brian, your post and others on here made me think of something else.

people slag on DC all the time for being boring, government or whatever...but the truth is that in my experience there have been exciting, original underground movements here as long as i can remember.

in the late 80's early 90's it was punk. Fugazi and the rest of their crew. fort reno park, the old 9:30 club, dc space. etc.

then in mid 90's and early 2000's it was electronic dance music. dc was a central point for raves and other underground events worldwide.

since i'm now old, i don't know what else is going like this in this town, but to think that this place is 100% buttoned up is wrong.

DC1000,

FWIW I think your girlfriend, the one who appears in the first pic in the series Roosh linked to above, is very hot, quite a bit better than a 7. Props.

that still exists but i think the area has changed a lot in the last 10 years. its gotten much more expensive and i think that has driven alot of that crowd out. as Govt has grown DC has grown with it and in that way (govt workers, govt contractors, lawyers, etc). i'm sure there is still some of that but i think some of those groups have flocked towards cities like Austin that are cheaper and less button downed. In the last 10 or so years you've also had a large influx of immigrants - typically Middle Eastern, Central American, and Asian. This is what destroys that hot girl ratio at bars because if you aren't into those ethnicities a good portion of the girls at a bar/club are immediately disqualified.

Dude, if you can't put up with the bitch shields and constant shit testing from white girls, then you should hang it up. Because that's what they're like from the very beginning until the day they put you into the ground. Ever notice why a lot of white guys are so beta. Why is that? Coincidence?

Good point. Post of the moment!

I haven't been to black jack yet, is it a spot that I'd fit in well with a 3 piece? Pricing?

more casual than that. the bar tenders are hipster types. i don't drink alcohol, but the rest of the pricing for food and whatever else seemed better than most places. high value. Pearl Dive Oyster Bar, its sister restaurant is my new favorite place.

Speaking of 14th St:

How many of these places have you been to? They all can be of varying quality:

Church Key
Estadio (at the bar)
Bar Pilar
Cork (at the bar)

I've been to Church Key and Cork. Cities on 19th is another decent spot for above-average quality girls on Fri/Sat (aside from a few loser groups buying up the bottle service with their busted girls -- don't know why they blow cash on that). Drinks are a bit pricey though, only been there a few times now with one of my girls who wanted to pull a third home with us. It's good for that too.

I have an all-encompassing style that hipsters seem to love so I can run with that as well.

Here's the other thing w/DC right now - no one under 27 has any money, especially the girls, and its expensive to go out here. I think that is keeping a lot of the younger girls in. I was in Austin recently and went out one night and a whole bunch of bars on 6th st had $2 drinks. You can have 3 drinks, hang out, and spend $10. Charleston was the same thing. that really caters to the 21-27 crowd who is also the most physically attractive. i was at a dive bar in DC recently on M St and a rail vodka sprite was $8.50.

Another problem as of late for Rookie and myself.

We're cheaper motherfuckers so we always end up at those horrible bars in dupont with incredible specials... and end up staying too long. Another reason why I pre-game or keep liquor stashed in my car. Don't judge me. Laugh

I haven't followed these in a while, so they could be hit or miss or not even updated. I def went through the lists before dc and arlington lost their allure and when the sites were in their beginner stages. http://schnozbot.com and bardc.com.

I have to admit that I have been almost non-existent in the DC club scene except for special weekends (Black Caucus, Howard Homecomings, etc) so I didn't know the DC clubs had become sausagefests. It SURE DIDN'T USED to be that way. Then again, my circle of friends are always planning the next Costa Rica/Dominican Republic/Puerto Rico/South America trip.

I need to just set aside some time and look into the DC club scene.

I've been trying to get VK and Rookie away from the same 3-4 bars, looking for some new bars to wing. I'm tired of the crowded scene on U St. the Clarendon amateur hour... and solo dolo in Dupont.

you talk about shitty places and complain that they suck.

yes, DC sucks if you ARE IN FACT the blue shirt khaki guy. but if you are anything slightly different, its a field day.

yes i'm tall, yes, i'm white, yes, i have a great job. but you think thats all it takes?

put yourself in the right places and make that shit happen.

I suggested going to Black Jack, a new bar on 14th st, last week.

Have any of you gotten off your asses to go there and check it out? Or are you still complaining that this town sucks?

Hi again from London fellas.

dc1000 - In my opinion, an extremely optimistic post on DC but I'm happy to have it in the discussion. I'd be interested to hear more of your experiences cause it's fair to say your say your experiences in DC are RADICALLY different from mine and those of many other members.

