^^ Taekwondo is about as useful in a real fight as a rubber knife.

TKD is not a magical power, far from it, but as King bast said it, it's better than nothing - especially against an untrained opponent. Depending on the location a fight can take place and the distance between the TKD practictioner and the opponent, it can be a good tool. If the fight takes place in an elevator, though, good luck.

But the point still stands, if anyone thinks their black belt in whatever art is a deterrent to getting involved in a street fight, think again.

UFC guys, even heavyweights, often report guys wanting to fight them when they're in bars or clubs. And that's coming from guys who are better trained and more in shape than pretty much anyone here, have scar tissue on their faces, caulliflower ears, etc.

There's tons of people out there who are ignorant and/or crazy.

I think it was 1994 when the Ultimate Fighting Championship came out and Royce Gracie won the first couple of tournaments with pure BJJ versus various other arts. This began a big change in martial arts with many striking martial arts losing credibility and grappling arts gaining credibility.

After a while it changed a little and the martial arts that rose to the top were the ones that allowed sparring to be done at a level closest to reality - boxing, kickboxing, wrestling and bjj. For example, boxing and kickboxing can be practiced at a high level because of boxing gloves but it's hard to practice a chop to the neck or a spin kick to the head.

It's not that much difference than game. You can read forever, come up with all sorts of theories, and go through the motions but you only get good at what you practice.

Very confident in my abilities. Also fought amateur MMA in Canada for several years. But i guarantee one headkick is all it would've taken.
