The problem a lot of cats fall into--I find--is that when they discover an activity or venue where there is serious talent, and super-favorable ratios, they feel the need to participate in that activity. Not only is this not necessary, it often works against you, by placing you in the "creepy dude who takes the class" role or putting you in the awkward situation of having to pick one target and wait, lest you be exposed as the guy who's obviously, systematically working the room. I find a way to loiter in the vicinity and work the passerby angle.

You can stop a girl or two every time.

Probably the only positive going for DC is that it's really fucking easy to be cooler than everyone else. I'm from the area and escaped to the west coast for a few years.

Culture shock.

Everyone spends lots of time at the gym and on their "image". People follow current fashion and music trends and in general are just "cooler". The same goes for NYC. The competition the average guy brings will be much higher than what it is in DC since 90% of the population here wears pastel brooks brothers polo shirts, can't even squat 200lbs, and is scared shitless of leaving the cruise-ship on his all inclusive "vacation".

With just a tiny bit of effort you can reasonably quickly elevate yourself over the masses in DC and start loading your stable up with 6's and 7s.

When I had to unfortunately move back to "Marylands discarded swampland" to ride out the 2008 collapse, the years spent outside of DC competing with better peers made huge difference. Pussy central.

That being said, it gets really old loading up your stable with 6s and 7s. Also, don't expect your cool mojo to last. Without a better peer group to challenge you all your gains will slide because we are all inherently lazy.

As mentioned countless times, the need to qualify to a DC chick talking about the whip you're financing, your sick pad in Ballston, and the cool Deloitte social club you're in is the script of many beta providers and ultimately fucks with women when they try to emulate us with their "achievements". It's tiresome to be asked "What do you do?" on dates, let alone on your first encounter.

Often times, I hear people think of DC as some sort of hub of change. I've never seen so many cookie cutter personalities in one city. Arlington is not much better, but it's a change of scenery. Maybe it's time to go to Asiandale and see what's there to offer.

In my personal experience, Baltimore has less good looking girls and the quality is lower BUT its easier in my opinion. Fells Point I think is the best place to get consistent results compared to say Power Plant, Federal Hill or Canton.

Oftentimes, one can dismiss these men as orbiters. Though as you alluded to, in DC you'll see a lot of said beta-males with the rare 8.5. (They sure as hell didn’t meet her through cold approach). They likely obtained said girl after 1-2 years of social circle, work-related hangout time. Faznine – Definitely true about the cool factor and the bar being so low here. On the bright side, yes it’s fairly easy, to have a lot of people think you’re cool in DC with VERY little effort. Unfortunately, unlike elsewhere, it’s very hard to translate that into meeting quality women. It’s also hard to meet other cool people in this town, which again is why I’m usually headed straight for a train or a plane every Friday at 5!

Menace – Regarding teachers, it’s not a bad idea. My guess would be the Virginia burbs such as Fairfax, Falls Church, and Reston (esp Reston). You’re likely to find 5 times more hot girls in a random bar out there on a weekend than you would in downtown DC in a weak bar in Adams Morgan, U Street,, or Dupont, all of which are equally bad.

Till I leave here, I'd rather keep taking my shots with promo girls and restaurant hostesses around DC. They're not New York or Vegas quality, but it's a fairly decent-sized net to cast if you're looking for some semblance of talent here.

I agree with most everything said here, women are stuck up, etc. I went to a couple of speed dating events in the city, every single one of them humorless broads asked me what I did for a living. Lame. I can't get down with how you guys rate women. Slide your scale 2 points for me, your 5s are my 7s etc. BUT, there is no way a chick with a man's body/shape (no ass or tits) will ever be 7+ in my book no matter how good she looks in the face. It has to be a fairly decent combination of those three attributes for a chick to get above a 5. I'm not even sorry about that. So more available talent for me to scoop, if I wasn't so terrible with game. So that's a sorta win for me too.

After the approach, they lose out with shitty personalities and there's plenty of those women from the low end of the scale to the 10s.

An old friend of mine read my DC sucks post and offers this comment about why it's so awful:

All the young college guys couldn't go out with their female friends. Girls started going out alone, in small groups, and started getting harassed by older guys.

Imagine an 18 year old girl from GW getting grinded by a 50 year old cab driver. That's what happened to Platinum. In just a few short months, girls got discouraged and scared, and stopped going out. Preventing 18-20 year old guys from going out is what killed the scene in D.C. in 2002-2003. It never recovered.

The reason for low numbers of girls in clubs now is because the "club culture" was killed in D.C. and the reputation of clubs as being a "fun place" for girls never recovered. There are still 50 year old cab drivers lurking along the walls. Girls are scared to go out in D.C. because of those creepy guys.

The solution to D.C.'s nightlife and bar problem? Make more places 18+ and allow guys to get in so same-age girls feel safe. Don't call it a "College Night", just make it a regular place for girls and guys to hang out. It's obvious in hindsight, but promoters in D.C. couldn't get it right for 8 years.

