Also, why would you bomb an empty parliament? This reminds me of when hitler burned down the parliament and then blamed the comunists for it. I don't want to doubt the good effort of the turkish military but come on, Erdogan could come out of this with more power and more consent.

Poor planning by the coup ringleaders. If you want to wrest control of a country from an administration that commands significant support from the population, the first thing on your to-do list should be to arrest or kill the country's top leaders. This demonstrates decisiveness and curbs the will of the people to resist the coup and risk their lives for a leader who is either dead or incapacitated. There are numerous historical examples for this, with both successful and unsuccessful coups - Valkyrie coup against Hitler in 1944, Soviet hardliners' coup in 1991, Gaddafi's coming to power in 1969 - just to name a few.

What happened here is that as soon as the people saw on that broadcast that Erdogan is alive and well, they went to the streets and confronted the military. From then on it was just a matter of time before the coup failed.

Erdogan's PR boost from this will be massive. He can now proclaim himself the new Ottoman Sultan. I doubt many of those who supported him this night on the streets would mind.

This has been weighing on my mind all day before I arrived home to check out the feed here.

My gut was telling me that this was a honey trap for anti-Erdogan forces to draw themselves out and be crushed.

The people taking to the streets so suddenly and violently against a traditionally revered armed forces immediately had the seeming of an organised response. Straight away I was thinking "Erdogan the Islamist has speed dialled his cleric buddies and mobilised the Mohammedean demographic." In reality they were probably on stand-by.

This would have been an insider job by one or two trusted military men who agitated a coup designed to fail. As for the mobs attacking what would be known as a generally secular army, my sense is that the constant capitulation of western rulers to all things Islam has emboldened much of the people of muslim lands to give in to their tribal bloodlust and get on board with what seems to be a winning team.

In any case, unless this coup makes a spectacular comeback we can assume that all secular members of the Turkish armed forces will be purged and we will once again see a hardcore Islamist regime in Turkey.

More and more it seems like the globalist elite are planning on subjugating the world under the conformist authoritarian religion of islam. People of the lands of Christendom ought to prepare themselves to fight what is shaping up to be the war for the very soul of the human race.

In whose interests is it to see a Islamist Turkey rather than a secular one? This feels a bit like Game of Thrones when the religious fanatics take control of Casterly Rock, the political capital of Westeros, and while the guys at the top are riling the masses for their own purposes it's a dangerous game that can fast spiral out of hand.