To start, in defense of others, I wouldn't accuse them of sitting at home and crying about it. I created this thread so we could have a constructive discussion for members regarding how they deal with the cesspool of talent in DC. (Someone made the point earlier that there has been a noticeable dip since 2009 and I'd agree. It didn't use to be THAT bad. It's a topic for another time but I do think it has to do with the rapid expansion of government/contractor jobs, and the type of girls those jobs draw, for reasons already noted.)

Yes, some of your posts have been constructive and contained suggestions for members. There are obviously many guys with considerable skill in this forum living in DC that are all encountering the same difficulties in keeping a quality 8-9 rotation going however, so there must be something to it. Such an overwhelming opinion can't be easily dismissed. As for your pulls, they're ok but again as Roosh mentioned, it's possible you may have different standards than some of the other members on here. Just an important fact to keep in mind before critiquing others.

Many of us here are well past the point of keeping a few 7s on standby for an easy bang. I'm fairly confident most of us can do that. I'm well past that. I'm at the point, as I think many of us are, where I'm looking to keep a CONSISTENT, SOLID rotation of 8s and 9s and truly reach that level. It's not hard to be very good, but it is hard to be truly world-class. There are many who struggle with making that jump. Like college to the pros, many can't adjust to the speed of the game at the very highest level. Elsewhere, it's more easily done but I think making that jump in DC, and again I must explicitly state, to the point where you're rotating 8s and 9s AT WILL, is nearly insurmountable. If you know anyone that's able to do it, we'd love to hear from them.

As for myself, I'm not sitting at home crying about it, I've taken action and taking it decisively. If you've seen some of my earlier threads I've committed to getting on a plane and skipping town EVERY WEEKEND since July because (and this is where we disagree), DC really is that bad. So far, until I move elsewhere, it's been a great strategy with plenty of payoff.

Not bashing your opinions - I'm just curious, actually fascinated, as to why you have such a different opinion than most. Like yourself, I'm tall, white, great job, great apartment, etc. I'm no Hall-of-Famer but I'd happily put my skills on the field with most on any given day. Not wealthy by any stretch but I do have enough to travel the world at will. (Though as some have accurately noted, money counts for very little when it comes to pulling quality whether you're in DC or not. Apart from letting you travel at will and experience different cities, it's vastly overrated when it comes to pulling talent. I know some decent looking dudes with millions in DC that struggle to pull anything more than a 7.)

"why i am the only guy that found a model in dc? or an actress?"

You're not. Like yourself, I've had success in DC but it's just not steady enough. I had a sweet Corona promo girl in rotation last year for about 4 months but even so, they are few and far between. Besides, I want 4 Corona promo girls on standby in DC, not one! Actresses? Wow, you'll have to clue me in on that one. It's one of the least artistic cities in which I've ever set foot. The vast majority of my model/promo girl type pulls come out of town.

Roosh made this point earlier - Getting laid isn't a problem in DC. What is difficult is consistently having beautiful girls (that you actually value to some extent) salivating to see you all the time in DC.

With respect to your venue selection, I'm almost rendered speechless cause I honestly feel like we're watching a different match here... You seem to be hung up on the 14th St. scene. I've done most of it and found it terrible and certainly not worthy of going back. Policy? Awful. Not one group worthy of my time. Churchkey? You must be joking! Fine if you're looking to pull a 5. (I'd put Churchkey in a similar vein as St. Ex.) Bar Pilar is just as unremarkable. Cork and Blackjack? I haven't been so will refrain from comment, but in all honesty given where they're located I can't imagine them containing an untapped well of 8s and 9s. Next time I'm back I'll try them. (Yeah, ok the photo of FUR was a little over the top, and not totally representative. Places aren't usually THAT bad. Still, if you hit some of the sausage-fests south of Dupont, i.e. Public, Lucky Bar, Midtown, it really does look like that at 1am on Fri/Sat) I do agree with you on the W Hotel bar and Ritz-Carlton Georgetown however. Hotel bars are actually the one wildcard in DC as you get a decent turnover from the out of town crowd and some rare gems can be found. It's also worth having a crack at some of the hired guns in these places.

I'm wondering - Have you ever tried getting out of town regularly? I ask because it seems like you have considerable skills so I'm wondering why you choose to use them in DC. If you're willing to put in all the hard work in DC for 7s, and many 7s do take hard work in DC, I think you'll do quite well out of town. The difference is astounding. As many have noted, living in DC and being shit tested by 5s and 6s, even ones you have no interest in, can sharpen your game decisively to the point that when you're out of town it's like a new dawn. I'll get rejected by 6.5s regularly in DC (really!) but am able to pull solid 8s and the occasional 9 in New York, Philly, and Vegas. How can one explain that?

