Already happening. I got back into vinyl records around 2007, and any sale you went to would have the Boomer Rock stuff at a premium price, (maybe $15-20 per record). I mean, I remember a lady expecting me to pay $30 for a copy of 'Bat Out Of Hell', and it was trashed. Her comeback, "Well, it's rare." I said "One in three houses in Australia owned this record in the 70's".

Any 80's Rock and Pop would be a couple of bucks or less, (allowing me to buy records like 'Colour By Numbers' or 'The Gift' or 'Plastic Bertrand' or 'Suzanne Vega' or 'Pornography' or 'Mars Needs Guitars!' or 'Lincoln' for, say, a buck apiece).

Anything obscure or Indie from that decade was even less, so I'd buy both (1980's) Westworld albums for 10 cents each, and bought the '(Don't Go Back To) Rockville' 12 Inch for 50 cents.

90's rock on vinyl was a complete outlier, so I'd pay, a buck or less for records like 'Parklife', 'Altered Beast' or 'Adore'. I've got a still-sealed copy of 'Superunknown' I bought for 25 cents that I keep meaning to sell, (prices were estimated at $200 or more a while back).

And, as always, there were Dead Granny Records: 'The Sound of Music' and 'South Pacific', multiple Highland Band albums, Val Doonican, etc. I'd buy Sinatra, Crosby, Garland, Fitzgerald etc, but you could usually buy 20 of these for a dollar because it was obvious no-one wanted them and they were just someone cleaning out the house of someone who died.

Now 11 years later, an album like 'Lincoln' would be a $20 purchase, but Hipsters would, say, wait for 90's albums to be repressed, and the Boomer Records are rapidly-becoming Dead Granny Records. The generation who are still emotionally-invested in these kind of albums are rapidly-dying off, so you'd buy three albums for 50 cents and they'd throw in a Melanie or Laura Nyro album just to get rid of them.

I'm not talking obscure stuff, either. Boomer Totems. I stopped buying vinyl early last year, but now and then I'll be somewhere and think, "Well, it's a couple of bucks, why not?", such as the three dollars I collectively-spent on these albums. A musician mate of mine was so intrigued by this shift, he took a picture.

There was a 'Tapestry' in there, but, like every second-hand copy of it I've ever come across, it was completely-trashed.

No-one cares anymore. The surviving Boomers who do care want the digital-to-analogue repressing so they can deny how old they physically are. tard

I don't think the Left truly-understands what is coming.

RE: Boomer Deathwatch thread
In many ways, I agree with both of Nomad and Debguiled.

The boomers did participate in many stupid, stupid ideas that led to our current situation. They're biggest fault, which is bigger than just one generation, is stupid parenting.

American parenting seems to basically plan for the the next immediate affirmation as opposed to the longer term well being. You might be able to link this to the whole economy being centered around 90 day cycles. Theres a million reasons you could attribute to the shortsightedness of the average american parenting style.

I think we can all agree upon that.

But, what was a boomer supposed to do?

The fiddler was playing music. Don't dance? Sit on the sidelines?

Everything broke their way.

They certainly should have been more prudent and planned for the long term. But, thinking on a long term time frame and with a high time preference is challenging for all humans. Not just people born between 1946-1964.

Foresight and introspection are generally lacking for people from that time frame. Many of us eventually figured it out. Millions, millions more never will.

Unless Doc Brown gets the Dolorean up and running, there is next to nothing we can do to reverse their mistakes. We can only learn from them.

This isn't to make an excuse more to reframe this thread. The title itself made me cringe. I don't wish death upon anyone. I do wish deathblows to a mentality which has led us to the brink. Father time is undefeated.

They're waning. Their power is on the ropes.

Are we going to sit in the corner with our cut man and bitch about our black eye?

There are billions and maybe trillions at stake as this generation goes through the strangest sunset the world has ever seen.

I'd rather come out swinging and send the champ off into the sunset.

Average IQ is 110. Only Eve is above average. The other 80% are below the average.

Ok, then maybe he meant median more so than raw numerical average. The point is a significant portion of what passes for "college material" - ain't. And the bell curve may also actually be shifting for a number of reasons - delayed motherhood, regressive breeding patterns, prescription drug use by moms (linked to autism), who knows.

And this is spot on:

Ever watch any of those muscle car auctions like Barrett Jackson or Mecum? Nothing but boomers paying sky high prices for cars they either once owned or could never afford when they were younger. The average age of the audience has to be about 65. I'm talking six figures for some numbers-matching, only version with a vinyl roof, air conditioning and an 8 track, blah blah blah. Talk about not having no signifncant market in about a decade! Dyers are going to outnumber buyers more than anyone there cares to think about.

