After years of going to clubs, I have inadvertently stumbled upon a method to get free drinks. I only noticed it recently. The method goes like this:

1. Observe all the tables with bottle service. Look at the dynamics of the group. You can usually tell which guy bought the bottle and controls the table. Find that guy.
2. Find the most beta of the table guys. Typically the guy who is paying is usually beta.
3. When he is outside of the table, go near him and have fun or start a conversation with him. He is probably really drunk. If you are a fun person, he will offer you drinks. You don't even need to ask.

Important things to note:
-This should be obvious, but don't go after the all women table. Women are typically cheap and will not give free drinks to a random male.
-The more bottles the table has, the better. Its easier to share if you have 3 bottles than 1. People who buy 1 bottle are typically stingy.
-Wait until the middle or late in the night. 2 reasons why:
1. The table buyer is more drunk at this point. Drunk people like handing drinks out to other people.
2. This is the point in the night where the table buyer realizes that he has a lot of alcohol left but can't finish it. His crew probably pregamed heavily beforehand so they aren't able to finish the drinks.
-Make sure the guy is there when you pour the drink. The people in the table will think you are trying to steal their bottle. He needs to be there to tell them that you are cool. Its important that its the table buyer, not someone else at the table who lets you drink because no one can say shit if the table buyer is giving drinks to someone else.


I've gotten many free drinks from tables because I chatted up with the table buyer unintentionally.

EDIT: I just realized that this is basically the same method attractive women use to get free drinks at the club. The only difference is that you have to provide value to the guy while the attractive woman only needs to show up.

On one hand, I don't see any value in being the male equivalent of a bottle rat. Being a leech isn't cool.
On the other hand, it is objectively good advice in terms of what you are saying. This is definitely the method that girls (bottle rats, specifically) employ to get their free drinks.
Also, it won't work every time. There's definitely guys that will not be completely fucked up on alcohol and will tell you to fuck off.

I don't understand this post at all. While O.P. is carrying this well thought out plan just to get a free drink, he could be approaching the ten hottest girls in the club. Also, club owners must really love this guy.

And on the way home you can stop by at McDonald's and look for leftover french fries at tables. Sometimes there is burgers left there too and you can basically have a meal for free. And while you're at McDonald's you can steel some toilet paper too, they have a lot of it, don't worry! I can write a datasheet on this if you like?

Pretty much this.

Your trick getting free booze might work, but you're better off chasing good women and making contacts rather than leeching free alcohol from tables. Do not forget that someone at the table might be more sober than the rest and call you out on it.

Not everyone here can afford to pay for drinks at the club. I'm fine with cash so I don't need to hustle for drinks. I got the free drinks while not trying to get them (ex: talking to someone bathroom, dancing by myself and being offered drinks).

After years of going to clubs, usually getting a bottle/table with my crew, I can tell you that you can spot this shit a mile off.

It's bad enough when the bottle rats are trying to pick off the weak link to score free drinks, but when it's a random dude it's pretty pathetic. Sure you may score yourself one, maybe a couple drinks. Nobody's gonna risk ruining the vibe by kicking off over a bit of vodka, but believe me we still notice and your card gets marked. Particularly when you inevitably then try to snake onto our girls. Just cos nobody physically throws you off the table doesn't mean nobody sees what you're at.

And if it's a club you go to with any kind of regularity you'll very quickly get a reputation and nobody will want to have anything to do with you. It's social circle anti-game.

Any of us can get offered free drinks from other tables just by being a cool guy. But when you're a parasite with nothing to offer then you need a datasheet...

Irish is spot on when he says people notice that shit and we don't like it. I've known people who are cheap, and opportunistic like the OP, and think they can just coast through life taking advantage of people's kindness, and it never works out the way they think it will. Your intentions are clear as a blue sky to anyone with any social intelligence whatsoever.

OP if you can't afford drinks at the club, then don't go. Wouldn't you be better served spending that time making money or finding some way to BRING REAL VALUE rather than leeching it from strangers? In the long run it will make all the difference.

But like some people I've known, I assume you think that's 'for suckers'? Let me tell you people hate that guy. I've got one particular acquaintance who does this kind of shit and every time my phone buzzes and his name pops up I always find excuses not to answer or not to hang out with him because people like that are a black hole of opportunism, and nobody wants them around. He has to semi-force people to hang out with him by showing up randomly. It's pathetic. It takes a committed level of lack of self awareness to think you're going to get away with shit like this for any extended period of time. Your intentions are always more obvious than you think, for good or ill.

I am going to respectfully disagree. Phoenix, come on, you are so much smarter than that. Are you saying that the end justifies the means? That taking advantage of others is acceptable as long as he 'didn't go thirsty'? I don't buy that you actually think that because I've seen your posts and know you're not that type of guy.

It's not about this 'not being alpha' enough for us either. It's just common decency. The pettiness of the deed itself is compounded by the fact it's been posted about here, as if this behavior is something any of us would want to emulate.

One final point: being "called out" isn't the point either. That's not the end-all-be-all of social ostricization. Having nobody answer your calls / texts and wondering why you've got no friends, however, IS.

And OP's behavior may not get him called out or beat up, but it will get him friendless.

Not calling out BS like this is actually doing these kinds of people a disservice as they will continue to engage in shit behaviors thinking it's ok.

I used to do this a lot when I was a broke ass student...not only with alcohol but also with drugs...I also used to bang once in every full moon...if lucky...

I'm convinced this "don't pay for anything ever" mindset automatically disqualifies you with the top 10%, maybe even the top 20%. If you don't believe me, try it both ways and see which yields better results.

^ Agreed. I always know who didn't pay or even offer to pay. Sometimes, I intend to pay for everything, but if other people don't even reach for their wallets I know I'm dealing with a scrub.

This also all begs the question: why are you in a club if you can't even afford to buy drinks or tip for drinks? That's so weird.

The only time I regularly got free drinks at the club was when I worked as a male stripper. Other than that, i'm a firm believer in buying your own drinks... unless a friend owes you (either via bet or as general payback).

When you're a broke ass student, everything is expensive. Can't you buy a single drink so you don't spend a lot of money and to not look broke?

When I've read OP first paragraph I checked to see if his username was banned. Strangely it wasn't and I thought he was going to provide a good insight in the end.

If you can't afford drinks, at least provide VALUE before trying to rip booze. You know what could you do? Present girlfriends of yours.

I had a ballerina girlfriend who (of course) had many many girlfriends. When we went clubbing, there was many single girls with us. Knowing how harder it is to approach (girls) strangers, I would see which guys the girls were interested, approach them and present to the girls. Guys were very appreciative and offered to buy a next round (even though I don't drink much) and drugs if they had. Everyone was happy and no sleazyness was around.

Even if we aren't talking bottles and tables at clubs, NEVER be the guy who doesn't stand his round. It is noticed and it's a rep you do not want to get.

We had a guy at the ski school last year who was like this, would never buy his round, was always in the toilet when it was his turn or he 'had to leave'. In the end no one talked to him.

Back when I was drinking I used to make a point of always getting the first round on principle.

If you have to go minesweeping, just don't drink or drink club soda or something, have some self respect.

Nothing wrong with dudes giving you free alcohol, but I think your mindset needs to be different. Instead of trying to score free liquor, you should be trying to establish social dominance. That means using conversation as currency by talking to EVERYONE in the club and helping them all have a nice time- staff, bottle girls, high-rollers, low-rollers, girls of all HB levels, guys standing around by themselves looking lost, the busboy, etc. You will get a lot more than free liquor if you have that mindset, practice it, and employ it.