I think he makes some good points for the younger crowd (especially the importation of table service), but that leaves a lot of explanation needed for slightly older women.

Still when I read this email, I had some memorable flashbacks of going to the CHEESIEST clubs in DC but still doing okay (numbers, dates, kisses) even though I had zero game. The ratios were respectable and the girls indulged my newb game. I feel sorry for guys just getting started with game in DC right now.

Don’t get me wrong, I also have plenty of friends here in town, many from school and work, but none that have any connection, friend or otherwise, to beautiful women.
I just think it’s extremely difficult to come across beautiful women in DC, plain and simple.

On the rare occasion when I do see a true 9 in this city in a bar venue, I’ll run my normal routine but she’ll have an enormous defensive shield up, usually with friends, and things will break down from there. Thankfully this isn’t the case in other cities (i.e. New York), but my assessment of DC is there are so few women of that high quality that your actual 9s behave like 12s and are very difficult to pick up in a bar or club venue. (The irony being that very same girl, removed from DC for a weekend, would be an easy-medium pull by the pool in Vegas!)

I did read another interesting thread on here that discussed whether one needed to focus completely away from the traditional bar/club scene in DC in order to find high-quality girls, and suggested an alternative approach such as focusing on hotel bars, etc. I’m intrigued by that concept and might put it into play. Because the standard bars/club scene around here is just a massive waste of time. Many nights it’s hard to even find one/two girls that meet the standards I’m looking for. I’ve also had several friends from NYC and Philly down here a few times and they absolutely despise DC. My one friend, the best dude I’ve ever known at picking up girls, is 0-for-5 in DC, and believe me for his ability, that is an absolutely staggering statistic.

To sum it all up, my question to you all is: Is it really as bad as I think it is? Is there any hope in DC? Or do I really need to head to the airport every weekend in order to bang 9s?

(Roosh - You seem to be quite the travel junkie and follow this strategy yourself, would be interested to hear how you manage things locally!)

With the growth of the the boutique hotel, the hotel bar has become the new spot to be and be seen in. They're HUGE in NYC. Some of them can be hard to get into, as they are very picky about who gets in (you have to have the look they want, the right clothes, etc.). If you look tight, I would definitely start working hotel bars.

I went to Gurapo in Court House last night. Girls were nice and fun BUT the problem again was there were too many males AND the hotties were in big mixed groups, who arrived together and left together. The difficult of DC would be so much easier if there were more 2-3 sets of girls. The fact that there are alot less of them now makes it uninspiring .

I would say I was doing the same thing you were for the last portion of my time in DC (traveling to other cities on the weekends). I think the very end was just making sure to have some funds to pull the trigger and move. I spent six years there, while bitching and moaning about the lack of quality trim and shitty weather for the last three. Now I'm hunting for a job while figuring out the scene in FL. I could keep sitting there at my desk job and thinking about moving, but I did that for a few years and nothing was changing. It still felt bleh. You gotta just decide you want to do it and follow through with it. I had no family there. And the friends I had there were like pseudo friends. Solo nights were the standard for me and I did learn a lot about myself on that front. Closed plenty of ass during that time, but the majority of it was 6s and 7s. The occasional 8 could be found, but definitely not like the mid-2000s.

I'd say I had a better time in 2004-2007. Now it's just old and things ain't what they used to be there (smoking bans in both DC and VA; lesser quality of women; fun bars and clubs closed and replaced with shitty lounges; etcetera etcetera). I also got bored with the same conversations over and over where it became almost robotic to have my "what do you do?" answer. I'd just hash it out in milliseconds while trying to move on to better things to talk about. You just get used to it knowing it's going to be the first question out of almost every girl's mouth after the approach or introduction. Same goes for what school you went to. Nerds and overachieving gunners everywhere.

I totally get your point about the place being filled with 5.5 million people, yet it's filled with slothpieces and a sea of average. I knew I could do better and I was still young with no ties to the place. I can't say how long I'll be in FL, but it's definitely got a ton of pros to it and they outweigh the cons. It's not what you'll find in DC where you've got all those different choices of neighborhoods with several areas of bars and restaurants within walking distance or a short cab ride, but it's still plenty of fun, has hotter women, nicer weather year round, and you're by the beach (unless you're talking Orlando).

It's going to be an adjustment losing the negative asshole attitude you've likely built up in DC when you finally do it. I didn't have it when I moved there. Remember how much you smiled on the metro when you first got there? And all the people on the train had sad faces? Yeah, that should have been a big indicator for what was to come. Get out while you can.

Yea.. I moved to DC during the tail end of that.Things have really changed since then. Back then I remember there was alot more college chics out. More 2 sets and tourists as well. It's a shame.

I hear everyone complaining but that just leaves the good females available.

DC is a day game town as Roosh has pointed out. I live within 500 feet of the P St Wholefoods and there are more hot girls in there at any one time than anywhere else in the city.

There are tons of art galleries having cool shows, museum events, galas, parties etc.

Nightclub game is over.

Such a higher quality of girl out there at quality events/places during the day as well.