Those cars will be worth something, but not nearly what people are paying for them now. The bubble started to burst across the collector car market a couple of years ago. It isn't just American muscle cars, but that market in particular is a vulnerable boomer circle jerk.

Couple this decline with millennials who have either no interest in cars at all and/or no aptitude for toying with anything mechanical as a hobby and it's easy to see where this is going.

RE: Boomer Deathwatch thread
A few years back (may still be on), there was an Ameriprise Financial commercial aimed at Boomers which flattered them on their generational accomplishments in an attempt to part them from their money.

One listed was having sent a man to the Moon. An accomplishment carried out by the Greatest and Silent generations, to which no Boomer contributed in any meaningful way apart from paying minuscule amounts of taxes to fund the undertaking or working entry-level engineering or tech labor jobs for NASA or one of its contractors. The first Boomer engineer would have graduated from college in 1968, by which time the rockets and spacecraft were already in operation and the first men-around-the-moon mission was being prepped for flight. Draftsmen, machinists, welders and the like would have still been learning their craft after four years out of high school.

At first it annoyed me as a perfect example of the self-absorbed and self-congratulatory Boomer mentality in action. Then I realized that Ameriprise was actually playing an entire generation for suckers, appealing to their absurd and delusional degree of vanity. And what generation is full of more suckers willing to be exploited that way than Boomers, who have from day one had their vanity stroked by Madison Avenue to condition them for exactly that purpose?

To the point of the OP, I look forward to the last gasp of this ubiquitous and perpetual Boomer vanity-stroking. It boggles my mind that after five decades we're still seeing TV and other media doing Sixties retrospectives, JFK hagiographies, Vietnam handwringing, Watergate docudramas, etc. etc. etc., all aimed at reminding Boomers how special and important and great (greater than Greatest!) they were and are. I'm sure that there was some of this in the 1990s with the Greatest Generation when they were at the same age as Boomers are now, but I don't remember it going to the same absurd extremes, from which one could be forgiven for believing history began in 1950 and ended in 1969. Probably because media pandering to and cultivation of Boomers' self-absorbed nostalgia had already started a decade earlier following "The Big Chill" - the Greatest Generation got shoved aside.

Baby Boomers get singled out for being the shitzippers a lot of them are, but one big fact gets ignored:

The Boomers didn’t just show up on college campuses in 1964 and take over with a blink of an eye. No, they had to have at a minimum, tacit approval from their “Greatest Generation” (who are vastly overrated, IMHO) parents.

The parents bore, condoned and supported the foot soldiers of the downfall. Don’t let them off the hook. Their spawn shit on the floor and they did nothing about it.

Yes, the “tail enders” of the Boomer Generation got shafted too.

There was a second elementary school constructed in my home town around 1970; it closed not even six years after it was built because they finally realized the boomer generation tapered off in '64.

The oldest boomers would have been in their mid-20s at the time and were unlikely to have influenced that decision. No doubt the "greatest generation" made the decisions on that planning committee. If only the boomers and what's left of the greatest could learn to forecast a bit better they wouldn't be fantasizing about "making up the difference" with hordes of third worlders expected to pay taxes - while receiving as much or more in federally funded benefits.

Hip, hip, hooray. The "greatest generation" can go fuck themselves. They all worshipped FDR, for goodness sakes. Actually the boomers did get a lot of pushback, but it came from the previous generation--the generation who fought WW1.

Actually the Greatest Generation (1901-1921) were pretty solid. What gets overlooked is how rotten the Silent Generation (1921-1941) were.

A lot of people I assumed were Greatest or Boomer were in fact Silent. For some reason a good chunk of the people born during that timeframe came out really selfish.

My grandfather was born in 1918 and he was an upstanding person with character, charisma, kindness and discipline, that I rarely see in one person today. As were my grandmother and their friends. Of course there must have been rotten apples, but there was a different kind of class about them.

The way they spoke and carried themselves. Their quiet, humble confidence. They exuded respect and got it, without making a fuss. That's probably what I liked most about their generation, that they showed their character through action, not words.

If there's one thing that I judge greatly, it's maintaining the demographic status quo:

All the boomers needed to do was have more than 2 kids. That's it. We wouldn't be in this mess struggling to pay for their bloated entitlements with a dwindling white demographic and hoards of low IQ minorities popping out kids who won't ever be able to pay in the same way the rich white majority has.

This is the original sin of the boomers. Everything else supported by them wouldn't have mattered if there was a strong and intelligent majority to manage the problems they introduced.

Now if Millennials would only learn this.

Instead it's just a bunch of crybabies.

That generation knew how to work hard and kick ass. Nearly every man from that generation I talked to way back nearly killed someone over something or another. And they didn't take any shit from kids.

That generation was the only one who could do the Monthy Python sketch with the four Yorkshire men and not exaggerate (too much).
