RE: The Anthony Bourdain Thread (RIP)
I was a fan of his book "kitchen confidential" and a fan of "no reservations". It did seem like he became overly political in his later years, though. I wonder if that had something to do with his deteriorated state of mind.

To be honest, I am saddened by this news.

His girlfriend, Asia Argento, was out with another man a few days ago:

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

RE: The Anthony Bourdain Thread (RIP)
I read his book which was great "Kitchen Confidential" and saw many of his TV shows, which often made me want to take note and visit those places some day (I remember his one on Maine in particular) but it all started to crumble a bit after his "dinner with Obama" in Vietnam. Now obviously, if you happen to be living in Vietnam the same time the US President is in town and requests you join him foe dinner... obviously you go.

But to actually buy into all that shit when you were once a cool punk-rocker, drug-taking, hard-balling, New York scuz bag.... it's just sad.

And as I already said... killing yourself after you have a kid is a no-no. Just like that fag from Linkin Park.

Yeah... it'll be Argento with that younger hotter guy.... pathetic. All of them... Argento, a porn actress throwing Weinstein under a bus (gimme a break), Bourdain caring more about her and his own ego that his own daughter... fuck him, fuck liberals, fuck Hollywood, fuck all these fucking liberal shitlords. The more that die the better.

Drain the swamp.

No, he has an 11 year old daughter. He had a great life but did a shit load of drugs, that can fuck up your emotions.

He had what looked like a fun life on paper being a millionaire chef with travel, great food, and loads of women(probably) but I guess wasn’t happy. I don’t care if one of his girlfriends dumped him he should be able to pull other groupies.

Whatever the reasons and circumstances leading up to the suicide of the 2 famous people this week ( this dude and Kate Spade), one thing is certain, the Anglo/ Western world is becoming extremely toxic.

Most of this toxicity has been produced by leftists themselves and now it seems many are seeing the fruit of their labor.

Nonetheless, this toxicity affects everyone and I know that I fall into these dark thoughts myself. It is almost like an existential crisis.

Do you fight against a toxic society? Or run away? or give into it?

Another reminder that game saves (men) lives.

This week a family member of a friend of mine killed himself and managed to send the footage (I don't know details of this, but probably through streaming) to his estranged wife...a 40 year old guy that seems was always the life of the party...shit like this happens when you love someone more than yourself. Might have been the case with Anthony.

Damn, Bourdian was one of the guys I always want to meet. Me and him knew someone in common and their always a question I want to ask him. Kitchen Confidential was one of my favorite books since it describe my childhood at the time period as family own a small restaurant in Tri-State area. He was living his dream regardless of the comprises he made, which makes his suicide questionable. Tony had a kid and loved her very much from his writings. I doubt he kill himself and leave her alone. There more to this stories and hell to pay for anyone involved.

RIP Tony.

Now that was a man with steel balls. And he wouldn't have done dropped a cup of poison after his ball busting wife would have left him.

How can you possibly know that Tony didn't leverage and didn't get the pussy he wanted? He almost certainly did. The idea that one is a coward or copout because you say so, is ridiculous.

RE: The Anthony Bourdain Thread (RIP)
I think I'll say a small prayer that some years from now his daughter finds a man more worthy of being a husband than Bourdain was of being a father, and that she has the sense to submit to him and rebuild her broken lineage, mourning her father but rightfully despising all the things about him that led him to this moment.

Hanging is a particularly bad way to go. I know first responders who've told me about the many times they've had to cut down men and women who'd virtually ripped chunks out of their throat in a desperate bid to save their own life when that noose tightened.

If one were to believe in the restless dead, trapped in purgatory, then people weak enough to hang themselves and stupid enough not to do it properly (most) are surely drastically over-represented.

Yeah. Yet another cautionary tale as if we haven't seen enough of them already. The second you invest wayyy too much emotion into a woman (I don't care if it's a friend, girlfriend or wife), you're in the danger zone.

The only thing I'm concerned about is his poor (not financially) daughter.

It's obvious he had demons some known and more than likely alot unknown.

I can't pretend to know the guy, I don't, I never watched his shows, maybe seen a few interview clips.

I don't know, but I keep my mind open to another possibilities. We are living in a world where conspiracy theories are becoming more plausible by the day. So Bourdian was loose thread or knew something that he was willing to tell at the right time. Bourdian had a lot of demons, but he overcome some of them. I don't recall any history of mental illness about him, which is a risk factor for suicide. We have to wait and see what happens.

RE: The Anthony Bourdain Thread (RIP)
RIP.

I enjoyed his shows.

He seemed to live an extremely hedonistic life though, well into middle age and was almost demonstrably averse to anything to do with nature or healthy living. I don't know if it had any effect, but I find sun, sea and fresh air, always has a good effect on my mood. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it or if it is a symptom of some sort of self loathing (destroying yourself). I had a friend who was much like that, luckily he got out of that and now travels the world and does cool stuff.

Edit: Didn't know he had kids.

Yes because they didn't do it correctly. Done properly, there is no clawing at the noose.

That said, I have no sympathy for Bourdain. He dripped with cowardly self-loathing and a smug superiority complex common to leftists everywhere. Most importantly, he believed himself above being GRATEFUL for the incredible life he was living. He didn't feel he needed to because like so many of his ilk, he believed in nothing greater than himself.

I hope he at least had the decency to provide for his daughter.

This is fucked up on so many levels.

Why was he a cuck? Seems to me he did what most of us dream about. He didn't bluster, he just did. But sadly, mental illness is vastly misunderstood - even on this forum where I would've expected more.

Nothing more Christian and spiritually elevated than rejoicing on someone's suicide.

If you do that, may this world - and the next(s) - be kinder to you than you ever were.

RIP Bourdain.

When one is desperate, the last thing you think of is doing the right thing.

I never got the feeling that he was arrogant/smug. I got the impression that Bourdain just wanted to get things "done and next"; as a means to an end. Until he finally broke.