You noted earlier: "i'm here, have been here and will be here, so i'm talking my book and trying to make the most of it for sure."

Why? Unless you have other reasons man, don't waste your time staying. You only live once. Reach for more. Unless you can regularly wake up and be proud of what you've pulled and what's lying in your bed, get out of Dodge. Push yourself! As Gmac said, get to NYC, LA, Vegas, maybe South Fla. The grass is truly greener. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you find. Till then, thanks for your opinions man - All contributions, positive or negative, are certainly welcome in this discussion. On a rare weekend back in DC, see you around and good hunting.

PS - Off topic to all: For coffee, I stand by my earlier statements. 7pm is it!! Haha ok I'm being a bit lazy. I live in the West End (22nd and M) and yes, admittedly that shuts down a bit earlier than the 14th and P area. But it's the goddamn capital of the United States. I shouldn't have to walk 10-12 blocks for a cup of coffee at 8 or 9 pm. You should see Europeans, both on vacation and on business, walking through my area asking where they can find a cup of coffee at 8pm (In summer the sun's still up!), they're absolutely stunned.

RE: Just How Bad is DC? Let's Discuss...
thanks for the thoughtful response, i'll reply in full later. just a quick couple of comments:

1) got two kids and am bound to the city. such is life. and yes, i've been all around the world.

2) assuming normal distributions of "looks" how many 8's and 9's do you expect to see on a consistent basis? I mean, isn't that why they are 8's and 9's? because they are rare?

DC Sucks. Period.

It's not even about 8s, 9s, or 10s. It's about 4s & 5s acting like they are god's gift to men. There don't exist 8s, 9s, & 10s in DC. Just chubby, workaholic bitches.

I guess if you want to date 30-something lawyer chicks, then it is great in DC, but it sucks for a young guy.

Any dude coming straight out of college needs to avoid DC like the black death. I have visited several times and it gets worse every time. Don't play the game that "well, it is not as good as NYC or LA, but it is not so bad." There are lots of cities in the USA that are better than DC. DC sucks because it should be a lot better considering how many people live in the DC Metro Area, but it sucks. I don't know how many pics of the nightlife you need to prove that...I guess some people will never believe even their lying eyes! LOL!

The DC hate posts are mostly warnings for young guys. Don't go there. Take a job in another city for less pay if you have to...but don't go there.

You have been warned.

RE: Just How Bad is DC? Let's Discuss...
i just checked out a thread on here that has some ratings (/thread-4974.html) and it appears that Scarlett Johanson is but a mere 7.5-8 according to folks on this site.

If that is the case, then I retract everything I've ever said.

there are definitely not scads of Scarlett Johanson's running around DC. In fact, there are very few if any at all.

so, you're all correct and I'm wrong!

props to you guys who have rotations of 8's and 9's!! in other cities. That is truly amazing and i'm not even being sarcastic.

Ah, again it is not about wanting swimsuit models to be walking the streets. The average girl in DC is a 4 to a 5 in the looks department. Sorry, but chubby chicks can't be rated above average.

DC is bad, but I think people should visit DC at least once so that they at least can make up their own minds about the city. I mean, you can visit the capitol, the monuments, ride the metro, etc...and then visit some of the spots mentioned in this thread to check out the nightlife.

Just don't hold your breath. There is a reason why so many people on here hate DC.

Although 100% true, the problem is that the Bush & Obama administrations has economically held HOSTAGE natives and residents who want to leave DC (like myself) to the point where the only place jobs are being created (not including minimum-wage Wal-Mart esque jobs or jobs transferred from other states) is the DC area. So unless you want to work at Starbucks or some low-paying retail store, DC is the best option out there if you want to maintain a relatively stable job. That's the only reason why people aren't flocking from this city leaving it as abandoned as Detroit.

I agree. I am one of those "Cleared I.T. dudes" and DC is where you want to be to generate income without having to think of some great business plan. You can always travel to get away from DC.

there are a LOT of people who are working in govt or govt related jobs the DC area who if they had to leave DC would be instantly looking at a huge pay cut, and i'm guessing a lot of them would be unemployable outside of blue collar or retail work. but my theory is that this cant go on, govt spending will be dramatically cut, and things will change around here. we are coming to the end of the government bubble. the only question is how much longer this goes on for.
