Hey dude, in colombia a gringo is not an american. In colombian a gringo is a blue-eyed and blonde guy who doesn't speak spanish very well and earns good money. Girls here drool for the nordic phenotype. A typical decent gringo with basic game is an 8 in colombia (7s paradise), a non-nordic guy may not be exotic but girls here are curious for anyone who is not a local. Spanish is a must though. When I was hanging out with travolta the girls we were aproaching made a joke about how badly they needed a colombian boyfriend to put them in their place, don't know if they meant that because my fellow western mates are too nice to them or if the language barrier sometimes puts them off. I guess a bit of both. Expect to have a good time. All rooshvfers I talk with are enjoying it here.

PS: American girls to you are like bogota girls to me. But I account they magically 'change' in the presence of westerners. Haha, AWALT.

As a Scandinavian man myself I can say that having blue eyes is enough (but of course speaking spanish as well), I am not blonde per se, but i still get called rubio. But yes just by being seen as a Nordic man it will help you out a lot, 99 % of the compliments I have received so far, have been about my eyes.

Hey NonDrifter, I just moved to Medellin last month after several years in Mexico, so I think I can answer a few of your questions. I'm still figuring things out here, so maybe some of this info is not 100% on point and my observations only apply to Medellin and not other parts of the country.

For me quality of life here is a bit lower than in CDMX or Guadalajara. Ease of getting around the city, walkability, quality of food, variety and interest of cultural activities, etc. are all better in Mexico. I also think I'm paying more here for worse quality, especially in terms of food.

I speak fluent Spanish so I can't comment on the language situation.

In terms of the girls, yes the talent level is definitely higher than in CDMX and slightly higher than Guadalajara, but I'm not feeling much of a gringo factor either here or in Mexico. In Mexico, it's mostly because they already have such close ties to the US, they have family over there or have visited several times, so it's not exotic for them. In Medellin, it's moreso that they're already overrun with gringos so it's nothing special now.

I definitely have the impression that the number of foreigners here in Medellin is much higher than in Mexico. I've been to bars and coffee shops in Poblado and Laureles where half of the people there were foreign at any given time. And these are not all dirty backpacker types -- I've seen a surprising number of blond hair, blue-eyed guys who are in shape and have good style, so if you think you're going to work that angle, be aware that the competition is out there.

Regarding security, yeah you do have to be a bit more careful in Medellin than in Mexico. But I've talked to some guys who have been scopolamined, and it usually involved them doing something against their better judgment, like going to sketchy bars late at night, not listening to their spidey sense when a girl is acting suspicious, etc. Of course I can understand however that at 3 am after enough drinks, you'll start to throw caution to the wind, and can see myself getting into the same situation at some point.

As regards the dancing scene, one thing I really like in Colombia is that you get more of a chance to dance all of the various "ritmos latinos," such as salsa, bachata, merengue and reggaeton. A lot of the nightclubs here are called "crossover" discotecas, which means they play a mix of everything and not just one style. Out of these styles, I would say reggaeton and salsa get the most play. Cumbia is a lot rarer. I actually think I come across more cumbia in Mexico than in Medellin.

The average level of dancing you'll see in these places is not super high. You'll mostly just see couples doing the basic steps and a few simple turns. My advice would be to get down the basic steps and a few tricks for each of these styles so that you can dance to any song that comes on. You don't need to be a master, and usually the girls are impressed with any foreigner who can sort of dance to Latin music.

Then finally I don't get the sense that Medellin has a real fitness culture overall. The amount of obesity is less in Colombia than in Mexico, but I think Mexico is more plugged into US trends of healthy foods, working out, yoga and all that. The one thing I think is bigger in Colombia than in Mexico is actually cycling. If you hit the mountains on the outskirts of Medellin on the weekend, you'll run into hordes of cyclists.

