Apparently one of the big issues of discussion will be women in the workforce, because we all know that its so much more important than NAFTA, immigration, oil/pipelines, terrorism and immigration. Trump has employed tons of women over the years, many in top executive positions, Trudeau, on the other hand, has never employed anyone in his life but did appoint some incompetent female fuck wits into positions they shouldn't be in because they have vaginas and muh its 2015, see Christina Freeland and Maryam Monsef.
The "women workforce" card is smart for both sides. Trudeau wants to deflect attention away in the public sphere away from NAFTA. What will happen with NAFTA Will go down in boardrooms with gully lawyers and aggressive suits, not really between Trump and Trudeau directly, but Trudeau does not want to poke Trump to make recommendations that hinder Canada.
Plus, a new initiative between the two nations adds another layer of bureaucracy and technicalities that just make it more difficult to undue. Canada's long game is to throw Mexico under the bus and self-preserve its status within NAFTA.
From Trump's point of view, this offers him a platform to soften his image. With the "women's workforce" thing. You have here two folks in Trump and Trudeau who are used to the spotlight and the media and are working it to improve optics and their image.
They both are working the media on both sides of the border here. Trump can get a lot of soft points by using Trudeau to soften up his image. Canada now is already feeling it from Trump's restrictive migration policies as people now are starting to flee on foot into Manitoba to skirt a legal loophole so they can re-claim asylum status in Canada. It is the dead of winter now, so what will happen in the warmth of summer? Canada could see floods people migrants come over like you see over in Europe. Trudeau hears about this on the low; he must be, my take is he needs to be Trump's friend more than his adversary right now. Best that both work to improve the public image and standing currently.

RE: The Canada Political Thread
Good points Kosko, I've been reading the stories about the migrants crossing the border in Manitoba, apparently Quebec had over 500 crossings in December alone. One story I saw was about a group of Ghanians who fled from North Dakota, crossed the border but got extreme frost bite along the way and one of the guys had to have both of his hands amputated so he's already costing tax payers a bloody fortune! Also, why the hell are Ghanians claiming refugee status in Canada? Isn't Ghana the strongest economy and safest country in West Africa? Didn't Obama go there and praise Ghana for how well its doing? Of course, the guy claimed his life was in danger in Ghana because he's a homosexual, how convenient, the CBSA should make any homo claimants suck a cock upon entry.
Quote:A Ghanaian refugee who almost died during a trek to cross the U.S.-Canada border into Manitoba on Christmas Eve will lose all of his fingers, a toe and possibly his arms.
"It's very bad news," Seidu Mohammed, 24, told CBC News in an interview at a Winnipeg hospital where he is being treated for severe frostbite. "I don't know what to do right now." Mohammed said he fled Ghana for the United States in 2015 because he feared for his life due to his sexual orientation, but when he arrived in San Diego, he was detained for a year. He applied for asylum after his visa ran out but a judge denied his request.
He and another Ghanaian man, who he met in Minneapolis, decided to flee to Canada. The two of them took a bus to Grand Forks, N.D., then flagged a cab and spent $400 for a ride to a spot near the U.S.-Canada border on Dec. 24. "There is a big farm around the border and we passed through," said Mohammed. "It was very difficult because when we stepped in that farm, the snow was [at] our waists." For at least seven hours, the two trudged through snowy fields with the temperature hovering around the –18 C mark, without the wind chill factored in.
They finally came upon Highway 75, near the Emerson, Man., border crossing. The two men tried for hours to flag down trucks passing them by on the highway. A truck driver finally stopped and called 911 to get medical help for the men who were disoriented and cold. It is unclear how they managed to cross the border without being stopped. They've both been in hospital since the trucker got them help, recovering in a specialized burn ward of Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre.
"If not for him, we would have died in that snow," said Mohammed. "Nobody stopped till this Good Samaritan, God sent [this] man.… We were about to give up." On Monday, Mohammed and his friend met the Good Samaritan for the first time since the morning of Christmas Eve.
"He was crying. We all started crying because he saved our lives," Mohammed said. Mohammed is one of hundreds of refugees this year that have crossed the Canada-U.S. border into Manitoba between ports of entry. According to the Canada Border Services Agency figures, there's been a fivefold increase in the number of refugee claimants crossing between ports of entry in the past three years.
The Canada-U.S. Safe Third Country Agreement requires refugees to seek asylum in the first country they arrive, with a few exceptions. Some advocates say the agreement is the reason refugees sometimes put their lives at risk sneaking into countries like Canada.
"If the Safe Third Country Agreement would be scrapped, then these people would not be risking their lives through the prairie open field," said Bashir Khan, a Winnipeg immigration and refugee lawyer who has taken on the Ghanaian refugees' case.
They'd be able to present themselves right at the border," he said.
Journey 'worth it'
Mohammed has filed an application for refugee status. Refugee claims are typically heard by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada within two months. He is hopeful he'll be able to stay and work in Canada and is grateful for all the help he's received from various groups, including the local Ghanaian community.
"I want to say thank you to all of you who show caring."
Even though he was especially saddened by news from his doctors that he will lose a toe since he's an avid soccer player, Mohammed said it's a price he's willing to pay for freedom and a better life.
"The journey was worth it. I'm happy I'm here. To go back, I lose my life," he said.

