie Larson puts in a poor performance (pic related), though Samuel L Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn and Jude Law all do a good job.

They definitely learned not to repeat the mistakes of The Last Jedi, there was nothing nearly as egregious as Admiral Pink Hair lording over her ace pilot or the entire planet of wealthy arms dealers with a slave underclass. Just some minor things which is more or less standard fare for any movie made in the current year.

On a 5 star scale, I'd give it 2 to 2.5. It's an okay time-waster, not a must see by any means. If you're planning to see Endgame in cinemas you can definitely get away with just reading a plot summary online beforehand.

Surprisingly even one of my Berniebro Facebook friends posted saying that he found it mediocre and some of the feminist messages were a bit on the nose. It's getting that kind of reaction from its target audience.

A lot of things about this movie start making more sense when your realize that it's Air Force funded, so the real goal is to get more girls to sign up for the Air Force.

I watched it and it was pretty enjoyable and fun. I can see why it made so much money. Its under 2 hours so its not too long, and theaters can show it more times. It was funny and has some funny lines. I did watch it online so the quality wasn't as good but its a good enjoyable popcorn flick.

It kind a echoes Katy Perry's song from years ago, which managed to introduce more women into Army and Marines.

Brie Larson hasn't aged well at all. If you compare her to how she looked in Scott Pilgrim, she's lost her freshness in the last eight years or so.

I'm 31 now.

Frightening how girls I went to college with who were solid 7s and up are now 4s and 5s. Even the ones who didn't get fat. Father time is undefeated.

EDIT: Even if they didn't get fat they still aren't shaped right anymore.

Or they didn't read any of it to begin with because they don't read.

Here's a disturbing thought: The same low-information voters the Democrats are allowing into this country are also low-level entertainment consumers.

The changing demographics of the U.S. is a big reason intellectually stimulating movies and music are no longer popular. Instead, what rises to the top are dumbed-down, lowest common denominator comic book films and the one-chord "chants" masquerading as songs. It's as if we've become a nation of perennial 5-year-olds, with no grasp of subtlety and nuance.

I've written about this on here before. Another reason for the decline in quality of entertainment is that it's all now controlled by a few global conglomerates who need to simplify everything for non-English worldwide consumption.

Check the popular music and movies of the 1990s against what sells today and you'll be in for a rude awakening. This is something newspapers should be doing, but since they're also owned by conglomerates...

A man who studies violence - be it a soldier, an martial artist, or a boxer - starts off as an over-compensating brute, a wannabe 'tough guy', or even an actual tough guy who gets into pointless fights. As he matures, he realizes (TV Trope time) that he was only ever fighting himself; that violence should be a last resort, in self defence only, and he regrets all the people that he harmed over the years with his rash behaviour.

This is Deep Wisdom. It can't be taught, only earned.

Meanwhile, the soyboy is 'taught' the Deep Wisdom and completely fails to implement it properly. The warrior will become a gentle giant, and a force for peace; the soyboy will eschew any martial training, and become a pussy.

The system is offering young men an easy out - instead of earning their way to pacifism, they embrace it right off the bat. "Go ahead, cuck yourself!" the media says, "The women will only love you more for it!" And over the short term, yes - women love being around cucked betas. But over the long run the consequences are lethal.

RE: Boycott Brie Larson's, Marvel's MCU film - Captain Marvel.
I wonder how she reconciles the fact that the studio felt the need to hire a butt double for her with her SJW politics and feminist worldview.
