Just watched episodes 4 and 5.

They were very good.

SJW angle completely destroyed. Main female character is a villain now. Even the only black guy on the show is a villain now. Cool battles and effects and many characters sealing their fate in a fashion that suits them.

There were some nitpicks like Jamie surviving too long with critical wounds, but this is usual movie stuff even early episodes of GoT are guilty of such things.

The parlay scene was bad trough Daenerys going in range of scorpions with small number of men looked pathetic. But this small blunder didn't ruin the episode for me as everything else was good.

Some people complained about some Dothrki surviving. These are morons who didn't even watch episode 3 clearly where it showed a few Dothraki running back after most were killed. Blaming the show for your own lack of observation skills. Disgusting lot these unfounded critics are.

The argument about the effectiveness of scorpions vs dragons is also questionable, but it's easy to explain by surprise factor and Daenerys being fearful the first time and angry and determined the second time.

Of course it is easier to be a hater and just spit criticism. I am more disappointed with people then with the show actually. It just shows that no matter how good a show you make people will always dislike the ending because they think it must be similar to beginning which is impossible.

It was the same as with Star Wars prequels. People loved them but still talked shit to prove how smug they are. Wanted them to be just like original trilogy which is impossible. Of course Disney Star wars are shit no argument there.

I am getting disappointed people and even many forum members, much more then in the show. This show is high quality, obviously not perfect but it is much higher quality then 99% of things that gets made in latest decades. Why people play these games and shit talk it just to gain coolness points and proving they are so smarter. These people will never be satisfied.

Why can't it be both? Perhaps they should have focused on making it good so! They had twice the amount of time this season. If the character is to become a villian or hero, the proceedings must develop in a fairly coherent fashion that feels like it takes place in the same universe as the preceding seasons (as it slowly went on a downhill trajectory)

Few complained about Breaking Bad's ending! And it couldn't be more different from its beginning.

Some of the criticism is overblown, but the devolution of the series is striking. It turned into a comic book! The world felt larger inside these tents and rooms than anything we were shown in the last while with their now millions and millions of budget, you got the sense people weren't zipping around, your imagination gets exercised, there is a foreboding goes beyond the camera frame, that the world was spinning if you turned off an episode, great writing made the world feel larger and did more than all the genuinely fantastic CGI.

This 8 minutes in a single room is more intense and dramatic/dynamic than anything we've had in a long time.





















It feels like back in season 5, the producers were handed 3 episodes worth of story by Martin that constituted the ending of the book series (season 8), this was all they knew and could be sure of, it was the Lonely Mountain goal they had to aim for and keep their eye, of course Gandalf himself put the pin on the map (George RR Martin) left them partway and wished them luck fending for themselves but they had no idea how to get there on their own, despite have the practice of the earlier seasons.

^^I think there are two types of people who are unhappy with this season.

One is the SJW who is unhappy about the whole subversion of the feminist agenda and all that bullshit. These people I don't give a shit about, the show did nothing wrong.

The other is people like me who are unhappy because the show doesn't explain anything - what was Bran doing, why didn't the nightking have a more interesting ending (with an explanation or something), why weren't the battles more interesting (like battle of the bastards), etc.

The Star Wars prequels were shit but they were shit in a way that kind of withstood the test of time where people looked back fondly at stuff like Jar Jar Binks and sighed "that whacky Lucas, what was he thinking?"

The shitness became part of the lore. Dumb droids. Chinese bankers. Mitichlorins. The franchise had a big enough engine to carry that trash. The new Star Wars trash fucks directly with the engine (kill beloved characters, fuck the remaining ones up, etc) which is why it stalled and crashed.

GOT doesn't have the franchise engine to carry this trash, clearly. I'm watching this from the outside and it's still obvious. Trash like the finale of Dexter was shrugworthy because Dexter wasn't epic. GOT raised the bar on expectations and then just faceplanted into it. Even if they simply coasted into a win for the heroes and prison for the villains then people mightn't have been hyped but they also wouldn't be calling it a shitshow. It would also leave the door open for a new series down the road.

To me this looks like a pretty clear cut case of two hack writers who can't hold a candle to the OG so in a narcissistic tantrum they decide to "burn the whole thing down" as it were, for cheap shock effect. The dragon burning the city is a pretty visceral indication of that.

This season has me made realize something that I have been suspecting for a while now. While the source material's stick is being a bit edgy and nonconventional in terms of good/evil archetypes, the TV adapation takes it to a next level. It's constantly employs nihilistic and postmodern elements. Seemingly mature topics are being portrayed flamboyantly, not because they are mature, but because they are edgy and subversive. Sadly, at the end of the day it's just a different color of cultural marxism.

Let's go even deeper. Benioff and Weiss. They are both of the chosen people, a minority that is very present in the Media and Entertainment sector. Of course they love subversive and postmodern topics. They love the Schmaltz and Kitsch, and ultimately selling out for money.

I actually saw original Star wars when I was an adult for the first time just when first prequel episode was. (Because I actually was born in the motherfucking Soviet union, experienced the long lines for food, which I disliked, and Star Wars were not part of my childhood). So as someone for whom Star Wars is not childhood nostalgia I can tell that prequels are actually even slightly better then originals. I liked prequels more. Only way how originals look better is trough prism of nostalgia, which most western fans have.

Jar-jar was goofy all right, but I didn't mind. Btw I always suspected he was a secret "drunken master" before I even heard of the Lucas confirmed theory that he is a Sith Lord. So sad that Disney dropped Jar Jar due to fear of stupidest of fans getting outrageous if he would appear again. Would love him to reveal his true Sith colors in movies. Dumb droids were invented in original trilogy. In fact the first twenty minutes or so of the very first SW movie is all about those annoying droids. C3Po and R2D2 nnoyed me much more then Jar-jar and they had much more screen time in original trilogy then in prequels.

Dragon burning King's Landing has been foreshadowed since Season 1 when the mad king ( an ancestor of Daenerys) was killed because he kept giving orders "Burn them all". It's cool that it was not a wasted moment and that this burning actually happened. Were this just abandoned it would be a waste.

I liked the destruction of King's landing it was an awesome episode. Power, or more accurately the fear of loss of the power finally got to Daenerys and corrupted her.

Have you noticed how Cersei and Daenerys are so similar now - they both act more and more crazy the more of their children die. They both had 3 children. Their power rests on their children. For Cercei it's heirs and her power as Queen-mother. For Daenerys it's because her children are dragons, the most powerful military units out there. The more children they lose the more desperate and tyrannical they become.

I like this similarity. it makes them both really cool realistic female characters, not overpowered bland Mary sues like the new SW lead or captain marvel, but actual proper characters with depth and both light and dark side. I bet you critics of the show haven't even thought about it and didn't spot it, you just spot small errors to nitpicking and magnify.