RE: The Canada Political Thread
I went to see him here in Vancouver.
He is actually not much different (yet) than Trudeau. He has a ridiculous need to please his wife and daughter (especially his daughter). He mentioned many times that his daughters biggest factors in the coming elections will be: Marijuana and immigration. He means to make right on both of these issues.
Weed I can agree on, but immigration I feel he is out of the loop. He seems to be getting immigration confused with migration, and is lumping them both together while at the same time taking small shots at the US and its coming immigration policy.
I understand this is politics, and he mentioned many times that without the millennial vote, the Tories will not win the next election. So I do get it, he has to pander to their vote somewhat. But what surprised many of the people there (not me- thanks RVF) is when a 16 yo girl got up and threw out a bunch of solid talk on her generations desire to have boundaries and borders and a system in place to make sure they are not left holding the fallout of liberal and progressive policies. She stumped O'Leary, who offered to meet with her at the end to discuss this.
So far I am leaning towards Bernier, but Scheer seems to be saying some good stuff too. O'Leary gives me a gut feeling that I don't quite know what it is yet. I still have a few months to decide, but I get the feeling that all these politicians here are trying their hand at media manipulation due to the Trump Effect but are failing due to the CBC and much of the Canadian MSM being hard left.

I went Liberal because of that. Anything to get Harper out. But hey, on the bright side after 4 years of Trudeau, Kevin O'Leary will have a landslide victory in 2019.
Under O'Leary we will make Canada great again. #MCGA I'm out(mic drop)
Why is everyone so excited for O'Leary? I've been living out of the country for a few years and I'm a bit lost as to why everyone seems to like him
You're not the only one, I think he's an asshole. Sort of like Michael Ignatieff when he ran for liberal leadership many years ago. His campaign was like "how can you not give me the leadership?"
Same here, I like how he talks tough about Notley and Trudeau in regards to the economy but I don't think he's a well rounded candidate who is able to defeat Trudeau and that is the number one priority in the next election. Also, the right in Alberta (Wild Rose and Progressive Conservatives) seem to be banding together to out Notley, which I believe will happen. I think it was Danny Alberta who said awhile back that things have to get really bad in Canada with our left wing governments in order for Canadians to wake the fuck up and I think we're on track for that. The carbon tax will make our economy non-competitive, there could be a real estate crash, there will be more stories of Syrians being shit heads and if we see thousands of Africans and Mexicans flooding our country by land and air in the coming months, Canadians may finally take to the streets like this guy

RE: The Canada Political Thread
Just posted that on spacebook. Love it.
I loved that Rebel video by Goldy and Southern. They did a great job and it was a brilliant idea to compare all the CPC leadership candidates to candidates who ran against Trump for the Republican nomination. The girls were very lucid in their analysis and I don't strongly disagree with any of their comparison picks.
My choice right now for CPC leader (and I am now an official voting member of the CPC) are:
1. Kevin O'Leary
2. Andrew Scheer
3. Pierre Lemieux
I hear what Dr. Howard is saying about O'Leary and I don't disagree. So he's an asshole. So am I. So what? We don't need another polite conservative getting thumped on election day like Tim Hudak because he refused to fight fire with fire. After Wynne's supporters posted photoshopped images of Hudak as the Joker laughing in front of an exploding hospital, Hudak went on television and cried and whined that "Wynne will do anything to cling to power!" Well, we don't need any more little girls like Hudak. We need fucking assholes who will fight back. O'Leary fits that profile. Dr. Howard says that O'Leary seems to have the attitude that is saying, "How can you NOT give me the leadership?" Again... I agree... and amplify. This sounds like a the attitude of a SUCCESSFUL salesman. It is effective rhetoric. Trump would approve. This is Art of the Deal magic. Now is not the time to get offended at the "mind-games" O'Leary is playing to win. Eschewing rhetoric while the left used it wantonly is precisely how the right has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory time and time again (see Tim Hudak - the Jim Kelly of politics).
I hear what Laner is saying about O'Leary not "feeling right". I had the same feeling about Mike Harris in 1995 and the feeling ended up being more or less accurate as Harris was a kind of lefty in right-wing clothing. But Harris was also a winner and we needed SOMEBODY to beat Bob Rae and his NDP and get them THE HELL out of Queen's Park, and Harris delivered. I don't think any of these other candidates has what it takes to beat Little Potato, and like the Rebel girls said, whatever your concerns are over O'Leary, he would be TREMENDOUSLY preferable to Troolander.
We need to get that fucking idiot out of Ottawa. O'Leary can win.
I would have put Bernier in my list of choices if he could speak English. Hell, I might have even made him number one. But that language handicap is too much. Alberta will be disgusted by him and Alberta is the right-wing heartland of this country.
Go O'Leary.
For the win.

None. They all suck.
Give me an option of bad options and I won't pick any. Politics like women to me, if she ain't hot I ain't down. I don't settle for bad pussy like I don't settle for bad policies.
The Con field is like a bar full of fatties. Don't just fuck fatties because they are on "your team". In Canada more than ever you need to be an Independent. All parties want Canada as a socialist hellhole, don't let them try to tell you otherwise. For that reason I don't align with any team. A true admission is that I have never been compelled by a canidate nationally in my life. All have been fatties that I don't want to fuck with.
Could be a good time for the reform party to come back to life in one shape or another.
I think the sentiment that led to the creation of the reform party was similar to what we have now, and they did well, despite having a weirdo for their party leader. Put 'a people's champion' with a ball sack in front of that party and something might happen. Rob Ford would have been ideal, but alas RIP. If not a rob ford type I'd like to see a conservative that is immune to to being white and cucked. Canada has plenty of first generation black businessmen from the UK or Caribbean with minor celebrity status that would not dance around with being nice to trannies, or welfare handouts.
I think its time for Canada's first black prime minister, a conservative one.