Now a lot of what I've said here might make it sound that I'm down on Medellin and Colombia in general, but I think it's important to know what to expect and have a clear idea of what you want to get out of it. I think the sheer amount of hype I had read on the forum made me paint too rosy a picture of what it would be like here, and so I initially wasn't prepared for the amount of grind required to get with quality girls here. But then I went back and reread "Bang Colombia," and Roosh didn't sugarcoat things either. Apparently even back in 2010 or whenever he was here it was no cakewalk.

As far as I'm concerned, my goal here in Colombia is to take my game to the next level and get higher quality girls than I've been able to land in other countries. The jury's still out over whether Colombia is the best place for that, but at that very least, it throws more 8's and above into my path on a daily basis than anywhere else I've been, and for that alone it's worth it.

Thanks for the write up much appreciated, along with the others. I like that you just transitioned from Mexico as that's the path I plan to take also. We seem to share similar goals as I am now more concentrated on quality bangs 8's and up is the plan.

I think my biggest challenge will be Spanish though I am learning I am really going to have to put in the effort to learn to communicate with it more. Mexico spoiled me in that regard, of not having to "know "Spanish to get bangs and build a social life. I'm taking it more seriously, to say the least, but I know it will not come overnight.

I currently have two Spanish courses. Spanish with Paul as the base and Pickup Spanish for flirting.

Definitely sounds like Colombia is more of a "melting pot" of tourist and Colombians more so than Mexico. I met a fair share of Argentines and Colombians when in Mexico previously. All in all, it sounds like it's going to be quite a cool experience.

I would suggest one of the many coworking spaces in Medellin. Speaking from experience, it gets old working in the apartment alone day after day. Join one of the spaces, get free coffee, good internet, and meet people. Theres tons in Medellin.

You won't find the variety or strength that we have in North America down there but you can get cheap sativa in Colombia, the most common being Punto Rojo. There's dial-a-dopers down there, ask around for domicilios.

Are there any shoe stores in Medellin which sell Adidas or Nike sneakers (or any other good brand) at a reasonable price? Seems like there's crazy markups wherever I go. In the US you can walk into an outlet store and buy either of these brands for cheap, as long as you're willing to buy styles from previous seasons

I think it's a bit overstated how important Spanish is. You can definitely bang cute/hot girls here if you don't speak Spanish well, but it'll be nearly impossible to have a normal relationship. Approaching girls in the day time with my broken ass Spanish is working pretty well and leads to sex pretty easily. It's just frustrating for me (and the girls) that I speak like a child. I've noticed that as long as you have the balls to initiate (and approach her well and with good body language), it's pretty easy from there to get laid. Sometimes it takes persistence.

Or maybe Colombianas just like gringos.

From what I've seen this kind of thing is going to be more expensive because it's imported and taxed. That's provided they're authentic. I saw a bunch of cheap knockoffs at the minorista.

I don't know where the "contraband" malls are in Medellin but in Bogota they have places where people sell stuff that was imported illegally not paying the 19% tax that colombia charges. The problem is those can also easily be fake. You can also find people who import them illegally and sell on instagram if you look hard enough.

Your best bet is to order them off amazon or ebay to a shipping service in the US and pay them to send it to you in Colombia, unless you know how to tell the difference between real and fake shoes.

I found that Tinder worked really well in Bogota, whereas it's complete dog shit in Medellin. You'll get way hotter girls if you meet them in real life instead of Tinder, but it's nice to have Tinder as an option anyway

Thanks dude! Yeah I have it on location switch to Bogota but haven't gotten too many matches. Maybe need to reset my account. Curious about Bumble, that's worked ok for me in eastern Europe. But maybe hasn't caught on yet in Colombia. I won't give up on Tinder though per your advice.

But yeah for sure, I'm going to do the Gringo Tuesday thing and get involved with some activities. Plus I'm right next to Uni Andes so probably scope some DG there (not sure if you have any advice in that respect).

Basically all those small stores selling Nike,Adidas etc. gear are selling fakes, it goes without saying, all the locals know the stuff is fake but they don't care.

Gringos (even good looking one) that didnt have Spanish skills couldnt bang any of the really hot ones - the one you should go for - but had to settle for mediocre Tinder sluts.
